IMac :: Finding The Slimkey Stand From Macessity?
Nov 12, 2009
Just wondering if anyone owns the slimkey iMac stand from macessity this or a similar model?
I'm just wondering if the stand is high and wide enough to accomodate the magic mouse next to the wireless keyboard, as this will really help to keep my desk tidy when i'm not using my iMac.

I'm looking for a stand specifically designed for an iMac. Does anyone know where I can find one? I think I need something around 3-5 inches higher?

Looking for a stand, and I have a certain one that I can't find anywhere on the internet anymore even though I remember seeing it. It's a stand for the MBP that looks almost identical to the iMac and 24'' ACD stand. Is there a link or anything?

Which speakers are better, the ones that come built-in on the '09 24" iMac or Logitech X230? I'm not sure what the iMac's speaker stats are, but here are the stats for x230's:
# Total RMS power: 32 W RMS
Satellites: 12 W RMS (6 W x 2)
Subwoofer: 20 W RMS
# Total peak power: 64 W
# Frequency response: 40Hz - 20kHz
# Drivers:
Satellites: (2) 2" drivers per satellite
Subwoofer: 5.25" ported driver
# Speaker dimensions (H x W x D, cm):
Satellites: 20.3 X 6.4 X 7.6
Subwoofer: 22.9 x 15.2 x23.5
# Signal-to-noise ratio: >96dB
Reason I ask is that I have the x230's and they're considered as cheap speakers, so I don't know if I should use them with the iMac or not. The one advantage I see them having over the iMac's is that they have a 20w subwoofer, but I don't know if the satellites are better or not.

I mean when it is upright on a desk, not just length measurements for the screen. I am afraid that the 27'' might have put my current desk out of commission
..or at least the shelf on top that stabilizes it.

Are there instructions anywhere as to how to remove the 27" iMac from the stand holding it up? I want to transport it without the stand attached and reattach it. Do I need any special tools? Can't find anything via google or other forums on exactly how to do this. It can't be too hard being that the Vesa mount is suppose to be easy to put on.

It's like the LED Cinema Display, it's more of a Triangle shape than the old ones. I know it's a really small thing but it makes it look much better.

This post is a follow-up question to my earlier post, Best Arm Options For New 27" iMac...
(A) Does anyone know what the weight of the stand that comes with one of the new 27" iMac weighs alone?
(B) If not, is there anyone who (i) has removed their stand and has it at hand, and (ii) has a functioning weighing device available for use?
(C) if neither, thanks for reading, and goodnight!

I just received my new IMac and was starting to do some typing for a school project when I noticed that the keyboard bottom stand was uneven so whenever I type it bounces much like a chair with uneven legs. I was wondering what to do because now I have to stick a credit card underneath it to keep it from moving.

I am looking for a stand for my Macbook Pro (particularly looking for an aesthetically pleasing one). On the Apple website there are 2 choices...the Griffin Elevator, the Rain Design mStand, and the Matias iFold. In your opinion is there one of these that's any better than the others? Which one would you go for?

asically I am looking at buying a 27" iMac (will be getting after WWDC just incase they bring new ones out!) and would love to be able to play PS3 on it. I have heard on here that it is possible but you need to buy an adaptor, however I cannot find any adaptors for sale on British websites, only American.

I have an aluminum macbook and I just bought a monitor for it. I want to have the macbook closed on a vertical stand but I am concerned about heat problems. Does anyone use their macbook on the vertical stand most of the time and if so do you encounter any heat problems? and are there any stands out there that cool it as well so you don't have to worry about over heating?

I'm considering buying/making a stand for my MBP but have limited desk space, so what I ideally want is a stand which will hold my laptop, fully opened, with its screen completely vertical against, say, the wall behind my desk. If this is hard to imagine, think of it this way: say you're looking at the laptop from the right hand side, in it's normal open position it makes a kind of '9-o-clock' shape with the screen perfectly vertical and the keys perfectly horizontal. I'm looking for more of a '7-o-clock' but where the screen is raised to eye level, whilst still perfectly vertical

I am trying reorganize my desk a bit I am looking for a good monitor stand (I guess this is what you would call such an accessory) . I have a 15" mbp and a 20" external dell monitor. Right now I just have my macbook sitting beside my monitor in clam shell mode. It occurred to me that this is a giant waste of good desk space. The solution I have pictured in my head is some kind of stand that I can put my monitor on that has enough space under it for my closed mbp (with enough space for decent ventilation too). So if anyone knows of a nice stand that would do that, I would love to hear about it.

I just purchased an 11" MacBook Air and I'm loving it! I'm using it with the 24" Apple cinema display and was wondering what some of you are using as a stand. There doesn't seem to be much available to accommodate the smaller size. I'm currently using an mStand that I had from owning my just recently sold MBP. I'm considering a TwelveSouth BookArc, but I'm not sure if it will fit the 11" Air. Can anyone confirm this?
I'm looking for something that's not only aesthetically pleasing, but also something with a smaller footprint that will free up some desk space. Please share your thoughts, ideas, opinions, and solutions!

I did a quick forum search and didn't come up with anything. I'm looking for a vertical stand for my Macbook to use while at home. I need to free up some desk space and that looks like the perfect solution. Alternatively I'm thinking of building a shelf under the desk to slide it in while I'm using the external monitor.

How do ya'll "hold" your Airs when you're on the couch, etc? My last few years of Apple notebooks have all been 15"ers (PowerBooks/MBPs) and I've always used a 15" iLap vs. putting the warmer-than-I-like notebook directly on my lap. I'm reading that the Airs run cooler than the MBPs, so I'm wondering if I'll even need a 13" iLap for it. Just curious how everyone manages theirs.

I'm in a market to buy a new Mac Mini. I'm looking at my options and I met a seller that is willing to sell an used Mac Mini Server for the price of a regular Mac Mini. I have no idea what it is and don't even know why I'm considering it, but for $500 I'm curious. What is the biggest difference between a Mac Mini and a Mac Mini Server? My online search comes up with reviews of Mac Mini Server "as" a server. I'm not looking to do that. Just thinking of using it as a desktop that I would use it with Mac Mini. No optical drive, lack of expansion, I get all that. Can I use it as a stand alone desktop? It I were to buy it for it's full retail it would be a waste of money, but I can get it cheap.

I just got an insatiable curiosity to understand Mac OS X's disk identifying convention. I know the first disk in a system is "disk1", and the first usable partition is disk1s2. I'm assuming that disk1s1 holds partition information (the partition map maybe?) and that's why the first usable disk is "s2", but my question is pretty simple:
WHAT DOES THE "s" STAND FOR?!
