My iMac is waking up from sleep in the middle of the night. The only clue to what is going on is that is says the wireless keyboard has lost connection.
View 3 RepliesI updated iTunes to 11.4. No sooner had I done that, than I lost the connection to my wireless keyboard (Apple). iMac, OSX 10.7.5..I inserted new batteries into the keyboard. That did not work. My Apple Keyboard connected by wire operates just fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy MBP sometimes wakes up from sleep for no apparent reason. I have it set up in a closed lid/external monitor mode, with a bluetooth keyboard and a wireless usb mouse. To make sure it's not USB activity, I unplugged all USB devices, and switched the USB mouse off. Also made sure "wakeup on ethernet access" is disabled in system prefs, and software update is turned off. Looking at the console, it woke up with a reason:
Wake reason = EHC2 OHC2
Do you know what that is?
Below is a system.log snapshot and console messages when it woke up. Any ideas about what caused it?

The mini is in the entertainment center, about 7-8 feet from the couch, however it is exposed. There are no physical barriers between the keyboard location and the mini.Every once in a while the keyboard connection drops out. If I wait a few seconds, and push the power button on the keyboard, it eventually regains it's connection.

My MacBook Pro has been waking up from sleep at some of the most random times. Usually it will wake up about 5 minutes after I put it to sleep, and if I'm lucky it will stay to sleep when I try again. Sometimes it will even wake up 30 or 45 minutes after I put it to sleep. Currently, I have it connected to an external display with the laptop screen closed at all times. It is running a fresh install of Snow Leopard with barely any apps installed yet (mainly just iWork and Microsoft Offiice). I was having the same problem when I was running Leopard, thats why I did a fresh install. So this eliminates a software issue.
This has been happening for a few months now, but it has just started to become a problem for me. When I was running Leopard I did not have an external display. It was waking up at random times without anything connected to it (no display, USB, or MagSafe connected). I would be sitting next to my Mac, and all of a sudden, I hear the Superdrive wake up sound. I searched and found a thread similar to this, but hopefully it will not have the same solution as the members of the following thread had: "I had this problem with my Macbook. The fix was a logic board replacement." [URL] I have also attached a screenshot of my system.log in Console. I opened up console as soon as my MBP woke by itself. Hopefully someone here will have some idea what all the stuff in console means or maybe be able to narrow down the problem.
I've tried all sorts of sleep methods: lid, button, start menu (bootcamp) and even on mac osx. However, it will randomly wake at times which makes it frustrating because I don't want to always shut off my laptop. Anyone have this issue?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince installing Snow Leopard, I have noticed that my Mac will wake randomly. It does not happen all the time, but it does a lot. I have tried to reset the PRAM and it did not help. The "Wake for network access" option in Energy Saver is unchecked. Any ideas?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI moved my room around yesterday, and originally my iMac was in the far corner of my small bedroom. After the rearrange, now its on the opposite side of the room, and since then the iMacs internet connection has been unstable. It'll drop, randomly slow down to a crawl etc. My MacBook is fine, and so is my PS3, its just my iMac thats causing havok, all because I moved it from one side of the room to the other. I can't be because I've simply moved the iMac from one side of the room to the other can it? My MacBook can pick up a strong signal from the bottom of the garden, so the iMac really has no excuse.

1) Every time my computer goes to sleep I lose wireless connectivity and I have to log back in where as my other computers I dont have to do this it signs back in automatically
2) Some how I lost Spaces from the icon bar at the bottom of the screen and can not figure how to get it back down there.
I have an obscure brand USB keyboard that I am trying to use with my Mac Mini, with one problem: after the Mini goes to sleep and wakes up again, the keyboard doesn't work. The solution is to either unplug and replug the keyboard or restart, but both are I think unnecessary hassles.
What I like even more is that the keyboard will wake the Mini (by pressing the spacebar or something), but won't work after that.
I also tried a plain ol' Apple keyboard, which works just fine after sleeping/waking.
Any ideas on what's going wrong, or how to fix it without replugging/restarting? It's just a keyboard, so I don't see why it should pose as any real problem after waking, so buying a new keyboard is not quite what I am looking for. I may end up doing it anyways (a wireless one to go with the wireless MX1000 I am using) but at the moment I don't want to spend money for a new keyboard.

I have an "Early 2006" model iMac that has been acting a bit funny lately. This is the white 20" Rev A, first-of-it's-kinda Intel Core Duo iMac. Now it's been running pretty well since I got it almost 5 years ago. But lately some of it's activity is puzzling me. Late at night I'll be working on my MacBook and suddenly the iMac will awake from sleep mode. The fans whirl, the DVD drive makes it's usual noises, and the screen remains... blank. Seconds later the sleep light turns on and the computer returns to sleep mode. This happened again this morning when I was sitting at my desk.
I have no idea what's causing this, however it's slightly different behavior to what has happened months ago. Previously the iMac would wake up by itself in a similar fashion, but it's screen would be on and it would act like I pressed the space bar to wake it up. These activities happen randomly, and it's not too frequent, but often enough for me to be confused about this whole thing. I thought that maybe an IR remote was sending out a signal to the iMac. The iMac faces a small window in my room, so the chances are slim that this is the case, I believe I've turned off the IR sensor on the iMac, which may have solved the issue, but I have since turned it back on since I use the remote regularly. Unless there's some IR beam shooting around in my room I can't think of why this would be happening. The machine is of course out of it's AppleCare, so I'm wondering if any of you have ever heard of or experienced this problem. Any help would be great, thanks!

I just purchased a new iMac 24" 2009 Model. I also got a Wireless Mighty Mouse & Wireless keyboard. I have owned the system for 6 days and each day the Mighty Mouse and keyboard will lose connection and require me to hold the power button down on the imac to restart the system. I called apple and was told to do a "Option Command R P" Reset. This did not fix the problem... I then called them again and was told to format the system.. This did not fix the problem.. I replaced the batteries, turned bluetooth off on any near by devices changed my 802.11 freq to a different channel. It seems from information collected from other forums that this is effecting mainly the new alum 2009 imac...I am starting to think this is now hardware. Also something I noticed.. Brand new FRESH Energizer Ultimate Batteries $25. I put them into the mighty mouse. 1 day later iStat reports the mouse is at 73%!! thats a big drop in 1 day

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a 1st generation 500GB Time Capsule as I don't need the dual-band functionality of the 2nd Generation. Since setting it up I've been having a problem, whenever my iMac sleeps from a long period of time the backup is delayed when I wake the computer up. This would be less irritating if the backups continued like normal after the computer was awake, but I have to keep re-starting the backups manually to get the backup schedule back on track. This is especially frustrating as the whole point of the system is so I don't have to worry about manual backups.

Then if it wants to will find them and trying to connect to my own wireless network (apple extreme) is a challenge. I do have parallel desktop installed, could that be the problem?

I have a three month old unibody MacBook, and up until yesterday, AirPort seemed to be working just fine, but over the past 15 hours or so, it has lost its wireless connection to the router four times. Two of the times, AirPort reconnected to the router on its own within a matter of seconds. One of the other times, AirPort said that it was enabled but not connected to any networks, and I had to manually reselect my router in the drop-down to reconnect. Now this morning, AirPort lost its connection to the router yet still showed that it was properly connected, but I couldn't access my network or the Internet at all. As soon as I disabled and re-enabled AirPort, everything was fine.
On top of this, I also got my first kernel panic yesterday for seemingly no reason while I was submitting a post to a forum, and I've submitted dozens of posts to that forum before without problem, so the forum can't be to blame. Normally one random disconnect from my router wouldn't be alarming, but four disconnects in the last 15 hours combined with a kernel panic that may or may not be related certainly has me searching for answers. I'm certainly quite confounded, especially considering that I haven't modified anything with my system, nor have I installed any programs in a long time. Should I be alarmed, or could this all be some coincidence?
My Apple Wireless Keyboard is haunted. It will randomly, in the middle of sentences, or sometimes after I haven't used in a few minutes, stop responding.
The really weird part? I open System Prefs, click Bluetooth, and viola! It works again. I don't have to do anything - just open the Bluetooth prefs. As soon as I do, everything I've typed since it went dead (usually just a word or two) is actually output into the search box in Systems Prefs.
There is no rhyme or reason to this weirdness. Sometimes it will literally happen a few times an hour for days (which drives me up the wall); sometimes it'll go months without doing it. When it's doing it a lot, no amount of rebooting/relogging-in fixes it. One thing I have not tried is using a fresh user account (or Guest), because it's so unpredictable... even on my own account it will take a break and work normally for a few hours, then go right back to freaking out.
The fact that it stores everything I type when it's "not working" is the really weird part. It's like the OS is receiving the data but just forgetting to process it until I poke it and remind it, "you have stuff coming in via Bluetooth, wake up and do something with it!"
My iMac is set up wireless. Every time it's allowed to go in sleep mode, it loses wireless connectivity. Then, when I wake it up, I must go to System preferences, Network and request it to reconnect to my home wireless network. It always does this successfully, but it's quite annoying that it seems unable to achieve this on it's own. My iPad 2 and kindle can do this, why not my iMac?

Another frustrating problem started occuring in the past two days with my apple wireless alum keyboard. I lose all the F button functions like volume up/down, mute, forward track reverse and eject. This occurs if i restart the comp or come put of hibernation (there still the problem with the mouse sometimes freezing when comin from hibernation) or when i switch from mac os to windows. This problem occurs in windows (XP). Im not sure what happened but i recall windows had an update a couple of days ago!!
I checked if there is an update to sort out the bluetooth issue but nothing new.nyone having the same problem. Really annoying to shutdown and turn on the comp again just to get the buttons working again. Comp is iMac 24" Alum 2007 sep build.
After using my MacBook Pro I close the laptop and it goes to sleep. Later when I return to it and open it, sometimes it can't find the network. The computer is able to see that I have an Apple Network available, but it won't connect.Sometimes when I try to connect, it gives me a timeout. How I fix it is to walk over to the router and unplug it and plug it back in. After I get the green light again, I go to the Apple Network and it works.

I have full Wifi signal and I'm using multiple device on my Wifi which are all stable except the iMAC. We had a power failure a couple of weeks ago and since then the iMac just won't stay on the network. I have to turn wifi of and then back on to get it to join and that mitt lat 10 minutes.
View 4 Replies View RelatedEver since I updated from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7, I'm now loosing my Apple wireless keyboard and mighty mouse bluetooth connection with my MacBook Pro. At least once a day, my keyboard and mouse both loose connection. There is no lag going on before it happens, it just happens suddenly. I can get connection back to both my mouse and keyboard by simply using the trackpad to turn bluetooth off then on again from the menu bar. Up until last week this was happening on my 17"/2.6GHz/4GB previous gen MacBook Pro. I have now sold that and as I'm sitting here setting up my new 17" uMBP, I just lost keyboard and mouse connection. Grrr. Obviously it's not my machine and obviously it's not my keyboard or mouse as they both loose connection at the same time - it's 10.5.7 I'm using airport wireless 'n' 5GHz only. I also have bluetooth enabled on my iPhone, but always have - and never had issues when running 10.5.6 (or earlier). I have searched here but haven't found anyone else mention this exact problem. Strange. I would have thought that it would be common now that I've experienced it with two MacBook Pro's running 10.5.7. Can I go back to 10.5.6 somehow without having to rebuild?
View 24 Replies View RelatedMy internet provider says it has a good signal. whether i use wifi or connected straight to the modem its the same, some pages load some dont, always different on what loads and doesnt.  If i connect to a neighbour who has the exact same internet speed and provider it works perfectly fine. Ever since i did a software update 3 or 4 days ago it has been happening.

I've been using a G4 mini running 10.4.11 for web surfing, email, and document scanning for about 4 years with few issues. Recently, though, it loses its wired ethernet connection when I wake it from sleep. No ethernet device appears in Network Preferences/Network Status, and Network Utility shows the ethernet connection as "inactive". If I disconnect the ethernet cable for a few seconds and then reconnect it, the ethernet connection reappears in Network Preferences, goes "active" in Network Utility, and functions normally.
Once ethernet reappears, I can wiggle, tug, and disconnect/reconnect the cable and maintain the connection. The cable works normally with another computer. So it doesn't seem to be a hardware connection issue. The network has 2 other wired computers attached with no issues (an old homemade PC and a Mac Pro) and several other devices via both wired and wireless connections. So I don't think it is a router or dhcp issue. I don't recall installing any new software, although I install all Apple updates (including iTunes) when they become available.
I have two identical iMacs hooked up to a router. Both had no internet connection problems until now. One iMac works fine, the other just stopped. I swapped LAN cables and router ports but the iMac that quit connecting still won't connect.

I don't recall it doing this before but I have added an old p.c. to my network and got an iPad. Don't know if ether of those things have any relevance but like i said, I don't remember it happening before. From what I understand, to get spyware or malware on the computer I need to instal it. But I could be wrong. I have an iMac running 10.6.4.
