IMac (Intel) :: FaceTime Sync To IPhone And IPad Air
Jun 5, 2014I setup my new iMac (purchased 14 May 2014) with a whole bunch of FaceTime contacts.  These are there in my FaceTime pane. I bought an iPadAir last week and also have an iPhone. On both these Apple devices I also entered some FaceTime contact data, tried both out and they worked just fine; that is they talked to each other and other people. As this information was slightly different on all three devices, I wanted them to automatically follow what I have on my iMac, so I plugged them both in to the iMac. I then (separately) did a Sync of both devices from iTunes, and all the data for FaceTime in both cases instead of being updated and streamlined/synchronized with my iMac has been wiped. automatically rather than have to enter and re-enter all the data again and again each time I do a Sync.Â
Note: when I did the Sync the music I added today went where it should, so there's no problem with connections, etc. On the Info page I've clicked on "Sync Contacts" which would seem to be what was necessary. Now when I try to Sync either of these devices, the Sync process goes on and on and never stops. I can't see any way of stopping it other than doing a Force Quit of iTunes - which is pretty useless as I will obviously want to Sync these and my other Apple devices again in the future. As a result of this neither of these devices will now Sync with my iMac, other than locking themselves into a cintinuous loop. As I've just bought both the iMac and the iPadAir I could contact Apple direct, but I thought I'd try here first.

Apr 16, 2012I've had an iphone 4 for 2 years, always syncing contacts with outlook on my old PC. Everything worked fine until icloud; I then found that any new contacts weren't syncing to outlook, I'm assuming because the phone was only syncing to icloud? No matter, decided not to worry as I wanted to buy a mac, having worked with them recently.
So my issue now is (very similar to before) that I can't sync my contacts from my iphone to my mac, again because it insists the phone is backing up to icloud. I tried this morning; it prompted me that the phone was 'on' icloud and therefore not syncing with mac etc; I checked the box to sync contacts, hit apply and merge in the hopes I could get my contacts from my phone onto the mac. Instead it's created another phone book on my iphone with just the three contacts that were on the mac?!
Now when I go to contacts on my iphone it has three groups: All contacts, all on my iphone and all icloud. The first and last have all my contacts in; the all on my iphone has zero. I know the transition to something new isn't always easy, but I'm now really confused.The Mac is on Snow Leopard, and my understanding of browsing the forums is that only lion will work with icloud. I haven't bought any software yet, so I'm not concerned about compatibilty if I upgrade. I AM however concerned as to how icloud will work if I do upgrade?
Will it use the iMac or the iphone as the 'senior' device?
If it uses the mac will I lose all my contacts?
With cloud do I not need to backup my iphone?
What's the difference between backup, sync and icloud?

May 20, 2012I have had recurrent kernel panic attacks on my Macbook pro runnig 10.4.7. This seems to be OK once rebooted in safe mode but I can find the underlying software/hardware problem. The logs are not helping me with this issue.Â
Anyone have any suggestions. I am thinking of backing up all my files and erasing hard drive and starting with reloading all my applications and then files.The computer is only useable in safe mode at present.

Apr 16, 2012I have the latest OS X Lion (10.7.3) and iTunes. On iTunes the Sync to Contacts, Sync to Mail, Sync to Calendars and the notes in Others are checked but the boxes in Advanced are not. The iCloud is logged in (in System Preferences) with the default settings. Â Â
If won't sync the contacts from the iPhone to either the Address Book in the iMac (late 2009 model) nor the one in iCloud. I've reported this at the iPhone Feedback page as a bug but I could be doing something wrong. Â

Jun 25, 2012I have an iMac, Air and iPhone 4S, all up-to-date. I did my iCloud migration a few weeks ago. Everything seemed to work; I especially tested Calendar and verified that an event created on each device would appear on/disappear from the others. However, over the past few days I have realized that iCloud sync of Contacts/AddressBook is only working on the iPhone. Cards that I have created on the iMac and Air do not appear on the phone, but cards that I create on the iPhone do appear on the others. Â
After readng some similar questions here, I checkef SysPrefs on the Air, discovered MobileMe was still the default for AddressBook, changed it (in two places) to iCloud... and now have a complete set of duplicate entries in the Air, but still no sync up to iCloud. (I created new cards to check, and also checked iCloud.com to make sure the data is there. It is, no dupes — but also none of the cards I created on the Air before or after changing the default.)Â

Jul 24, 2008I have an iMac 3.06GHz 1TB HD with 4GB RAM and a 17" MacBook Pro 2.4GZ and 4GB RAM both running OSX 10.5.3 and an individual Mobile Me account which used to be a .Mac account. I can no longer sync the iMac using Mobile Me. Syncing ius disabled and I can find no way to enable it. The Macbook Pro shows both computers as registered for syncing but the iMac shows neither. The Macbook Pro seems to have no problem with syncing, other than what I want to sync is on the iMac which will not sync. I have searched this nsite and the Apple site but can find no reference to why syncing is disabled on the iMac. It worked fine under .Mac Do you have any ideas please as this is beginning to get urgent.

Oct 6, 2010I used Macthe Ripper to rip my sons chuggington dvd to my macbook pro, then i used handbrake to convert it, i managed to copy the converted file to my itunes library, but when i symc my iphone 3gs, it says it won't copy the file because it can't be played on my iphone.Several forums mention using the iphone/ipod touch preset when converting in Hnadbrake, now i may be a numpty, but i cant find this preset anywhere?! The closest thing i can see is an apple button/setting.when i selected apple and told it to play again, it said it would overwrite the prev converted verison. It took hours to convert the first time, if I do this, will it really work? Or will I waste another 3 hours?!

Everything is wireless. I've got router Linksys WAG300N - maybe this is an issue? If yes how to solve it?
iMac always stays home, but when I tried to watch some videos on Youtube in school everything was very was.
Of course it is not because of my internet speed.
I have 6/7megabitb/s, so download speed is 750-800 kilobytes/s.

Jun 23, 2014I use BBEdit which has me placing an application support file (CSS) about four or five sub files into the "User" file,. where I never go, partially because it is so far to scroll down to.Â
Thus I keep a handy copy in the file I'm working with so it is just a mouse click away.Â
How do I sync the unaccessible file to the one I can get to more readily. One is for uploading to a website and the other is to support BBEdit so I can preview locally before uploading to the site.Â
