ICloud :: Uploading IBooks And Keynotes Files To Server
May 4, 2012
I was using iwork.com to upload Keynotes and other Mac app files to clients. I see now that icloud will be used for this and I need to know how and if I can upload IBooks Author, IBook and Keynote files to the icloud server so a client of mine can download.
I recently purchased a MacBook Air to use as a travel computer and wanted to share a few things between my desktop and the new Air. I had considered using DropBox, but figured I'd spring for iCloud Drive instead since it's part of the "eco-system"...Â
Trouble is, the files I want to upload to iCloud Drive don't seem to be uploading. Maybe I don't understand how iCloud Drive works, but I was under the impression that it was similar to DropBox and that I could upload any type of file. I have two encrypted disk images that contain all of my PDF receipts, tax info, etc. I want to store both of these on iCloud Drive. I also use MacGPS Pro for mapping and wanted to store the two map folders. The map files are all .PICT and there's another folder containing .IEM files (whatever those are). Neither the disk images, nor these two map folders, seem to be uploading. A few of the PICT files uploaded, then it just stopped and hasn't worked since.Â
Also, I can't find any way to see whether a file has been uploaded, is waiting to upload, etc. DropBox is far more intuitive in that respect. Is this information hidden somewhere for iCloud Drive? Or does Apple just think we don't need to know it? I look at iCloud Drive on my desktop Mac and I see all of the files I expect to be there. But then I look online or on the Air and realize that virtually none of them exist in the cloud. Very counter-intutive.Â
Does iCloud Drive not work the way I think it does? Or is iCloud Drive another half-baked cloud storage solution like iDisk that I should drop for DropBox, which I know works?Â
I create a file with Keynotes. I save it in my Mac. But how do I move it/save it in to iCloud? I can't find the automatic way to do it. At the moment, I am opening iCloud in my browser and move the file manually.
Not sure of this is the proper forum. I am having trouble with Mail in Lion. It was working fine until recently. My .me account is not uploading all the time in the Mail application. I don't have any problem obtaining my mail elsewhere (iphone, ipad, PC with Firefox). Just this mail account. It shows the alert triangle with the exclamation point.
It started only recently. I don't have any new software installation. I was trying to upload my resume to dice. I clicked on the choose file and boom! The finder window came up and the so did the spinning ball. I force quit safari - everytime.
When I try to upload or import files, the selection window appears for a quick moment, then disappears before I am able to make selection. I first noticed it when I was trying to upload a few photos on facebook, then it did it with flickr, then I wasn't able to import a file from Adobe After effects and it sometimes does it when I try to attach a photo in an email. I don't know what is going on but I am getting scared that I will never upload or import again.
I've tried to upload a Keynote presentation to iCloud by dragging it from my Mac and dropping it into Keynote on iCloud. It begins to upload but within 10 seconds I get an error message:Â There was a problem uploading a presentation Try again later?Â
does anyone know a place i can find all the icons used in keynotes that apple do. I would also like all the pictures they use in their keynotes of their various products (ipods, macs, iphone) Does anyone know i can find fairly large versions of these?
I've got to have a presentation done for tomorrow and only have mac's at my house now! However I will be doing the presentation on a PC with powerpoint! When you save as a powerpoint are there certain things which don't convert like changing a 2007 to older versions of MS Office? It could be a bit embarrassing if it doesn't all convert!
I had a Mobileme account and have changed over to iCloud. In the last three days when receiving mail my accounts have gone offline on two different computers. I can still access them by signing into iCloud, but not from the mail application. I went to accounts and the "incoming mail server" is blank. I have tried creating a new account with "imap.mail.me.com" , but it still did not connect. Has something changed at iCloud?
I have a presentation tomorrow, which we found out was due then today, teacher was sick and blamed us for not being ready, but whatever. I just need to get this done and it's finished. I need to get a video to use but our school blocks youtube, so how can get it in a slide on keynote?
I had a goodworking SUS (10.6.8) working but the drive is getting full so i change the location of the files to another disk (in the xserve)and follow instructions from Apple (page 84 from the manual System Imaging) sudo cp -p /private/var/db/swupd/html /Volumes/My_Volume/My_Software_Updates_Folder/This works and i copy the files to a new drive. I also change the SUS so that theu host files for Lion clients url..works also, start SUS in Server Admin but when clients wants to connect i get an error that there is no SUS available and when i use the browser for an check i get een Forbidden error url...ForbiddenYou don't have permission to access /index.sucatalog on this server.Apache/2.2.21 (Unix) Server at 127.0.0.1 Port 80.
I recently attained a new client for IT support, and they have a xserve running Mac 10.4.11, for which the previous IT company supporting it did not give them the admin password. Also they don't have any restore discs of any kind. What I would like to do is wipe the server and upgrade to the newest version, because currently there are only two people touching the server, so now would be an optimal time to do the upgrade before it increases to more. But my main concern is getting access to the files of other users on the server so that I can copy them to an external hard drive, (i'm from the PC environment so essentially taking ownership of the files). What is the best way for me to do this in the Mac world?
The other thing I wanted to know is this server with the following specs, is even sufficient to support the newest version: [code]
I've been having trouble downloading files from an ftp server (URL) on Finder and while it does fully download eventually, it takes a while and if I click the x to stop it, the download won't stop. Is this a known problem with Finder, is it a glitch, or is it my internet connection.
I have a G4 running 10.4.11 I want to get iCloud but I'm having problems. I don't want to chane my email address for many reasons but don't have the money to get a MacPro or Lion operating system.
I get "timed out" and "connection refused" when trying to get mail with T-bird 12.0.1.Server Settings: Server Type: IMAP Mail ServerServer Name: imap.mail.me.comPort: 993Username: (my iCloud email address)Connecion security: SSL/TLSAuthentication method: Normal password iOS: 10.7.4 (Lion)Mail works fine with browser and iPad.
Info: MacBook Pro and Mac Pro (mid-2010), Mac OS X (10.6.2)
Using iCloud through Mail on OSX 10.7.4, I cannot send any emails.I receive them just fine, but it will always timeout when trying to send emails. The smtp server I seem to be on is p02-smtp.mail.me.com. I tried to ping it and it has 100% packet loss, although this might just mean they reject ICMP requests.Sending from my iPhone or iCloud on the web works just fine.
Back to My Mac worked in Snow Leopard, now when I check back to My Mac in Icloud settings I get the errort message "server not responding" and it tells me to switch it off and wait 15 seconds before turning it on again.
Apple support pages have no more suggestion than this. The rest of Icloud works fine, just Back to My Mac that is gone
I just had to change my apple id password. Now when I try to use email, a box comes up saying "cannot send message using the server iCloud". What can I do to get email to work again?
