I've made the upgrade to Lion and I know that PowerPC do not now work and I have removed all the PowerPC programmes I can see but I still get a wrning saying InventoriaAgent can not start.how do I stop this happening?

Are you sure you want to open it?Whereas "xxx" is the name of the file I downloaded.I want to get rid of this warning message. I could not find a way to do so in Firefox.
View 3 Replies View Relatedmy daughter bought a used ibook g4 15" and it worked for several months before developing a maddening habit of shutting down without warning. I've read other threads about this with ibooks but they say it happens only when the battery is operating and doesn't happen when plugged in. My daughter's does it either way and will only stay on for ten or so minutes most times before shutting down. It makes the machine unusable. We've checked the power supply and the power input board. Is this a logic board issue? She paid $450 for the computer but the prices have come down and it might not be worth fixing. I can solder and can get into the logic board if someone can tell me what to do.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was hoping you could get me started in the right direction. My wife has an iBook G4 which lately, while using a full battery, just turns off suddenly. There is no warning and it never does it when it's plugged in. The battery looks like it's almost fully charged - at least that's what the meter in the menu says, so I don't know what's going on.
Could you possibly give me some steps to go through to try and figure this out?
The first step she wants to try is to get a new Intel MacBook, but I'd like to try a couple of other things first!
My school-computer (iBook 14" 1,42 Ghz G4, running OSX 10.4.10) has developed some unpleasant habbits lately. With lots of batterycharge left, 28-50%, it shuts down without warning. I try to restart it, and it gets to various stages of booting before shutting down again. It won't run untill i plug in the powercable, and then it starts of from almost half full charge. I did a bit of searching on the forums, and installed coconutbattery with the attached (depressing) result. Tried resetting the pmu, which didn't stop it from shutting down on me again 46 mins later. Does this mean I need to replace the battery?
View 14 Replies View RelatedAnyone have suggestions? I have a single 1.8ghz g5, 1gb ram, 10.4.10. I have a maxtor OneTouch III USB 2.0 200gb drive attached to it.
I can not seem to eject/unmount this drive. Every time i hook it up I just have to end up pulling the USB plug or turning the drive off suddenly to get it to "eject" but then i get the improper device removal error/warning message.
I have tried dragging to trash, I have tried apple E (which is what I usually do to any device) and I have tried going into disk utility and ejecting/unmounting from there as well. no dice.
I've been having trouble with my new iMac that i purchased recently (26th of August actually). Whenever I'm doing something CPU intensive, the machine just shuts off, but usually it's not right in the middle of whatever I'm doing, it's after I close the application. For example: I was playing SimCity4 the other day, pretty old game to cause this problem I would think. As soon as I exit the game, the system shuts off. No warning, nothing, just shuts off. This will happen when i close VMs (it actually happened yesterday while I was running the VM), etc. So I've reset the SMC/PMU, PRAM/NVRAM, and I've even reseated the RAM. Still the same problem. I've taken it in to a repair center in town, hoping I'll get it back by the end of the week. Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening?
View 22 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to install MySQL on my iMac. I downloaded the DMG packages and instaled them, then the instructions I was following from this [URL]. It told me to install a mysql connector (I am new to all of this so I dont know what a mysql connector is). This did not have a DMG package available, so I downloaded the tar.gz as it was my only option. Following the instructions I opened terminal and entered the following command (as shown in image above): sudo pico /etc/my.cnf. I am concerned about the warning message - this is a work computer and I cannot afford to replace it if something gets screwed up.

I connected it via ethernet to her old iBook, and unfortunately the iBook doesn't have a Set-up Assistant or Migration Manager, so we're unable to transfer over her address book entries or old emails.

I am concerned about what software i have, and what will be compatible with a new machine. Here are the programs i currently have, and use: Illustrator CS, Photoshop CS, Carrara 5 Pro, Painter IX, Hexagon 2, Dreamweaver MX, FireworksMX, Flash MX and Titanium Toast 6. I also use Appleworks 6 on occasion. Can anyone indicate which, if any of these could be used with Leapord and iMac?

Have a new iMac (last years) with 10.5 on it. My email worked normal before I transferred Applications, files & etc from my old G4 with 10.4.
Now I can only get to my email through through my Earthlink home page by logging in & etc. (a real pain just to check my email!)
If I try to use the email icon on the iMac dock I get the email line at the top of the screen , but email page does not open. I have to go to menu and click on "In" and the page opens up but does not download any email. Will not send from this location either. When I try to quit email it will not close. I have to force quit it.
Earthlink said to trash their "Total Access" as it won't work with 10.5. So when the iMac was working ok before the transfer of files I must have been using Apples Mail application. How do I get it working again? I looked all over Mail Help and Apple help and nothing seems to work. Safari works ok.
I just bought an iMac G4. This machine has been great, until a few hours ago. I was surfing Camino, when I went to go to IE for Mac (to check my Gmail, because Camino crashes when I go to Gmail) and then the same website I typed in on IE [URL] showed up in Camino. Of course, Camino crashed. Then, Camino started itself back up again, automatically surfed to [URL], and crashed again. Then Camino started up again...(and so on)
So I chose to force shut down the computer via the power button (which was probably a bad choice). When I got back on, I tried starting Camino. It crashed almost as soon as I clicked on it. I tried again...same thing. I soon came to realize that everything to do with the internet (Camino, Safari, IE, AIM) crashes the same way (almost as soon as you click on it). You ask how it crashed? Just the normal "This application unexpectedly quit" type.
I currently have a 2007 20" IMac the specs are 2.0ghz 4 gb ram 240 gb hd. While this machine does run all my programs it does so with a lot of lag. I have a huge itunes library (90 GB) and an even bigger iphoto collection. (Over 70,000 8mp photos). The issue is when I launch iphoto it takes awhile to launch (60 seconds plus) the same issue with itunes (30 seconds to load album artwork ect.). Don't get me wrong its not unbearable just not as snappy as I would like.
The question is will the top end 2009 IMac be a worthy upgrade or should I wait 1 more year. I would hate to spend 2400 dollars for something thats not noticeably faster. I tried the new IMac in best buy and it felt really zippy however they have like 90 photos and 15 songs in itunes. Is it just me or do these apps really slow down when you throw a ton of files at them. Anyways I am starting to ramble.
I have accidentally deactivated 'Finder' when I used the 'Force Quit' option. I didn't look before I clicked. I still have the icon in the dock but when I click on it, it says: 'The application Finder can't be opened. -10810.' How can I reactivate it?

Using 10.9.4 on imac 2.66Ghz i5 .I am looking for live radio streams off the internet and many times safari or quicktime will try to open the stream. .wmp , .asf , .mp3, .aac+
is there away to associate the extension with specific applications to try and utilize the stream such as itunes, winamp, real player, or vlm? This would not be the same as the process for opening files using the Open With since this is off the web page. Used to be a simple task in the past. Doesn't seem that itunes supports drag and drop feature.

Checked router,cable etc. All work fine w other computers etc. router does not "see/read" when cable connected to G5. I figured Ethernet card is dead. Can't afford new card figured I'd try: Net gear G54 wireless USB adapter, just to get back online. Downloaded driver for Mac etc. Went to System Prefernces to set up. Opened System Preferences then Network, Automatically this message drops down: "Your network settings have been changed by another application" When I click "ok" same message automatically drops back down. Cannot access "Network settings" at all.
