If I use the iCloud suggested settings as per: ENTERING iCLOUD MAIL SERVER SETTINGS IN SNOW LEOPARD
as per Roger Wilmut's suggestions -[URL]...will all my other incoming and outgoing mail accounts still work as usual?Â

Mail won't download on my Snow Leopard Macbook Air. Activity icon keeps spinning then it asks for my MobileMe password and keeps spinning. What's the issue? I have iCloud on my Lion Mac Mini and iPohne 4S and they work fine. Is this the same old legacy system not supported aggravation?

I'm having problems with mac mail. It won't accept my icloud/ mobileme password. So I'm unable to get my mac email on mail... It was working fine for years, no suddenly not...Â
View 6 Replies View RelatedI followed the steps outlined in [URL]to move my Snow Leopard's MobileMe mail account to an iCloud account in the Mail app (deleted the old MobileMe account from the sidebar and followed the steps to create a new one for [URL]. Before doing that, I had gone online and changed my very old AppleID's password so that it conformed to the new requirements. I also set up the MobileMe in System Preferences to be using that new password. It seems to be happy with the new setup/password. Â
I can get my iCloud mail on my iPad and on my MBAir when I use Safari. But the Mail app continues to loop, asking me to enter my password -- and then informing me that "The MobileMe IMAP server "imap.mail.me.com" rejected the password for user [URL]I compared my Mail settings for the new iCloud account to what's given in the instructions and cannot spot anything amiss.Â

I recently did the mobileme to icloud swtich to keep my me.com email.Since Snow Leopard doesn't have an iCloud option and the MobileMe account option no longer works, I had to switch to create a new IMAP account with all of iCloud's server info.Ever since, the mac mail.app has been downloading messages practically non-stop.Every few minutes it will download 5000+ messages and growl notifications will fill up my screen. My mail folder is currently at 20gb and growing. I know there isn't that much mail data on the server as I originally had my mobileme limit set much lower. I tried deleting the account and creating a new one again, however it still happens.Â

I am losing random incoming emails in my .mac email address. I first discovered it last week when my wife was getting emails that I was copied on that I never got. Checked inbox, trash, junk, iCloud and never could find them. Then today, just by chance, I had to verify a link via that email address. When the verification is sent, I see it hit the inbox with the new email counter and then it immediately disappears. I have disabled all my Apple Mail rules and Smart Mailboxes. As I mentioned, I have checked everywhere I could think of that it might be going.

Why have the Mail servers seem to have forgotten my password, when iCloud and Apple servers have not?Username and password are the same for all). Why,when Apple had a much better system than Windows, does Apple tyr to be more and more like Windows: more complicated and less useful?

My husband's computers use Tiger and Leopard (10.5.8) to access his email on the Mail program. His mail is from Comcast and uses the Comcast server, not apple or iCloud. His mail suddenly stopped working a couple of days ago.....as it did on one of my machines that still uses Tiger. He had not done any updates that could have broken the software. He does not have iCloud except on his phone and he doesn't even have a .mac address. There is no reason for the comcast server to not be able to be accessed by Mail app. He did finally update everything that needed it and it still does not work. Why would Apple's change over to iCloud break email access from other servers and how can we fix it. He really doesn't want to do his mail on Comcast's web site as it's slow and awkward.Â

After clicking on 'get mail' the download bar shows activity but no mail is downloaded to the inbox. Checked to see if for some reason mail is being downloaded to another box but not so.I know that mail is being sent because I can receive it on my iphone under same email address.Email was working ok until yesterday when this started happening. Not sure what to check or how to correct.

In Mail, is there a way to print the list of mail activity in a folder without actually printing each email?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a rule that copies an email to the ON MY MAC and then another that MOVES TO A FOLDER in Mobileme. They are in this order. The problem is when I quit Mail the Folder I am copying to is changed to the Mobileme folder so I end up with a duplicate. It doesn't change until Mail is quit. The other odd part, there one arragement like this that did savef at some point and works as expected.Â
I have tried having both of these rules combined into 1 and have the same results.
When I try to change the settings for my Mail app, in Snow Leopard, the incoming mail settings are greyed out. What do I do to be able to change these?Â
(I had a problem, with my Mail account, which a consultant fixed for me on my laptop. But I cannot remember what he did to access the incoming mail server preferences, and make the changes, because on my desktop these are still greyed out.)

One IMAP account is intermittently losing all mail in inbox except for one message. After doing opening program the receive wheel spins for a long time, but at this point there are only 170 emails in the inbox because we moved all the rest to the on my mac inbox to try to solve this porblem. There are two accounts, both from the same provider, but one of them takes a long time to receive new mail.  The wheel spins for a long time - each time it gets mail.Â
Several times after finishing receive cycle, all the mail that was in the inbox disappears, except for one. I was able to get the emails to retrn by going into settings>accounts> and changing a random setting and then changing it back the way it was. All settings appear to be correct and match the other other account that is working correctly.Â

I thought that we could still access our dot mac accounts on older equipment. It's too early to retire my G5 Quad, it is still my daily driver. I did succome to temptation and "moved" to iCloud on my MBP and iPhone, when I got home I discovered that Mail didn't work on my Quad. I changed the incoming settings, still no luck. I've been a user since the iTools days.

i think my old adressbook programm has no function for it is not synced with the icloud adressbook. is this correct?Â
i dont understand why a new software product like icloud ignores 'old' OS? is it really so complex to addapt the software. is idisk not a similar function?

How do I set up my Apple email account (.me) in the Mail application on my Power PC G5 (OSX 10.5.8) after converting my Mobile Me account to iCloud on my other supported devices? I tried changing the incoming server from "mail.me.com" to "p99-imap.mail.me.com" as found in the Mail application on my Laptop, which is now running Lion.

I'm just wondering if there is a way to get iCloud on my Snow Leopard Mac.
In System Prefences, there is just MobileMe.
How can I get iCloud without Lion?
Since updating to Snow Leopard 10.6.1 Mail.app has been unable to retieve IMAP mail from my OS X Leopard 10.5.x server running the standard cyrusd. Does anybody have any clues? Mail just sits there syncing the mailbox forever, it never stops. If I turn on logging to file, it just continuously FETCHes from IMAP and never ends. It's driving me mad. My iphone can get the IMAP mail from the same server absolutely fine. I added the mail account to a new OS X Snow Leopard user account, and that also failed to get anywhere. So its not corrupted data on my MBP. It doesn't appear to be corrupted data on the OS X server either, as the iPhone works.

iCloud, Is there a way to get it working in Snow Leopard?Â
Be careful what you say here, they are watching...
Trying to get icloud, installed snow leopard, now it says I need OSX, but my processor isn't right for it. Is this possible? Do I need to buy a nw computer? will I loose all my mobile me storage?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI believe I've researched enough posts here on Apple Discussions to tell me that what I want to do is possible, but I want to confirm it before I take some irrevocable action. So, first I'll describe what I want to do, then my understanding of how to do it, and then ask my questions.  I want to keep my mac.com email functionality for my primary account, my aliases, and my email-only accounts—all of which use mac.com addresses. For now, I don't care about contacts, calendars, bookmarks, or any other syncing except mail server syncing with my SeaMonkey mail client on multiple Snow Leopard Macs.I can't install Lion (yet) on all of my Snow Leopard computers. I have some software compatibility issues that have yet to be resolved, and one machine (Macbook Pro Core Duo) isn't compatible with Lion at all.I have several IMAP and POP mail accounts that forward to my primary mac.com address, and I would like that to continue. It's my understanding that I can log into my MobileMe account, select the "Not all devices meet requirements" option, agree to the iCloud Terms of Service, and then click the Move to iCloud button to use Apple's mail services with iCloud after MobileMe ends. Here are my questions:Will the move to iCloud work as described?Do I need to claim I have Lion installed on all devices? (I don't.)Will all of my existing mac.com email-only accounts and aliases continue to work after I move to iCloud? (I seem to recall reading somewhere that the paid-for email-only accounts will work, but the aliases wont...but I'm not certain that's correct.)Will I have full access to all iCloud features on any Mac on which Lion is installed?I currently have some web content hosted on my iDisk, and I understand that the iDisk will disappear on July 1. Is there some equivalent functionality in iCloud, wherein iCloud will host browser-based web content? That doesn't appear to be the case, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.Â
