Windows On Mac :: Uninstalled A Firewall In 7, But Websites Are Still Being Blocked?

So like an idiot I decided to give Peerguardian another chance after a two year split from it. I junked it last time because Hotmail and MSN messenger, along with Windows Updates were among the things blocked which made it useless to me. I assumed with the time passed they would have addressed this somehow by creating a way for allow lists to be easily created but they didnt. Anyway now for the issue. I completely uninstalled PeerGuardian from both my Mac's Windows partition and other PC downstairs, however the sites are still being blocked. No PG related services running in the background, and everything uninstalled seemingly the way it should have.

I have a new MacBook Pro and while it "sees" the Canon printer, i am unable to get the printer to be shown as online. My System on my iMac shows Printer Sharing: Blocked by Firewall. Is there a way to allow these two Macs to print wirelessly? I'm running the current version of Yosemite on both.

I received a second hand mac pro yesterday. Windows was not installed, nor does it show up in Finder/Disk Utility/Starup disk. I have erased/reinstalled the 2 HDs that came in the computer. However, if I start up and hold down option, I get the choice to choose windows as is if it were installed. If I click on it, I am told "operating system missing". Does anyone have any pointers to get rid of this ghost choice?

I had Parallels installed, but I ended up back with Bootcamp. After I uninstalled it I noticed under iStat Pro Widget there were two parallels network connections. I went to the System Prefs - Networks and deleted them, but every single time I restart my computer they pop back up! I tried locking the settings after I deleted and applied them but I can't figure it out! I do not want to have to format my whole HDD! Here is a screen shot so you know what I'm talking about:

i can connect to the C$/D$ admin shares via smb://.... only when the windows firewall is OFF - when i enable it, i can't connect
i have allowed ports 135-139,445 in the firewall, but still no luck

I just uninstalled VMware Fusion from my MBP. However, I don't seem to see that the 40GB I dedicated to the Windows 7 I installed is freed. Please, how do I do that? I need the 40GB to make my already slow 160GB 13'' MBP faster!

I have Windows Vista Ultimate installed on my MacBook. For some reason, everything keeps freezing and the mouse pointer remain unresponsive for a few seconds. This happens again and again while I am using Windows and it's very annoying. Sometimes I have to press to power button for 5 seconds to restart the computer otherwise it remains completely blocked.

I tried playing command and conquer: tiberium wars on windows. I have never had an issue playing with my old router but have recently upgraded to the Time Capsule and I could not connect when I was playing online. I could connect initially but when I would go into a game it just would not allow me to connect to start the game. I then plugged directly into my cable modem and was able to connect right away. Do I need to go into Time capsule and adjust a setting?

What in the world happened? Mac Pro 2008, OSX Lion Latest, Safari latest. went to the ~/Library folder and reinstalled them all and the settings were intact. Not sure why this happened.

So, a while back I decided to try iDisplay, for my iPad, but I was not happy with the quality so I decided to uninstall it from both my iPad and my MacBook Pro. However, my Mac still thinks it has a second display. If I move my mouse to the left side of the screen (where I, before, had my iPad set up) the mouse will disappear. I can move windows over there and everything. If I open Spaces, it shows a second, smaller display next to my normal display option.

I've been installing software on my new MacBook and have gotten to the point where I'd like to install the KDE LaTeX Editor (Kile). I found a page which explains how to install Kile on OS X natively without using X11... but the installation looks rather involved. (Perhaps overly-so.)
Before I dive into such an installation, I'd like to make sure that there's a way to undo things in case they don't work out. In particular, I'm unfamiliar with commands like "svn checkout [URL]Given how involved the installation instructions appear, is there a way to uninstall a full or partial installation without going through all this fuss? I'm worried that I'll end up with KDE taking up tons of space without Kile even working.
On the other hand, I've been having a hard time looking for an alternative to Kile. TeXMaker seems to be the closest product, but it lacks some features that I've gotten used to (auto-complete, customizable highlighting, auto-indent, for example). TextMate is somewhat closer, but it's commercial-ware and still doesn't provide the same feature set as Kile. I'll be working with large multi-file projects, so having a good editor is important for me... but I'm concerned that the "Run Kile Natively" option is a bit too kludged together for someone like me who isn't too comfortable with OS X.
Alternately, I suppose I could install an X11 version... but I don't know where to find instructions to do this. Also, I heard that the X11 version doesn't have copy-and-paste compatibility with the rest of OS X. (Is this true with the latest build??)

How do I know if I fully uninstalled a program in my Mac? Do I search the file/program name in Finder and if it is not there, its all gone?Â
I also use AppZapper to uninstall programs that don't have a default "Uninstall"...

The other day I completely removed QuickTime from my computer by mistake. I went to the apple website to try and download it but there is no link for a .dmg. Instead there is a message that says "Use Software Update to keep QuickTime up to date on your Mac". How I can get QuickTime back?

When I bring up iMovie in the app store It says "accept" on the icon that usually says "buy" or "install". When I click "accept" it says it has already been accepted and is available for download under purchases. When I go to purchases iMovie is not listed and I can't figure out any other way to download iMovie.

Came across AppCleaner(As mentioned in one of the articles in this forum).But this AppCleaner needs the folder to be there but i had already moved it to Trash and emptied the Trash too.
Now, how can i remove the traces left behind.(I think the Traces may be left behind after moving the folder to Trash Can is because...the second time when i tried to install the same software , in the "custom install" screen it said of Upgrade rather than Install)
I want to be all clean before i start installing the same software for the second time.

Is there an app that cleans up old uninstalled apps preferences from the system and User Library's? I already use OnyX, MainMenu, XSlimmer and other various apps to keep my MAC running at best performance. But when I browse my Library's I see preferences for apps I don't have anymore. Instead of manually going through them all is there an automated app that looks in my Applications folder and then my Library and figures out what should stay and what should go. Also looking in /Library/Receipts/ there are also pkg files left by uninstalled apps. I know CCleaner does something similar with the Windows Registry. What MAC App will clean these left behind files?

I have sophos on my mac and I've tried deleting the application by throwing it away into my bin. I searched as much as finder/spotlight can find about sophos and threw those away. But after restarting my mac, the sophos icon at the top is still there. How can I remove it completely?

So I installed Adium and as part of the package it installed Growl. I've decided that I prefer not to use Adium so I dragged the application from my Applications folder to the Trash. My question is how do I remove Growl from my system? The icon is still showing up in System Preferences. This is one caveat I have over Windows. Apple should make an uninstaller to completely remove all necessary components.

my .mac mails stopped being received in mail on my laptop - but they were coming to my phone and available on line. I went to a genius bar, the uninstalled the account, reinstalled, rebooted and it worked......but minus the old mails. I have a backup of the mails. pls tell me how i can put the saved mails back into mail.

I was trying to open spottify and the rainbow wheel began to turn, then it stpped and every stood still, Finder open aswell and I can't turn it off. I previously installed a demo of iWork and life but after the trial period uninstalled it. Well I've now bought the licensed copies of each. Upon install and trying to launch iWork or iLife I'm getting prompted for my serial number, and of course the discs do not require a number.Do i have to call Apple or is this a common, easy fix?

Using Tiger (10.4.11) & Apple Mail. My home server suggested Port 587, but no help there from that. Diagnostics suggested changing to different server address, also no help. This problem happens whenever I travel away from home & do not use my home server.
