My sister spammed a bunch of keys on my keyboard now my screen for the game had this like 3 inch gray border around the sides making the display for the game very small (about the size of a ipad mini) on my 27inch imac
I've got a 2001 Blue Dalmation that has 100 GB HD and is running OSX (10.4).The display is really fading and has a one inch black border around the edges. Is the display toast, and/or is it cost-effective to replace it?
A border appears around everything I click on - for example, the text box I'm typing in right now or any icons on the main screen. It moves as I'm scrolling down a page. It is annoying and I would like to get rid of it. It suddenly started doing this after my son hit several keys on the keyboard at the same time.Â
All of the icons and screens have been blown up which extends beyond the boundary of the monitor. It acts as though the display has been magnified and the Dock and other frames disappear off the screen. How to reset this to normal display?
Twice in the last couple of days, these white and gray vertical bars/lines would appear on my IMAC screen. In between those times, my screen just went black, but I can tell the IMAC was still on, because it wasn't a pitch black as if the computer was off. Each time, the only way I could get the screen to appear back to normal was to turn off the computer and turn it back on?
This is not good. This is my second MAC. The first one after a year and a half, just poofed up in smoke. (Seriously, that is exactly what happened. I was sitting there, and all of a sudden the screen went black and a puff of smoke appeared from the back.) And now after owning this second one for almost two years, I've suddenly started getting these vertical white and gray bars and the black screen.
Anyone have any idea? I was simply looking up info on a website when these events happened.
My intel imac 24" running mac osx 10.5 (i think, most recent one) has become stuck at the grey screen after the apple logo on a restart with the spinning gear going. This happened after restarting after using in windows mode, which I have done many times before. I have tried various things like PRam thing and disconnecting power for a while with no luck. I can start up pressing alt and get into windows mode (which I am in just now). I can startup and press c off the CD in which I have run the disk repair thing that says all is well. I tried repair permissions and it came up with some kind of error ending. I have also tried and archive install which only goes to about 5% and then tells me there is an error with installing certain files in the mac hard drive.
Upon start up my screen goes to normal gray w/apple logo and spinner then goes black. Cursor is visible and still is moveable but nothing else. I safe booted and bar came up also but then back to black screen.Â
I'm selling my old iMac and while cleaning the hard drive it froze. I forced shut down and when I turned it back on a circle with a diagonal came up initially, followed by flashes of that, a question mark and the apple symbol. Now it won't get past the grey screen and the flashing symbols. Â
My old 24" iMac had an ATI radeon 4850 card, and playing some of my favorite game titles (fallout 3, and Dawn of War) worked fine - atleast in comparison to my old White iMac 24".
Now I'm going to purchase a 27" i5 iMac with the Radeon 4850 card. My question is; since its the same GPU and playing in native resolution will be a tough job. Will the quality of playing games in 1080p be much lower?
I just want to know if this will be a significante downgrade. Or if playing games in 1920x1080 will be a good quality choice.
I just bought a windows dvd game of Toca 3, and my iMac superdrive won't load it. The drive will try and spin up, make a groaning noise a couple of times, then eject the disk. I have tried the same disk in a friends MacBook Pro, and 2 friends PCs and there drives read the disk perfectly. I have tried the disk in both windows and mac, and neither will read the disk. I have also tried cleaning the disk. My iMac is a 2.4ghz Aluminium 20incher... any help would be much appreciated, as i am currently having to use my friends MacBook Pro (unibody) to play the game and he is getting a little anoyed!!
I currently use a macbook pro, but it's getting on at 3 years old now, I never use it as a portable device and I'm desperate for a more powerful iMac.
In terms of performance I need something that can play the latest games - WoW and CoD specifically - as smoothly as possible. At the moment I'm drawn between the better 21.5" mac, or the 27" with the same settings.
1st Question: I'm fairly sure the 21.5" would play the games well, but if I upgraded to a 27" screen, would the games play slower as a result?
2nd Question: The 21.5" iMac comes with an i3 processor. Is there a big difference between the i3 and i5 in terms of performance (specifically, again, for gaming). Would it be worth getting the i5?
I got this software in hopes that i would be able to play C&C 4 on my new imac 27 inch ive installed the game in the virtual machine and everything seems good until i get to the point where it says you must have direct x 9.0 installed what does this mean? ive read a tad on the internet about the program but its already supposed to be integrated into Windows 7.
I am trying to play an old mac game called warlords on my intel mac laptop running leopard. I have yet to find a version of the game created for something other than mac os classic or windows. Is there any way around this? If I used boot camp and dual booted into tiger would that fix my problem cause tiger has the classic environment but I dont have a ppc. If that would work I am wondering if there was the potential for some of my stuff on my 100 gb hard drive to get deleted in the process because I only have 30 gb left and no external hard drive to back stuff up on.
I upgraded to lion recently and now my preschooler can no longer run The Cliffor Learning game. Error message is this machine no longer supports power PC
Alabama plays Arkansas today and [URL] is going to stream it live at their website. The game is at 2:30 p.m. central standard time. I'm not going to be here to watch the game and I no longer have satellite. We dumped it.
Is there any way for me to record it from the live stream while I'm gone?
Any programs out there anyone know about or anything already on the mac that'll do it.
I just installed windows 7 via Boot Camp, and then installed the game Left 4 Dead 2 on it and started to play the game, and everything was going well until about 20 minutes of playing it.
The game soon started/continued to slow down, or have that lag effect, however, let me note, I'm playing this offline "single player mode" just to make sure it had nothing to do with my internet. Also let me note, nothing else is running on the computer at the time, no updates, nothing.
So then I touched the top of the monitor, and it was extremely extremely hot, and of course since I'm playing a game the GPU will produce more heat, but the only thing I could think of is, the GPU is becoming too hot and effecting my game play. I know most say Apple is very smart and heat should not have an issue, but what else would cause this as everything else on my iMac works fine, and when I close out the game, everything works alright. Videos play fine etc..
I haven't heard anyone else have this problem so I wanted to ask you guys who are experts here to tell me what you think it is?
I'm a hardcore gamer that is a stickler for quality, and CRT is still the gold standard when it comes to a perfect image (not to mention the ability to run many resolutions without any quality degradation), but LCDs have come a long way. I'm likely making the switch to Mac (using Boot Camp for the few PC games I play, I mostly play consoles).
The iMac is the best fit for me but I'm concerned, when new games come out that exceed your system's specs you generally turn down the resolution to procure a quality image with a decent frame rate. 1920x1200 is a very high resolution with a lot of pixels, how much worse does the image get when turning the resolution down? Since it won't be at its native resolution I've heard that lowers image quality, but I have no personal experience since I've never used an LCD.
i have had problems with my iMac, whenever i play the my game on Java, it crashes, yesterday it started out slow, happened like every 2 hours, but right now, when i get the error, only option to pull the plug, and then restart, and i open the game again and it happens within 5 mins, i made a video of what it looks like on youtube.(Btw, its lower half of the screen black, and the top is flickering) I cant do anything anymore, i can pause the music by keyboard, which i couldnt do before on the older crashes from yesterday strange enough, and i can move the mouse, but i cant click anything or w/e.Cmd - alt - esc doesnt work either
Last night I played Skyrim on my iMac and it was fine, but I updated my Software and now when I open it the screen goes black and the game only appears on the bottom left corner and it keeps flashing..
As ( I am told , you don't need anti virus etc ) on a imac. is it safe to down load some games from site such as bigfishgames ?
They are advertising some new awesome looking games for the ipads in their emails, I do like to relax by playing games such as scrabble or doing crosswords, also I like to download you tube video's that instruct you on craft subjects. I suppose the question is , Is it safe to download anything really?
I've bought several controllers from game stop and none of them seem to work on my iMac, I have a couple first person shooters including duke nuke em' but I'm hesitant towards buying more because of the controller issue, the Xbox 360 controller doesn't work either what is the best option?
I've been playing a bit of Poker using the PKR application (It's a cider port from what I've seen). I'm finding that on my iMac (and not my MacBook Pro), after playing for a while the graphics go a little bit screwy then it freezes the entire system. To try and diagnose the problem I want to see if it's the app or the GPU which is causing the problem. Does anyone know how I can stress test the GPU?
What's odd is that even though the app seems to be very CPU and GPU heavy, I don't really notice any fan noise from the iMac. I'm just concerned that it may be overheating.
