View 3 RepliesI have a customer who owns a Mac and when she attempted to download an unzipped embroidery file (jef extension) she was greeted with the message this was not possible, that it had to have a .dmf extension and she was given the option to use both (nameoffile.jef.dmf)This did not work at all.
How do you download an embroidery file while keeping the extension intact? She transfers her file to a jump drive and then to her machine. We tried downloading directly to the jump drive - same message. She is going to try to use her Windows parallel and see if that will work.
I wasn't paying attention when installing the windows XP and I choose the "Leave the current file system intact" option and I am unable to boot up my IMac. Its a black screen saying failing to boot from cd, press any key to reboot and it doesn't. I have ejected the cd and I been trying to hold down the option button to choose which to load up from but it doesn't work. I have an external hard drive that I been using for time machine, is there any way I can boot up from that disc and then have the hard drive in the IMac reset to the mac OS X partition? Running Mac OS X Leopard to its fullest updated on Intel core duo IMac with 2 gigs of ram
View 4 Replies View Relatedi'm using macosx 10.6.4 and bootcamp assistant 3.1
now here is the problem my windows 7 is infected with virus (thats why windows suck big time) and i need to reformat my windows 7 and reinstall a new windows 7.
how am i supposed to do it? insert the installation disk and do like how we initially installed windows 7? just format the partition and reinstall again? i just want to make sure so i ask before doing anything.
or can i do this? i use winclone to restore? any1 have any idea? i'm new to all this i dont know how to do it. i have backup using winclone but how do i do it? do i still need to format then only use winclone?
So I thought I was a know it all and thought I could remove my Windows partition without reading the instructions. Typically one would do the following:
1. In Mac OS X, quit all open applications and log out any other users on your computer.
2. Open Boot Camp Assistant, in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder.
3. Select "Restore the startup disk to a single volume" and then click Continue.
However, I messed it up. Instead of going through Bootcamp assistant, I went through Disk Utility and "erased" the Bootcamp volume. Now I am not sure where I at? I erased it, but you can still see the Bootcamp volume listed. And now when O try to use Bootcamp assistant to remove the partition I get the following:
The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition. The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS extended (journaled) volume or already partitioned by boot camp assistant for installing windows. I want to reinstall a Windows, but want to start fresh.
I have Parallels 3 installed, mostly to run MS Money. Last night I installed Snow Leopard, unaware that Parallels 3 is not compatible. It appears that I need to go out and buy Parallels 4 as that will work with Snow Leopard.
My question is will all my data within Windows remain if I install 4 or will it be a completely new Windows? And if so, how do I go in and retrieve my MS Money data as I can no longer access it with Parallels 3.
I am thinking of getting Snow Leopard tomorrow, but I was wondering if I do a clean install, can I keep my XP bootcamp partition or do I have to remove that as well?

View 3 Replies View Relatedcan i want to keep my music on my external hd for my itunes in windows but can i let my mac use the drive to copy music and videos to it and let my windows machine use it too. I think the playlist would would not copy right. This is done by letting windows share the drive that has the music folder in it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOk so I want to reinstall Windows completely so what I did was I created a partition to store all the files that I wanted to keep - music, videos, etc.So if I reinstall Windows on the essential partition, the C: drive, and afterwards I move all my movies, videos, etc. to the essential partition with the newly reinstalled Windows 7, and deleted the partition I used to store the music and videos while I reinstalled Windows, would I get that space back to the essential partition?

I bought the Genuine Windows XP Pro direct from Microsoft and it only came with one registration key.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI couple of months ago I installed Windows 7 onto my Macbook Pro. All went fine. I then bought MS Office Professional 2010 but before I bought Office a tried to download a trial version from Office website. I realized it would take 6 hours to install and so cancelled it. I then tried installing Office cd that I bought from Journeyed and it won't install.
I could see MS office when I go to all programs and thought I may have messed it all up when trying to download the trial version. Anyway now I have removed Windows 7 as I want to try installing it again to see if Office 2010 will install. Removing Windows 7 was fine but Bootcamp is no longer on my Mac. It has just vanished!
Info:
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Windows 7 via Bootcamp
I'm assuming yes, but I thought I'd ask. Obviously I'd need to back up my windows side just in case and then wipe my MAC partition.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I wanted to reinstall Windows (currently using 32bit, want to upgrade to 64), I assume I would remove the partition, make a new one, and reinstall Windows from there. Now, will the same Product Key work if I did it like this? As far as I know, because the Product Key has already been used it won't let me.

View 2 Replies View RelatedYes it would be a wise move to just reinstall mac osx first however i do not plan on using it at all, this mac was given to me and i prefer to use windows, ive used windows perfectly in the past before.
Currently i only have access to a windows computer, an 8gb usb (for the win 7 installation), 4gb usb (using rEFIt) and the mac itself.
Due to certain problems with Logic Pro 8 I've got to do a clean re-install of Snow Leopard. But there is a problem: bootcamp partition. It was created with Snow Leopard to install Windows 7. Can I possibly do a clean install of Snow Leopard without losing Windows OS? Formatting only the Mac partition will do the trick? I ask you people because I've found various information on the web, although most threads concerned migration mac system as well
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been having big problems trying to solve my problem. I've checked all the posts related, tried all the solutions and still I didn't get anything, so I'm sharing my problem and hope for someone to have the solution.
I installed Windows XP with BootCamp and it was working fine.
But then the HD space of the windows partition was too small and I needed more space. So what I did was erase the partition with the Disc Utility.
But before that I wanted to test the Parallels to see if the windows 7 would work fine with it. It installed easily but I didn't like the performance of it, so I just erased it with the AppCleaner. Then I erased the BootCamp partition with Disc Utility.
But when I tried to use the Boot Camp Assistant again, it only gave me the message: "The Disk Cannot Be Partitioned Because Some Files Cannot Be Moved"I've checked the forums and it was said that probably if I use iDefrag, it would solve my problem.Once I did it, I still got the same message. Then I decided to repair the dic, so I did the verification and clicked on Repair Disc Permitions and I've got this message:
-The file SUID "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAgent" was modified and cannot be repaired.
Then I decided to reboot the whole system inserting the installation disc and pressing the C button, but all I get is a white screen and no response. And sometimes the Macbook not even start properly (also having only the white screen and no response), so I need to press the Option button till the Mac HD icon appears and I can access the computer.
And now I really without any option and I wanted to install the windows.
I want to make a clean reinstall of snow leopard without removing my bootcamp partition. Is it possible to do that and to continue using windows after the reinstall?

I'm using a macbook pro (late 2013 with mavericks-10.9.4 ). I installed windows using bootcamp but didn't estimate the storage I required correctly. So now I don't have enough storage in the bootcamp hard drive.Â
How can I increase the Partition size between windows and mac without having to delete or re-install windows? Â

Is it better for me to buy the upgrade for windows 7, from vista to windows 7 or to buy the full copy? If i buy the fully version, should i get rid of my pardon, and re-do it with bootcamp, or should i just do it over my current pardon? (Vista) I just want the best way, less pain, less anger. Im willing to pay more for full IF IT IS THE BEST way to do it.
