Some time today, my iMac started displaying some type of outline in the background. I bought it in December, and I've never had any issues with it until today. What the outline is? I heard it might be dead pixels, but I honestly have no clue. I just checked the screen again and it's normal now.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy G5 iMac, PowerPC processor has been purring along happily on MacOS Tiger for years. To synch it with an iPad, I had to move to Leopard (10.5.8)Everything works fine, except the clock: after every start, it loses the hours (but the minutes are fine). Of course, I checked for upgrades and ran the authorizations check.

My iMac 27" Clock/Time keeps reseting itself everytime I reboot it. I've tried to set it manually, but it doesn't fix the problem. It's really annoying that I have to set it everytime I turn it on.

I have it on automatic start up at 7:00 AM everyday.
I use it to put some music in the morning while I get ready for work.
Is there any way I can automatically start up iTunes, that way it would make a perfect alarm clock.
I was downloading Front Row when I realized it was just the update, not the actual Front Row. So, I deleted it and got the pinwheel of death. Next thing I know my clock and bluetooth/volume buttons on the top right are gone! Already tried going through system pref.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an intel imac - can't tell you much about the details as I can't get any info out of it. I installed snow leopard about a year ago - no issue since then other than occassionally the screen goes black but nothing major.Yesterday, I backed up to my usual passport backup and then today, it froze. I couldn't turn it off or restart at all so resorted to the power button. Since then, I can turn it on, it goes to the grey screen (no blue screen) and I get the apple logo and the spinning clock/wheel. For hours and hours....So, I tried one of the apple support pages and worked through - peripherals, safe boot, NVRAM, PRAM, tried to reboot with mac osx disc (the original not snow leopard) - nothing. Absolutely nothing changes - same old grey screen, apple logo and spinning clock/wheel.

I have the latest versions of FF (3.5) and Safari, so its not a browser issue (at least i dont THINK it is). Also, this problem started before i updated to these versions. I noticed 2-3 months ago that in websites such as YouTube, and several others, if theres two lines of words below a thumbnail, the 2nd line of words is half-hidden, as if one could scroll down to see them. But of course there =is= nothing to scroll down *to*. IN addition, on some sites, words get superimposed on top of other words. Ive tried doing some google research on this topic (including eliminating duplicate fonts), and have come up empty.
View 8 Replies View Relatedthis happened a few weeks ago when i installed an update. i tried to fix the problem by changing the default serif and sans serif fonts, but it didn't work. does anyone know what's up with this? here are some screen shots. as you can see, i did a search for the word "boogie" (first word that popped in my head) and the search results SHOW the word boogie but nothing else.
i just used safari these past few weeks, but i should probably fix this problem.
I have a Sony Bravia 32 inch HDTV and would like to display movies downloaded to the iMac on the TV. TV has HDMI inputs as well as a USB socket. Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to achieve this aim?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have this problem where I get an email that has wonderful pictures (html, css, or somthing) on my iphone and ipad they display correctly. On Mail in OSX on my iMac they are just a bunch of text and hyperlinks. A good example of this is the promotional emails from Nik Software.

I put in some CMYK values to create a navy color in Illustrator:
C: 100
M: 70
Y: 0
K: 40
I got the breakup from a pantone process guide booklet, but the color onscreen looks nothing like the printed swatch (see attached screenshot).
Has anyone else had this problem? Is it a known problem with an iMac bought early 2008?
Does anyone out there with a wifi enabled tv have any idea how to wirelessly display the imac on the tv screen? I figured since they're both wireless it could be done, maybe i'm wrong.

How many Mac users have suffered from the problem of small coloured squares appearing at random on the iMac desktop? They can be wiped by dragging a window over them but they will eventually reappear. I have discovered at least three other threads where this issue has been discussed but our local Apple store is claiming that Apple haven't declared it as a legacy fault. It would be interesting to hear how others have been treated when presenting Apple with this fault. At first they thought it was the GPU but they now think that it is either the logic board OR the logic board AND the GPU together!! Being charged between £480 and £650 to repair a machine that is less than 18 months old is a bit much from a company that continually boasts about the quality of its products.

I'm in the process of replacing my MBP with an early 2k9 iMac as my DAW machine. I'm shopping around for external monitors, and I'm leaning a 27" monitor that natively displays 2048 x 1152. My question is, if I get a dual link dvi cable- will my iMac be able to display this resolution on an external monitor?

View 14 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else had their clock freeze up on them in Leopard? It's only happened twice, and I'm not sure what triggered it (my guess would be coming back from a screensaver or from sleep) but the clock will be stuck on a certain time, if I mouseover it, I get the beachball. All other aspects of the OS and programs run fine while this is happening. I noticed iCal was still giving the date of the frozen time the clock was display when closed, but displayed the right date when i opened iCal.
