ICloud :: Mail Account When MobileMe Switches Off?

Mar 16, 2012

I have migrated my Mobileme data to iCloud because my iMac supports Lion. However, my wife's iMac, running Snow Leopard cannot be upgraded (if that's the right word) to Lion so cannot migrate. She currently has a .mac email only ID through Mobileme which is functioning OK but my question is, will she still be able to use it when Apple switches off Mobileme?

MobileMe :: Can Get Rid Of ICloud Account Set Up To Personal Domain Email

Jun 19, 2012

When iCloud first arrived, I guess I signed up for it using my regular e-mail address. This e-mail address is at my own personal domain. I've had MobileMe and just got rid of it, essentially transferring it over to iCloud. So I now have two iCloud accounts, one set up for my personal e-mail, one with my old MobileMe stuff including my Calendar, Contacts, and Me.com E-mail (which I do use sometimes). What to do? I don't want 2, as it will get so confusing. Any way to combine? Can I get rid of the iCloud account set up to my personal domain email? Also, what about my iTunes Store account, which is set up with personal domin email?

MobileMe :: Mac Mail Sbcglobal Account Suspended

May 7, 2012

I'm really confused about how to transfer my Web-based mobile me account to my Mac Mail.I used to have sbcglobal.net as my Mac Mail but it was suspended recently (I was on my father's ATT&T account and he stopped using AT&T).So, now I need to have another one of my email services (don't know what you call that) on my Mac Mail.It makes sense to migrate my Mobile Me over to my Mac Mail I would think. If I did that, would that still allow me to have a Mobile Me account that's web based? Also what is this Cloud thing and how would my transferring Mobile Me over to my Mac Mail effect that Cloud Migration?

I also have a lot of files on IDisk which I'm guessing is stored on Mobile Me? So what do I do with all those files as I understand that "the Cloud" is not going to keep all those files? Should I save all those files on an external hard drive. I really wish my 3-year tech support hadn't expired.I'm afraid of screwing things up and losing all my Mobile Me mail which would be a disaster!

MobileMe :: Migrating To ICloud And Want To Backup Mail?

May 24, 2012

From what I can figure out, MobileMe stores my emails on the server. Does that mean I don't have a copy of my emails on my hard drive even though I check email using the Mail application on my MacBook Pro?  In the sidebar of Mail I notice there's a section called "On My Mac" with a folder called "Local Backup" with a bunch (but not all) of the same folders that are under ".Mac Account". The most recent email in these folders is from 2010. I have no idea how this folder got there or if it's even needed.Am I obsessing over this for nothing? I feel like I should have a backup of my emails after reading that once I've migrated to iCloud, I'm cut off of MobileMe. I need to delete my MobileMe account from my iPhone before migrating to resolve an Address Book historical sync problem. That means the only copy of my emails will be on MobileMe which I won't be able to get to. Unless of course, Mail saves them somewhere on my hard drive.

ICloud :: MobileMe, ICal, ISync, IDisk Won't Work In Mountain Lion?

Mar 2, 2012

I spent some time avoiding Lion after being part of seeding, even to the extent of buying a new MacPro last year, that would not require Lion. I wish to stay with Snow Leopard until a new OS apeals to me, might be Mountain Lion, might be Puma or Lynx. I now see that I have been caught out - MobileMe, iCal, iSync, iDisk etc will end and move (with limited comparability to MobileMac) to iCloud, and so far, it seems that this requires Lion exclusively!

Is this really so? Has Apple really become so violently unfriendly to its friends and associates - its Users, that it will actively and knowingly ignore their pleas, for a return to intelligent Operating Systems and Applications - I was told recently that Apple was only interested in those who are not yet Mac users. This would be very sad.

It does fit though with Apple's behaviour regarding FCP - I'd used used FCP since version 1, now I must stay with the ever aging version 7 or go to Adobe or Avid - neither of whom I enjoy working with. I might just have to invest huge money into a Heavyworks or Quantel system - I loathed FCPX! But really this is ultimately about Apple's direction. Why has it now become so narrow, when once it was possible to be many versions behind the current and still function?

ICloud :: Mail Application Not Working After Moving From MobileMe

Software :: Won't Work With MobileMe And Mail Settings

Jul 13, 2008

I have a forwarding email address that I give out to everyone as my main address - it saves hassle with different addresses, changing of ISP and instances such as the Apple shift to Mobile Me. However, I want to set-up MobileMe so that my forwarding address appears as the from address in emails. How can I do this? I've tried to add it as one of the addresses in the Mail app Preferences pane but this seems to create a problem with sending.

Applications :: Won't Work With Mail App And Mobileme / Error

Jan 20, 2009

I'm using this software with my MobileME account, and an error occurs when I send mails with attachments. I'll give an example: Imagine that I want to send an e-mail to someone, and I want to attach a 10MB file to it. When I do that, the e-mail takes quite some time to send, because I'm not sending 10MB but... 3 or 4 times more!

Exactly. This happens over and over again. The e-mail sent is always 3 or 4 times larger than the original e-mail. I've checked - and re-checked this - several times using iStat widget. If I send a 10MB e-mail, the total upload is going to be over 30MB!

Applications :: Won't Work With Multiple Mail / After 10.6.2 Mobileme Update

Nov 11, 2009

I installed the 10.6.2 2 days ago, shut down the computer, and let it rest overnight. When I booted, I had no immediate problems. Then that whole mobileme outage thing occured. No biggie, everything functioned fine. After the outage, I had booted Mail to find that only my mobileme account was added. I tried a mail/accounts sync, but nothing happened. I re-added each other account (gmail and college) with no problems, even all the mail was still stored that had been downloaded.

Now I'm finding some little tweaks are off. My "unread messages are bold" was unticked, despite never having altered these settings. Signatures for the accounts were 50/50, with some being removed and some remaining. Anyone else experiencing weird things like this since the combo of the 10.6.2 update and mobileme? The only additional change that happened on my computer was installing Parallels 5 upgrade.

Software :: Step By Step Guide Required For Converting POP Gmail Account To IMAP, With Mail?

Jul 16, 2008

I've been using Apple Mail with POP Gmail for a few years now with problems. Generally I ignore the Gmail side of things and only ever access through Mail at home, and also use a Blackberry to send and receive emails.

At the moment Gmail pushes mail to my Blackberry and also holds it in the Inbox at Gmail until my Apple Mail app on my iMac downloads it, whereupon it's all moved to All at Gmail. This works fine, but is a problem when I use Mail on my Powerbook - once it downloads the new mail, Gmail moves it to All mail and when I get home and fire up my iMac's Mail, those emails won't appear there. Annoying. So, I need to go IMAP.

My problem is that as I have never bothered with tagging or sorting things on the Gmail side of things, and have done all my ordering through Apple Mail with custom folders and rules, I get the impression all that work goes out the window and I have to start over in terms of organising again, and that in fact any rules I want to set that I want to be duplicated across devices have to be done on the Gmail webpage. Is there any way whatsoever of somehow exporting my Apple Mail rules over to Gmail so that when I change to IMAP it somehow keeps things as they are as best as possible?
