IMac (Intel) :: Logging Into Account Failed Because Error Occurred
Jun 22, 2014
I just had Apple replace the hard drive on my iMac due to a hard drive failure. I restored my data from my WD back-up drive and that seemed to go fine, but when I try to log onto my computer for the first time since the drive change, I get this error message: "you can't log into the FileVault user account 'my account name' at this time. Logging into the account failed because an error occurred." This comes at the screen where you enter your password for password protected login. Note that I've always used the password protected login and I have not forgetten my password. I shut down and restarted a couple of more times, but I keep on getting the same message.
Got my new IMAC and set up the Migration Assistance from my Old Macbook to the IMAC... it finished migrating sometime in the middle of the night and the IMAC automatically shut itself off..Â
I try to log into my IMAC now and get the error You are unable to log into Account (xxxxxxx) at this time / account failed because an error occurred.Â
I don't run a Server configuration... and all the help in the community I can find is based on Client/ServerÂ
The MacBook is OS X (10.5.2) Leopard
The IMAC is OS X (10.7. ??)Â LionÂ
This was out of the box migration, so have never had the IMAC up and running prior to this migration.Â
Logging In To The Account Failed Because An Error Occurred Log In To Account.
this is the error i get when i try to login with ad login on an imac running 10.5.8 binded to ad and od, this is once i have logged in with one account logged out and try to login with another, dns is resolving fine on both the client and the server, the server is running os x 10.5.8
I recently received an iMac as a "gift"... turns out it has some problems. I am unable to reinstall the default OS (Mountain Lion) because I have yet to be able to partition the HDD correctly. The error I keep getting is:Â Partition failed with the error: Wiping volume data to prevent future accidental probing failed. At this point, the default Macintosh HD isn't showing, so it must of been erased/deleted.Â
I'm trying to empty the trash on my iMac (running Snow Leopard) but I just get an error message: The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code - 8003).Â
Friday, when I tried to enter my computer I have received a log screen. Tried to log but I have received this message "you are unable to log in to the user account "user" at this time because an error occurred" (never happened before). I am sure that the password is correct because the screen doesn't shake, like it happens when I introduce a wrong password. Tried to reboot with "apple S" pressed to go to the root. When I access the directory "Users" I cannot see my user name anymore. Filevault is not activated, never did it. I have very important data from work (my whole year work), I don't have backup and I must not loose it. I was not trying to do an updade or anything, it just happen when I turn on the Mac.
I have tried to do the following things too: Boot from installation disk #1: Accessed Disk Utility and repaired the disk. There was one error "Mounting of the drive" that was fixed. No other errors found. When I rebooted I got the same message at the login screen. Tried to change the password. I got an error telling me that I don't have permission or an error has occurred. The volume Macintosh HD appears to be ok. Rebooted and still had the same problem.
Recently I had my Macbook pro reformatted back to factory conditions. After downloading all the software updates I tried to log into the iTunes store, but everytime I get the message " We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An Unknown error occurred (-54)" Â
I am able to connect to the iTunes store itself and look around and preview songs. but I can't log in to my account. I have the latest version of iTunes, and I haven't altered any settings in iTunes, so I'm confused as to why I am receiving this error message. Â
The other discussions and trouble shooting pages referencing the error (-54) seem to all talk about ipod sync issues or not being able to access the store in general.

I have a Mid-2007 Mac Mini and I've noticed every couple days, when I log out of the secondary account, it takes a relatively long time to return to the login screen. The blue screen sits there for maybe 30 - 40 seconds, but then when it returns to the main screen the whole machine freezes. The only thing I can move is the mouse, I can't click any of the buttons such as restart, sleep or get back into my account. I always have to do a hard shutdown.
I logged onto my iMac today and checked for any updates. I found updates for iPhoto, Thunderbolt, Airport and I think Safari. After it downloaded the updates and installed them, it wanted to reboot. Upon clicking ok, it went to a grey screen while initializing the updates, or something to that effect. Then it said an unknown error occurred and press ok to reboot. I presses ok but nothing happened, the box disappeared and the blank grey screen remained.
So I rebooted and the logon screen came up. I put my password in, which was accepted and the iMac moved on to blank grey screen with the darker grey Apple symbol in the middle and the the 'thinking' wheel doing its little circling thing just below that. It's sits there like that and doesn't move to the desktop screen. I've tried rebooting but it stalls at the same point. It's running the latest version of X. It didn't come with any disks and I don't have Time Machine.

I am getting this error "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50)." when I try to transfer files from my Mac Mini to my External Harddrive which is connected to my Airport Extreme. " The error does not appear to happen all the time. It does seem consistent if I am transfering files and then try to transfer more.  Â
The files I am transferring are .mp4. It does not appear to care about the size of the file, it happens with small files and large files, I can transfer some large folders (2.54G). I can connect the hard-drive externally directly to the mac mini and it will transfer any file.
The disc can’t be burned because an unexpected error occurred (error code 0x8002006E). I keeep getting this when I try to burn my daughters wedding pic to a dvd. Â
When I try to empty my Trash with a certain app in it I get error code -8003. I can't find reference to that code anywhere and do not know how to clean up the trash. "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003)."
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.7), iMac-24, iMac-27, G5, G4, G3, iBook, etc.
When trying to upgrade from snow leopard to Lion, I get the message "An error occurred while preparing the installation.Try running the application again."I am installing on a raid drive, which is supposedly ok.Â
I can't do much on my MacBook pro since I have this unexpected error occurred (error code -50), does anyone know what it is and how to fix it? Also when i try to open my iTunes it comes up with unknown error 13014.
For the last two days every time I try to connect to AIM in messages I get this error "An undefined AIM socket error has occurred." I have quit the app, changed servers, trashed the Prefs but none of these have cured the problem.
I got an error message while burning a CD in iTunes - "the attempt to burn a disc failed. The burn failed because of a medium write error."What does this mean and how do I fix it?
here's my problem, I recently purchased a universal drive adapter to plug in my old macbook pro's old internal hd, (have some itunes content I need to get off of it).
Everything works fine until I get to my old account folder on the external hd, the folder is completely empty. I am guessing this is due to the account being password protected.
Is there any way to access this folder (I know the old password)? some command enter the password and get file permissions?
I wanted to delete a file in my dekstop, but i can't delete it.. It pops out a message like this "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8072)."I have used "rm -rf" this kind of sudo, but it doesn't help. I can't even rename it also.
After enabling the root user and logging into that account I tried to log back into my regular user and found that everything was set back to default. No files, pictures, anything... Â
Going into the Users folder I can see my account and it has all of the files on the desktop and such.Â
How do I log back into my regular user account with all of my settings?Â
I am trying to run software update on my computer because iTunes keeps telling me there is an update available, however, when software update runs it says that my computer is upto date.Â
I have also tried to download the latest version of iTunes from Apple's website. When I try to install it comes up with this error: "An error occurred while evaluating javascript for the package"Â
I'm trying to back up my new iMac to an older time capsule. But it just won't do it. The error reads: "Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder".
A movie I purchased stops downloading almost immediately and the error message above comes up. The rest of iTunes works properly and my internet connection is fine. I was downloading numerous TV episodes before and during while this movie was in the cue without any issues. I've restarted my network and that did not seem to fix it.Â
I've deleted the movie from the cue and re-downloaded it but still same issue.Â
I'm trying to download a movie and this message keeps showing up (unknow error occurred (-50)) check your internet connection and try downloading again. I have an internet connection but every time I try to download the same message keeps showing up.
