IMac :: Unable To Download Through Firefox / Speed Download Became Standard Download Client
May 10, 2009When downloading small files online they will download through Speed Download. Before I installed Speed Download it would just download through the regular downloading client. How do I change it back to using the regular one as standard? I use firefox btw

Downloads no do not go directly to the dock which is useful although they can be found in Finder. Nov 26, 2010I have the 27" inch quad core i7 imac I just got a few days ago. Some reason for certain things like d/ling the vlc players its taking a few minutes to d/l a 24 meg file. With this type of computer, it should take like 3 seconds to d/l a small file like that. I have a fast internet connection, don't understand why that's happening.

the problem im having has just been since i got my new imac. it will start downloading around 85-90 kb then just slows and slows consistently and gets around 10 kb. sometimes if i stop then resume the download it will start back up at the faster speed but then slows again. sometimes if i stop it, it cant resume for some reason.
is this my isp problem or is it something with my computer or settings?

Nov 7, 2009I am a new Mac user. I bought a 27" iMac today to replace a dead PC. My download speeds are AWFUL on the Mac. While using the PC, my maximum download speed on a 6 mbit connection was over 850kb/sec. Now, with the mac, I can barely manage 250K/sec downloads. I am using all the same equipment and cables as before (not using the wireless, and I have it disabled), and if I plug in another PC into my router, it will get the 850+kb/sec download speeds, no problem at all. Is there a setting somewhere that I can change to get things working properly? Poor speeds occur no matter what program I am downloading from, whether it be Safari, FTP, or whatever. I just installed parallels, with windows, and I can download at my old speeds. How do I do it in native Mac mode then?

I am downloading the update for BFBC 2 on xbox atm, and it has taken me half an hour to do 14% and it took my mate (who lives about 10 min walk away from me) about 20 mins to complete the whole thing...

It's my plan to download some legacy games from Steam (like Doom II, and Half-Life); but does anyone here have any experience with using Steam? Steam appeals to me because it's gonna be easier than hunting-down some of these games on disc. Then there's all that faff with patches and stuff, which Steam deals with automatically.

I have loaded the driver - apparently successfully - as I have an entry in System Prefs>Network called 'AVE02...XE USB' 'Not Connected'.
Now the interesting bit. No matter what I do, I cannot get the Status 'Not connected' to change to 'Connected' and consequently the MacAXEpad can't use the USB cable to program the MCUs.
I assume that I need to fill in one or more of the 'Configuration', 'Tel. Number', 'Account Name' or 'Password' fields with something intelligent, but WHAT?
ITunes :: Unable To Download Purchases Onto Authorised IMac
Jun 9, 2012I have an iMac, iPhone 4 and new iPad all associated with my one and sole Apple ID and all authorised to share the same itunes library (stored on the iMac) when they're in range of my home wifi. I also have automatic downloads set up for music only. Home sharing works fine.
When I download music from itunes on the iMac it appears on the iPhone and the iPad as well. So far, so good. When I download music from itunes on the iPhone it appears on the iMac as well but NOT the iPad.When I download music from itunes on the iPad it appears on the iPhone but NOT the iMac. When I try and use the itunes "download purchases" facility to add it to my iTunes library on the iMac, I get an error message saying the iMac is already associated with an ID and I can't associate it with another one for another 32 days. But I thought I only had the one ID?
Everything is running the most up to date software. It was all bought brand new, either direct from Apple or obtained boxed and sealed from a major retailer. I've only ever had the one ID.
