OS X :: 10.2 Password Reset - Computer Stuck On Login Screen
Apr 6, 2009
I have a colleague who is still running 10.2 (yea I know, time to upgrade, but they haven't felt the need for it yet I guess). Anyway, someone changed and forgot, or someone did it to be a jerk, either way they are unable to update any software or even log in. Just wondering how to rest the password. The computer is stuck on the log in screen currently and they can't access anything.
Hi! Im new to the forums but i really need help with something and i was hoping someone here could help me out. So I just installed Tech Tool Deluxe onto my macbook and then shut it down later. I went back to use it again and when i turned it on a login screen appeared asking me to put in my password. I did that and the screen turned blue (looking like it was loading) and then went back to the login screen. Every time i put in my password it just takes me back to the login screen. I have had my mac for a while and i dont want my hardrive to get wiped out so what do i do? Thank you for looking
I tried uploading pictures with my s.card and then I plugged in my back up storage disk to transfer pictures and then my computer stopped working as if it was overloaded or something.... I tried forcing quit but that didn't help any. So I just shut it down in hopes that when it restarted it would work but now when it restarts the login screen comes up and after I type my password it just stays on snow leopard default screen(purple sky) and stays there.
Running whatever the latest is, but stuck in the login screen. It doesn't show my username, only "other". Repaired disk permissions and nothing!!! Still stuck in "other"... No usernames or passwords work.
I just literally updated my macbook pro to the latest version of Lion, today 4/3/12 and now it's just stuck on the main log in page for lion. As in, I type in my password, it thinks for two seconds, goes black, and has the log in page again. It just loops. No end in site. I've rebooted in safe mode, run disk utitily, and repaired the disk... but no dice, still. It repairs the disk, fine right? When I reboot in regular mode, it just goes back to the password/login screen loop.
Turn on computer gets to login in screen. Put in password. Stuck on white screen. Upon logging in. It says we need to delete files. We can't delete files because stuck on white screen.
How do I reset my "login" keychain password? I can't remember it. If it needs deleting, I don't have many passwords stored in that since I use Firefox most of the time and it doesn't store passwords in the keychain.
But when I use Safari it keeps asking for my login keychain password repeatedly.
i went about fixing up my mac ibook g4. it sat around for a while and i forgot the password to my user name. no big deal, happened a few times. so i popped in the mac osx disk. i did reset password. now here is a whole new problem i never encountered. and im not very mac savvy. basically i have no login now. when i go to reset password again it list no accounts at all... when i click on the hard drive that is.... what can i do? i heard that u can make a user name using the mac terminal thing?
So I had my Macbook repaired, the hard drive wiped clean and OS X snow leoprd reinstalled. When I arrived home I downloaded and installed OS X Lion. The Mac-authorized techy had left all of the passwords blank fo me to fill in. So how do I set the new Admin login pw?Â
I forgot my login password to my macbookpro laptop and I'm trying to retrieve the old password or make a new password so I can login and use my computer
Info: MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012), Mac OS X (10.7.4)
Is there a way to reset the login password without the installation disk? Or is there a way to get a disk sent to me? I don't have mine anymore. I'm using OS X Lion v10.7
Info: MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4)
I got this Mac pro with osx. It's a old business computer, so I don't have the login password for the user or administrator. I had this installation CD, and it worked fine when I tried holding "c" down while restarting the computer. But I couldn't fix the problem at the moment so I turned it of again. Now it won't start up as usual with the "Choose language menu" so I can't get access to the computer. I really don't know why it does it, and I'm so lost right now. How do I get access to the computer now, and reset the computer and password?
Yesterday we set up the computer at the Apple Store. When entering the Password for the computer, apparently we thought we were entering one thing when in fact we entered something else. Now I can't log into the computer to install new printer software, reset/change my password or anything else. I have tried looking through the Manual for the iMac 27-inch, Mid 2011 and can't find anything for resetting the password, finding it in the Keychain Access, etc. The computer is a waste if I can't reset the password to install the apps I need on it.
How do i reset my password to allow updates to my computer? In order to complete the update, I have to put in my password, but every password i tired isn't working so now I can't update it.What should I do?
My Mac OS x is stuck on the blue login screen. I have tried unplugging, cmd-alt-p-r which still takes me to the login screen, held down until I heard the chime three times as suggested but went to login screen. Tried going in to safe mode by holding down shift key at start up still took me to login screen. Tried to fix with boot disc and nothing comes up. By the way I wasn't really doing anything. Was checking my emails but hadn't even clicked on one when the screen totally froze. When I powered down it came back to email page. I had to force a shutdown several times and no can't get past login screen.
I recently had to turn off my MacBook Pro after it hung for a long period of time. When I turned it back on again everything started as normal and I was able to enter my password at the login screen. However, once I do so I'm just presented with the wallpaper and my (working) mouse pointer. So far, I've tried the following without success:Â
1. Boot in Safe Mode
2. Ran fsck from Terminal
3. Tried PRAM resetÂ
I've seen it suggested elsewhere that I should insert the install DVD but that's not in my possession unfortunately. Â
I have an old G4, think its a powerMac, not sure. It was given to me. When i try to boot up, its loading up, but its stuck at "login window starting" screen.
I have a password set for the only account on my mac pro. My keyboard's batteries died before I turned on the machine. I replaced the batteries and now its stuck in discovery mode and I cant type in my password in order to log in. And I don't have a usb keyboard. What can I do? Other than go out and buy a usb kb. Its the crappy apple wireless kb. Mouse is detected
I installed Mavericks and it restarted and now it is stuck on the apple screen. I've tried to reinstall and it gets to the same point. I should've have back up my Hd but did not do this. Is there any way to access my drive and save the files?
recently a friend of mine offered to update my 2009 MacBook to Mac osx Lion. when I received the computer back from him, it required a rather large update that has put my MacBook in a terrible state. Â
upon rebooting from the update, it froze at the grey Apple loading screen, and of course I thought nothing of it and gave it a little restart. Since then I cannot get it past the grey screen or the login window. it seems as though I cannot type in my password or click 'sleep' or any option the window gives me. I've been working on this issue all day, and I've tried countless things from the apple support community, with no avail. Â
I've tried clearing the cache, I've tried safe mode, I've tried the command+option+control+enter trick on the login page, I'm even trying to boot from the install disc my friend gave me...and it's just refusing to move past the grey screen. Â
