May 23, 2012I use a few really useful applications on my desktop Mac, for example Firebox (encrypted database for passwords), CheckBook (to manage my bank account) and Bento (to store information in a flat database format).As the information is important to me, I would like to have offsite backups, in case my Mac and local external backup drives get stolen or my house burns down.I used to be able to do this by simply dragging these files to my iDisk.I have installed the iWork apps on my Mac but it is the files created by non-iWorks apps that I want to be able to backup off site.Can I still do this on the iCloud service or have Apple completely removed this facility, previously available on iDisk?
If Apple no longer provide this, it is likely they will in the future?
If Apple are no longer providing this, what is the best alternative?

Mar 27, 2012New Macbook pro have the latest version of iphoto but it has online file sharing with MobileMe and not icloud. My new ipad has iphoto and it has projects and photo sharing via icloud. I have checked for updates via the app store and downloaded the latest update 9.2.2 but get messages saying this version can only be updated via the app store. Dec 3, 2014I am using OSX 10.6.8 in a MAC Pro desktop. I want to use the Cloud to sync my desktop calendar with my iPhone 5 calendar. When opening up preferences, iCloud is not among the "Internet & Wireless" options. I went into my Applications folder, looking for the App Store application, thinking I could get the application and reinstall the Cloud option. It was there, but a window came up saying: "You can't open the application App Store because it may be damaged or incomplete."  So, what would I need to do? I don't have the actual disk for this version to reinstall. If I upgrade to OSX Yosemite, I'm afraid I'll have to upgrade all my main applications to be compatible.

Nov 20, 2009My pointer/trackpad is doing weird things on its own.
For example: If my pointer is sitting idle it displays a drop down box that says "Back,forward, stop, bookmark this page, send link, view all,and various other selections." Another example, if I use the trackpad to go to an icon on my dock, sometimes it takes the icon and takes if off dock and removes it. Another example, if I'm down at the bottom of my screen and typing like I am now, I get done and say I scroll up to the top to go somewhere else, all the areas that I traveled across get highlighted (like a paste and copy highlight). I have checked my settings in trackpad and that looks fine. I have rebooted, shut down, unplugged my internet and even went to disk utilities and repair. I did notice this after I have visited a site to order something that I needed to add a picture too. In order for me to drag my picture to thing I was ordering I needed to use their tool. It was after this that my pointer/track pad has been working weird.

Apr 30, 2012On a white plastic unibody macbook 13in, with 10.6.8, and safari 5.1.4, I can not update flash, nor can I download Google Chrome. They both go to a blackscreen for under the tabs, but load the progress bar/url bar. Additionally, the problem is similar in Firefox, which leads me to believe that this may be a OSX issue, not a safari issue. Please help, this is incredibally annoying for someone who plays a large quantity of flash games, uses youtube, et cetera.
