I recently reformatted my MBP. It seems as if Safari no longer wants to save files which I view in the activity window + double click but instead just open them in another tab. Does anyone know why this is happening? I want to save .flv files and all these other files but they don't save!

The program displays the cout inside the if so its clearly not finding the txt file.
I can't save files to my desktop. I have no problem saving the same file anywhere else. WHen I try through excel, for example, it tells me the file is read only. When I try to save it as a different file name, a pop up tells me I do not have permission to save to the desktop. The same issue occurs when I attempt to take a screen shot (default save to desktop)

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently had to create a new user, copy all apps and files to same, and then reinstall MS Office 2004 for Mac. I use a mini, 2gig Ram, and Leopard (10.5.6)OS. All my old office files have become "read only" and I cann ot modify and save w/o renaming. Is there a "blanket" way to change the Permissions to "read & write" for all my Office files? Idid not see a similar item in the FAQ's......
Also, when I open an Office application, I get the following message: "An unexpected error occurred while trying to load the Microsoft Framework library". How do I fix that?
If I try to do this in iTunes I get a CD where the songs are in AIFF format and I can't play them on every CD player. And with every other burner or converter is the same, I obtain only AIFF files. Consider that I've already tried a lot of converters and in iTunes doesn't work!

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince updated to Lion I have found that Save As in Edit is no longer available. Screen shots and certain other images and docs I need to Save As jpegs in order to use in Photoshop. I cannot name docs form the drop down menu but instead have to close and rename it in the label on my desktop. The only option is Save a Version but when I do this I have no idea if and where the image is going as it does not show up on my desktop. Why is this feature of Save As removed? Some image files cannot be opened by PS unles in specific fomat and the word document issue is just annoying as it adds additonal steps to naming.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I edit an image I have on my desktop with the Preview app and then save it, everything works fine.If I edit that same image with Photoshop CS6, save it (same or copy) on the desktop, and then try for example to resize or crop it with the Preview app, it won't work. It says it can't autosave because I don't have the right permissions or something like that... I already tried to repair them. I use the latest version of Lion. I also tried to do the same thing on Snow Leopard and it works fine.

I've set up Mail to use Gmail perfectly, except when I send emails from Mail it won't save them in my sent folder, and it hasn't collected my old sent messages either.
I did a search and found a few people with a similar problem but that seemed to be attributed to the fact that they were accessing IMAP accounts. Anyone know what the problem could be with Gmail?
The only instruction I didn't follow in the instructions was that I told Gmail to keep copies of my emails in its inbox rather than archive them.
Yesterday I made a project with iMovie and started to import it as a QuickTime .mov file. I�ve set everything to the best quality and encoding, without compression. My HD had 101Gb free space. This morning there was an error warning that the project could not be completed because the HD was full. I checked and there's 0kb of free space! How do I fix it? Where do I look for files to delete? What shall I do?

I cannot modify then save or create a new Applescript and save it on my MacPro. I get an error message saying I don't have permission. To view or change permissions select the item in the Finder then chose File > Get Info. When I do that, and enter my pass phrase to unlock the lock at the bottom right of the Get Info window I can do that, but I cannot change the Privileges and I wouldn't know what to change them to anyway.
If it helps, I'm running off a drive that used to be my backup drive and the info on it was copied by Carbon Copy Cloner. Also, I recent reinstalled the OS because the machine wasn't booting from the drive reliably. After the reinstallation I ran Disk Warrior, Disk Utility (permissions and repair), optimized the drive with DiskTools Pro and checked its SMART status.
I should add that if I restart off my main drive I can change and save scripts. But I don't want to use that drive as my main drive anyore as I upgraded it to Lion which I don't like (Lion killed my most important applications).
This was happening with my old 2006 Macbook. I just upgraded to a new MacBook Pro the other day and I am still having the same problem. For years it worked without a problem. One day I cleared the cache and Safari no longer saved bookmarks or allowed me to delete exisiting ones.
I am able to delete old ones and add new, but the program reverts to previously saved very old settings on restart.

I am suddenly no longer able to save pdf formatted documents in Preview using Lion 10.7.3. The content is a single page consisting of 4 combined pdf images. I get a "Printer Error" message. It had been working up until now. I restarted Preview and then restarted my system, but this problem did not go away. This week my mac pro started to become flaky. Apps that I use all the time, started having problems saving, then they started having problems opening files. I could drag and drop files on an app and they would open. Cmd+S would sometimes save, sometimes not. If I closed the window without saving, I'd get the warning prompt, select OK to save and the file would save. Printing started flaking. Page setup comes up with a blank dialog, with Printer settings pulldown blank. Trying to print, either nothing would happen or the app would crash. I have run disk verfy - everything checks out. I have repaired permissions, I have run techtool pro. Nothing works. I have done a Cmd-Opt click to start apps for a fresh prefs file. It seems to have started with one app and is showing up in others, mostly Adobe/Microsoft apps, but now Open Office, too. I've had and diagnosed many macs over the years, but this one's got me perplexed. I've got Sophos Antivirus and nothing has been detected..

Up to now it hasn't bothered me much, but today I wanted to download iBank 4 Quick Start Guide. When I clicked on the link for the guide, Safari went to a pdf page and displayed the first page of the pdf. When I selected "Save As" it gave me a name for the file and the download destination. When I said OK, I got this error: The document “iBank_4_Quick_Start.pdf” could not be exported as “iBank_4_Quick_Start”. This happens for every pdf page I try to download. I get an error every time. The only work around I've found has been to right click (control click) on the button that takes you to the pdf file and select "Save linked file to the desktop" Safari used to allow you do a "Save As" for all pdf's.

I opened the finder window (back when I could) and scrolled over on HD X infinity. I don't know why I did it. I guess just to see how many times it would fold over. Well I held down the arrow and it went hyperspeed.. made a loud buzzing noise then crashed. I shut off the computer and ever since then I cant open finder. Desktop or any folders that I search for through spotlight. What I would like to do would be to save all my files. Most importantly garageband files, pictures and video, itunes. I've tried to use a usb and external hardrive but I cant properly insert the files into the drive. And my cd drive doesn't work so I cant insert the install disk. I do have another ibook g4 and I've been hunting for ways to remedy the situation. My goal is to get everything back to normal and save my files.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have hopefully a question one of you can help me with. On my MacBook when I open a file - for example a zip file that has pictures in it that I receive in an e-mail. Until recently I would clik on the zip file to open it and get a "Opening Attachments .zip" box which is normal. I would then have the option to open the file (default is Stuffit Expander") or "Save File." I always click "Save File" and until recently the file, whether it's a zip file, or just a single file, would open on my DESKTOP. Well I must have changed something because they no longer are opening on my desktop...and I'm not sure where they are opening up and being stored. So long intro to hopefully easy question. Since the Opening Attachments box doesn't have an option to where that "Save" option puts that file, where can I go to find out where it's saving these files to?
