Windows On Mac :: Screen Brightness Goes To 100 Percent

Aug 10, 2008

I usually have my screen brightness set to a few ticks above the lowest, but when my screen shuts off (after 3 mins or whatever I have it set to in the control panel) and gets turned on again, the brightness is set to max. If I then drop the brightness by one tick, it drops to where it was set before. It doesn't do this when I close the lid but it does go to full brightness when I restart the computer and as I enter the windows desktop it goes back to what it was set at.

Windows On Mac :: Screen Brightness Control Not Linear In Boot Camp

Jun 13, 2009

I bought this c2d macbook pro 15'' in early 2007. Today I installed windows 7 on it (bootcamp 2.1). Everything worked perfect except the screen brightness control. The strongest level is very bright (same as the one in Mac), but the second level is very dim. I remember having this problem back in 2007 when I installed winxp on my mac. Looks like the problem still exists. Anyone here knows how to fix it?

MacBook Air :: Unable To Adjust Screen Brightness / Brightness Goes Up And Up

Nov 15, 2010

The brightness goes up when you plug in your MBA, but then over time it just goes up and up. I honestly like my brightness pretty low (rarely more than half, typically at 3-5 notches), but it just keeps on going up and up. I almost never set it above half, but multiple times a day, I notice that it looks pretty high and it's at like 3/4 so I put it it down to about 1/3, but after a while, it's just up again.

Anyone else notice this? What is it, why does it do this? How can I fix it? I don't mind not having auto-brightness (even though I loved it), as long as my screen doesn't keep going up.

Windows On Mac :: Brightness Jumps To Full When Doing A Full Screen Apps

Jan 20, 2010

When I have my brightness at a certain setting and then start playing a game, the brightness jumps to full. When I then press the button for less brightness, it jumps immediately to the setting it was originally.

This also happens whenever I do alt+tab to return to the desktop. So it appears it happens when I do something that requires to switch to full screen mode cause it also happens with other programs.

At normal use, surfing, office,... this problem does not occur. And also it doesn't happen under OS X

MacBook Pro :: Screen Flickering / The Screen Brightness Dims And Then Brightens Very Quickly?

Jun 15, 2009

Has anyone noticed a very slight flicker on their new MBPs? I have a new 13" and, every so often, the screen brightness dims and then brightens very quickly (happens in less than a second). The option for auto-adjusting the screen brightness is off so it's not that particular function. It's most noticeable on all-white backgrounds both on AC and battery power. Hard drive access doesn't seem to coincide with the dimming.

OS X :: Dimness In Screen Brightness / Starting About Halfway Down The Screen

Dec 22, 2009

I have a 2007 aluminium imac running Snow Leopard. It needed to have a disk drive replacement recently under applecare. Since I got it back I have noticed a marked dimness in screen brightness starting about halfway down the screen, most noticeable against a window with a white background. It is pristine white at the top of the window but from about halfway begins to get dimmer. Its a bit like being in sunlight and the coming into shadow, or finding mist creeping into the picture.

I have tried recalibrating it but it makes no difference. It might have been there before the repair but if it was I didn't notice it or else I grew used to it but now I find it quite distracting and it does make text a little harder to read as I'm getting on in years and my sight needs all the light it can get. Is it normal or is it a sign of problems beginning to manifest themselves with the display? I wouldn't like to ignore it & find myself out of applecare cover when it does.

Hardware :: How To Control Brightness In Windows On LED ACD

May 19, 2009

so I'm planning on buying and LED Cinema Display to go with my Mac Pro. I have a few issues before I pull the trigger...

Currently, I'm using a 23 inch Acrylic Cinema Display and have found that there is no way to adjust overall monitor brightness. Even using the ATi control panel (my Mac Pro has an Apple branded ATi 4870), there are no true brightness controls either on the software side in Windows (I haven't found a way to change brightness in Windows like I do in System Preferences in OSX) or on the hardware side (no buttons on the monitor itself).

Basically, as soon as I use bootcamp to reset into Windows, I notice that the screen immediately goes to the lowest brightness (even though I was running the max in OSX before switching) settings as soon as I go into the desktop. Playing games like this is irritating.

I know the LED Cinema Display also has no brightness buttons on it, so will I still be SOL?

MacBook :: Display Brightness - Screen Go Dim After Sometimes

Oct 10, 2009

Recently, after about 5 minutes of use (not sitting idle), my MacBook's screen will go very dim. I hit the buttons on the keyboard to take the brightness all the way up, but it doesn't get much brighter and there's only one thing that I can do to make the screen go brighter: I go into System Preferences and click Display. The second I click that, the brightness returns without me doing anything in the Display section, so after Display comes up, I just close it out and the screen brightness is fine for a while. It seems to do this after the lid has been closed for a while and then starts dimming again after opening the lid and using it for about 5 minutes. Is there a way to fix the auto-dim mode without disabling it? MacBook (white) is running Leopard 10.5.8 with all the latest updates.

Intel Mac :: Its Screen Brightness Changing?

Apr 19, 2012

Purchased my iMac 27" back in October 2011. It was fine up until around February this year until my screen brightness started flickering automatically. I have the ambient/auto brightness setting switched off and after many discussions with apple care on the phone I have been advised to bring my iMac back in to the store.

1) is this a common problem a lot of people have experienced with iMacs?

2) Do you think it will be repaired or replaced?

3) Does this happen with the macbook airs as I was planning to purchase one for university in September, however if this problem occurs with their laptop range then I will opt for windows.

I was writing a paper and had one hand on my touchpad and touched my (off, but plugged in) light with my other hand. My screen dimmed just a little bit, approx the brightness between the two highest lighting levels. Even when not touching my touchpad, just touching my light, my screen did the same thing. Depending on WHERE on the lamp I touch, it affects the brightness... but only on the bell surrounding the light bulb, no other components of the light.

OS X :: Screen Looses Brightness On Desktop Computer

Jun 20, 2009

I have a Mac OS X, Version 10.5.7, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, iMac desktop computer. I have looked high and low for a way to prevent my screen from dimming after about 2 minutes and have found nothing to help. The screen doesn't go completely dark, it just loses brightness. Here's what happens: I load a guitar chords page and begin to practice the song on the computer screen. After about two minutes the screen goes dim, which is very annoying and is difficult for me to see.

Every proposed solution I've come across refers me to the Energy Saver in the System Preferences. The problem is that the Energy Saver in the System Preferences for my desktop computer does not have the same selections as an Energy Saver in the System Preferences for a laptop. As is seen in the picture below, I don't have selections for dimming preferences that a laptop has. I don't want to install some third party program (like Caffeine) if I can avoid it. How I can disable this dimming feature on my computer?
