I had problems with my Apple Mail crashing and the only fix we could try after spending quite a long time on searching for the proble was to delete all my accounts and re-introduce them one at a time. But I didn't realise that would delete all my preferences and signatures
So I am having to start from fresh. I can get my text for message subject lines and the mailboxes to the size I want BUT if i have digests from groups the text is still tiny. I know I can enlarge using cmd+ but I have to do that for each message. But I can;t find the preferences

I have the newest imac and had to have a new hard drive put in, and now when I try to send an email with gmail it won't go. I also downloaded OS X Yosemite also yesterday, so I don' know if my gmail isn't working because of the new hard , or the new OS X I downloaded.
I can send emails from my Ipad with no problem, but not from my Imac, and I,m only 5ft from the Imac.

Is is possible to enlarge the text in the headings in the Desktop menu bar or use large icons, I can't find it mentioned in the 'System Preferences'.Â
Also my magic mouse will not zoom when holding down the control key and scrolling with one finger as per the booklet that came with the iMac. .

Mac screen resolution is getting higher and higher, which is nice, but the downside is that we seem to have lost "what you see is what you get." I have set the default document size of Text-Edit to about the size of an 8 1/2 x 11 document, which fits easily on the screen. I have what appears to be a single page of text. It all easily fits in the document window. The headline fits across the width of the page. But when I choose Print, the print preview shows that the text is going to spill out onto two sheets of paper.  I exit out of the print document and reduce the text size so that it all prints out on one sheet of paper. The problem is, the size of the text onscreen is now TINY! It looks like it's about 6 point while the printed text looks like it's about 12 point! No WYSIWYG!  When I revert the document to the way it was originally, where it was going to print out on two sheets of paper, and then hold my printed document up next to the screen, the printed size matches the onscreen size almost perfectly, even though, if printed out at this size, the text would spill out onto two pages and be huge. In other words, 18 point size text prints out at about 12 points and 12 pt text prints out at about 6pts, so there's about a 6pt difference in how text looks onscreen and how it prints out. Again, No WYSIWYG! My older Macs had much lower-resolution screens, but text printed out at about the same apparent size on screen. I know the original Macs had 72dpi screens so that they would closely match the printed size of text, and I like the fact that monitors keep getting better, but is there a way around this problem of printed text not matching the size of onscreen text?

I like my MacBook Air, but the font size when drafting email is a bit too small. For viewing regular email, I know I can use the Command and "=" to increase the size, but that does not work on the drafting window. how to increase the font size I view when drafting. (Just to be clear, this is just for my viewing -- I am not interested in changing the font in the email that is sent (I know how to do that).)

I'm new to IMac and I did a quick search and found nothing. I got an IMac less than 24hrs ago. With the IMac I find that I struggle to read things even with my glasses on. Is there any possible way of changing the system font so I can make it larger? Trying to read things on the imac is actually giving me a headache because my eyes are straining so much.
I'm using FireFox which is great because once you make the page larger (cmd & +) it remembers so when you go back there the page is still large and readable but things like the toolbar is unreadable. Some sites I've been on even with the page zoomed in some of the writing remains tiny and unreadable. I have the 27" IMac and to have the toolbar font so small on such a big screen seems very silly to me because it's unreadable.
My 89 year old father just bought a 27" imac and can't read the menus, etc. How can he increase the size of the menu fonts?

I have experienced problems with a POP outgoing server for some time on both my MacBook and IMac - incoming is OK. I have contacted the service provider and they say that all codes and log-in details are correct and that they can send from Webmail server ( and so can I). I can also use the outgoing server on my iPhone so it suggests that something is wrong in the settings on the iMac and MacBook - but they are correct and the same as the iPhone.I notice that this server shows 'offline' in th setting box - is this a clue?. I have not found anyway of making this server go on-line.

I changed my outgoing font to French but I can't remember how I did that. The American fla is up in the upper right corner. When I compose, it thinks I'm composing in French (with accent marks where I don't want them and the spell check marks most words as misspelled). No problem with incoming mail?
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone feel like the default text size in all applications is too small when your imac is set at it's best resolution?? I really hate to compromise some of the display quality by decreasing the resolution, but everything seems so small!!! I really hoped on a nice big screen i could look at things larger than I could on my laptop!! Is there anything I can do about this? I am new to Mac, so maybe I am just missing something.
View 5 Replies View RelatedNew to Imac and love it so far. My only issue is that when I open firefox, the text is tiny and I can't seem to modify it. I've played around with fonts under preferences>content but that doesn't help. So far I have to manually hit commant and the + sign to get the text bigger.

The website where I pay bills online has a hot link that says "print" and when I click on it, the printout is in a teeny tiny font.Â
The document that I print after paying each bill is the confirmation of the payment transaction. But it's almost too small to be read without a magnifying glass.Â
I can't find where or how to increase the font size of the printout.  Firefox preferences doesn't include any sort of font size preference to choose from; and my printer application in Settings doesn't list font sizes to choose from or to set as my default size.   Â
PageSetup allows me to choose a paper size, but not a font size. Â
