I have a new install of Mac 10.7.4 on a 21" iMac. I have the iMac set to automatically log out after 14 minutes of idle time. On many occasions when the logout is triggerd, the user account will log out, but the screen does not display the login window, it still shows an image of the last state of when the computer was logged in. When I move the mouse, the screen acts as if it's erasing the pixels off the screen, showing bits and pieces of the login screen in the background. If I type a user ID and password, a small area clears around the login fields so I can see the fields and log in.
This was originally happening when a screen saver was enabled, I have since removed the screen saver. This did not make a difference.
I have the Preference Pane>Security>Advanced set to log out at 14 minutes and the Preference Pane>Energy Saver>Display Sleep set to go black at 15 minutes.
I have tried various different times/settings, but have not been able to fix this.
Since this configuration is for a Lab setting, I really need for the computer to log out cleanly and go back to the login screen.
I am running OSX 10.9.2 on a 2011 iMac. For as long as I can remember it has relentlessly prompted me to enter my password for this keychain and that keychain. How to do I disable this annoying feature?

Have an old MBP. Just installed lion on it today. Previously, the computer had no password (at login, I would just hit enter so essentially the password was nothing). After installing Lion, that no longer works, and now I can't get into my computer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy girlfriends Macbook has this popup about every 2-3 minutes while youre browsing the web. She doesnt remember ever setting a "keychain" password, and tried to type in the password that she uses to log into her macbook, but apparently it's not the same password. What can I do to get rid of this if she doesn't know the password? Can I delete and then reinstall Safari? Do I need to reformat and install the entire OSX? Should I just use Firefox and forget about Safari?

There are few things I miss from Windows, but one thing is the way you open files. Is there a way, in Tiger, to be able to open files by just hitting return/enter, instead of [Command]+[Down]?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn Microsoft Outlook 2011, hitting "Enter" (the tall, vertical, right-most bottom corner button on my numeric keypad) sometimes (but not always) causes an email to be sent, when I wasn't done typing and simply wanted to do a Return. I want to make sure this never happens again, but I'd like the option of hitting the Enter key to go to the next line - can I somehow redefine the Enter key at the OS level so that pressing it always sends a "Return" code to any software (such as Outlook)?

how can I login to my computer if I forgot my password?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a colleague who is still running 10.2 (yea I know, time to upgrade, but they haven't felt the need for it yet I guess). Anyway, someone changed and forgot, or someone did it to be a jerk, either way they are unable to update any software or even log in. Just wondering how to rest the password. The computer is stuck on the log in screen currently and they can't access anything.

Ok so today my 27" iMac (10.6.2) was acting kind of weird. In safari and chrome webpages would spontaniously crash for no reason (on my macbook, the same webpages were fine). So, to try and fix this issue, I decided to restart my imac. After all the applications quit, I was left with a blank screen with my wallpaper. It stayed like this for several minutes, so I decided to just hold the power button to force the imac to turn off. When I turned it back on, my user name was not displayed in the login window. All there was for accounts was "other" and a network symbol. When I click other and entered my user name and password, it did not work. I am sure I was using the correct password and username. I also tried: username: root, but that also did not work. So i rebooted again and the same "other" still was there without my real account. So i booted into my Mac OS X install dvd and I repaired the disk and all the permissions (there were a lot of things to repair). I thought that this would solve the problem, but it did not.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to uninstall Virex 7.5. I have got the Terminal uninstall command which opens Terminal. So far, so good. However, Terminal is asking me for my admin password but it's not allowing me to enter it. The cursor is not blinking it's just a solid black oblong - just bl**dy sitting there! Absolutely no response to any key except the enter key - then terminal helpfully says, 'Sorry, try again' What's going on? I just wanna get rid of Virex!!!
View 3 Replies View RelatedYes I know other people have posted this and gotten the answer that you just put it ion anyways and you wont see it come up but it works. Well I do not actually have a password set so usually I just hit enter with it blank but when I do that in Terminal it says sorry wrong password or something until I hit the 3rd try and it boots me.
