ITunes :: IPhone 3G 4.2.1 Won't Sync Contacts On IMac 10.7.3 Nor ICloud
Apr 16, 2012
I have the latest OS X Lion (10.7.3) and iTunes. On iTunes the Sync to Contacts, Sync to Mail, Sync to Calendars and the notes in Others are checked but the boxes in Advanced are not. The iCloud is logged in (in System Preferences) with the default settings. Â Â
If won't sync the contacts from the iPhone to either the Address Book in the iMac (late 2009 model) nor the one in iCloud. I've reported this at the iPhone Feedback page as a bug but I could be doing something wrong. Â
I have an iMac, Air and iPhone 4S, all up-to-date. I did my iCloud migration a few weeks ago. Everything seemed to work; I especially tested Calendar and verified that an event created on each device would appear on/disappear from the others. However, over the past few days I have realized that iCloud sync of Contacts/AddressBook is only working on the iPhone. Cards that I have created on the iMac and Air do not appear on the phone, but cards that I create on the iPhone do appear on the others. Â
After readng some similar questions here, I checkef SysPrefs on the Air, discovered MobileMe was still the default for AddressBook, changed it (in two places) to iCloud... and now have a complete set of duplicate entries in the Air, but still no sync up to iCloud. (I created new cards to check, and also checked iCloud.com to make sure the data is there. It is, no dupes — but also none of the cards I created on the Air before or after changing the default.)Â
I have my new iMac... downloaded the Blackberry app and synck all my contacts from my phone to Mac. I have an iCloud account and have made all i've found here but still can't get my contacts to work with iCloud.
I recently replaced the HD in my MacBook Pro. Just after, I retrieved my old files from the Time Machine backup, which I made just before the replacement. During the first sync of my iPhone via iTunes and while I was trying to sync my contacts I saw the message "iTunes could not sync contacts to iPhone because an error occurred while committing data". After that, I lost my iPhone contacts (I have them only from iCloud). The only problem is contacts, all the others (Calendars, Apps) are normally syncing.
I have an Iphone and I have a macbook pro. Now, I used to have at my work Hosted Exchange were all my contacts were on. Now, lost my job and now I want to delete the workaccount (mail). When I do that, my Iphone erases all my contacts on my iphone, which i don't want of course.
Now, what i did, I have tagged all the boxes in entourage to sync with Icall, etc. BUT when i do a sync from Itunes, it whipes away all my contacts again, because it probably takes it from the empty folders. So that's a big issue. I'm not able to get all my contacts into Entourage or I call. Normally when you put the cable in, it should sync everything from the iphone to your mac right? Well it doesn't. It doesn't even asked the question. I have no clue what to do anymore or how to get my contacts into my entourage, so i can make a new e-mailaccount (personal one) and link everything together.
When trying to sync my imac itunes to iphone 4s, i keep getting message that i have to download itunes 10.5 or later, ive done this to the mac but do not see how to do with the phone?
I have an issue with contacts on my devices. My iPhone 4s, and my MacBook Pro. I am running Lion and the latest version of everything and yadayadayada. But I want the Address Book on my Mac to be identical to the one on my iPhone so I have numbers and emails all stored of my friends and family on my Mac as well as iPhone. However, when I go to iTunes and click sync contacts and all that, it does something with Google and crap to match them and it's just a total mess. On my iPhone I have groups of contacts that are "From My Mac" which contains about 2/3 of all my contacts. Like some synced and others didn't. Then there is an "iCloud" group. Which contains very very few contacts and doesn't do crap for me. Then there is an "All Contacts" group that actually has everything. I thought iCloud was going to sync ALL my contacts to ALL my devices? I don't know what to do right now at all. I think my Mac is syncing with Google and not my iPhone because the only contacts it's syncing are the ones from my old droid on that email, which is also my Apple ID. So should I take my Mac off syncing with gmail contacts and then I can remove all the gmail contacts off of gmail for good or whatever and then I can get my iPhone contacts on?
Info: MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
I've had an iphone 4 for 2 years, always syncing contacts with outlook on my old PC. Everything worked fine until icloud; I then found that any new contacts weren't syncing to outlook, I'm assuming because the phone was only syncing to icloud? No matter, decided not to worry as I wanted to buy a mac, having worked with them recently.
So my issue now is (very similar to before) that I can't sync my contacts from my iphone to my mac, again because it insists the phone is backing up to icloud. I tried this morning; it prompted me that the phone was 'on' icloud and therefore not syncing with mac etc; I checked the box to sync contacts, hit apply and merge in the hopes I could get my contacts from my phone onto the mac. Instead it's created another phone book on my iphone with just the three contacts that were on the mac?!
Now when I go to contacts on my iphone it has three groups: All contacts, all on my iphone and all icloud. The first and last have all my contacts in; the all on my iphone has zero. I know the transition to something new isn't always easy, but I'm now really confused. The Mac is on Snow Leopard, and my understanding of browsing the forums is that only lion will work with icloud. I haven't bought any software yet, so I'm not concerned about compatibilty if I upgrade. I AM however concerned as to how icloud will work if I do upgrade?
Will it use the iMac or the iphone as the 'senior' device?
If it uses the mac will I lose all my contacts?
With cloud do I not need to backup my iphone?
What's the difference between backup, sync and icloud?
If I am going to connect my Macbook Pros with my I Phone and I Pad through Cloud how do the contacts sync.My laptop has many email addresses on it and my phone contacts are mostly people I call but not necessarily email. So does one set get erased?
Hardware and software involved: Macbook Pro (bit older model) with fully updated LioniPhone 4 with fully updated newest iOS Situation: There are all contacts in iCloud. iPhone synces without issue and has all contacts in adress book. On Mac many contacts are missing. Tested solutions on Mac: Turned iCloud account off and on - no result, no change, iCloud still synces only some contacts, Turned iCloud adress book syncing on (while deleting all contacts on Mac) - no result, no change, iCloud still synces only some contacts, Deleting user/Library/applicationsupport/adress book - adress book synced more contacts (and different ones) then before, but still not all. Maybe around 1/2 contacts from iCloud.Â
Contacts entered in iCloud will not sync to Macbook pro.Contacts entered in iPhone do sync to iCloud and vice versa.Items entered in iPhone contacts do not sync with Macbook Pro nor do contacts entered in Macbook Pro sync to iPhone.Â
i have an ipad, iphone, 13" macbook pro and mac mini all which run fine. i bought new family macbook pro today but cant get my phone 4s to sync its data ie pics, music, contacts etc?
Do in need to update to OS Lion in order to be able to sync my iMac address book with my iPhone> I know cloud is suppose to do this automatically but new to it and not sure how to make this all work.
I need to restore my phone to factory settings but don't want to lose all my contacts. How do I transfer my contacts from my iPhone 4s to my Mac through iCloud? I don't want to restore and retrieve the data but instead I want to manual import the contacts once the phone is restored like brand new.
