So I installed Vista 64 bit on my Macbook Pro (Santa Rosa), I installed most of the drivers I can find, but I cant get the screen brightness buttons to work (F1 and F2)
View 2 RepliesI have dual ACD's. How do I make it so that both screens have the same brightness? If I adjust the brightness in the display settings it adjusts the main screen, but then not the other one. How do I make them the same?
The brightness goes up when you plug in your MBA, but then over time it just goes up and up. I honestly like my brightness pretty low (rarely more than half, typically at 3-5 notches), but it just keeps on going up and up. I almost never set it above half, but multiple times a day, I notice that it looks pretty high and it's at like 3/4 so I put it it down to about 1/3, but after a while, it's just up again.
Anyone else notice this? What is it, why does it do this? How can I fix it? I don't mind not having auto-brightness (even though I loved it), as long as my screen doesn't keep going up.
Does the new MBA still have the ambient light sensor that adjust the screen brightness to environment?(like the older MBA and the current MBP)

I cannot control my screen brightness using the F5 and F8 keys. The only way I can adjust it is through System Preferences. I tried just F5 fn F5, Control F5, Option F5 and Command F5 and non work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI noticed yesterday that my 23" ACD, which I use as a secondary monitor, power light was going on and off even though the monitor appeared to be working fine.
When I put the computer to sleep the monitor stayed on (I could see the backlight lighting up the screen even though it was black).
Now the power light stays off, the monitor works, but I can't adjust the brightness and the power button doesn't work. When I go the System Preferences and Displays there is no brightness slider available for the 23".
I have tried unplugging it, rebooting the computer etc, and even booting up in my backup of Leopard (I usually use Snow Leopard) but it doesn't change anything. Anyone else had this issue? I did have a power cut the other day, but I don't know how that could have affected it.
I have a iMac with Boot Camp so im often using windows when im using programs/games that are only made for windows...However, the buttons F1, F2, F10, F11 and F12 are not working (I dont know about the other buttons F3-F9). I cant adjust the brightness and sound anymore by pressing F1 and F2 etc. What could be wrong?

I have recently put windows 7 professional on my aluminum macbook, installed all the drivers, and so forth. I hook up my macbook up to an external monitor, and use a logitech dinovo keyboard for a mac. However, when I am in windows 7, the function keys do not adjust volume, brightness, and any other of the functions.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI usually have my screen brightness set to a few ticks above the lowest, but when my screen shuts off (after 3 mins or whatever I have it set to in the control panel) and gets turned on again, the brightness is set to max. If I then drop the brightness by one tick, it drops to where it was set before. It doesn't do this when I close the lid but it does go to full brightness when I restart the computer and as I enter the windows desktop it goes back to what it was set at.

I installed it successfuly, along with the Windows Bootcamp drivers, but my Display is VERY dim, the brightness is all the way up to the Mac. I rebooted the Macbook Pro and ran OSX and the brightness is fine, but on windows is very very dim and idk how to fix it.

I don't know if anyone posted this issue before. I can not control screen Brightness on my MBP 13'. I tried my F1 and F2 key and the Nvidia Control Panel, either of them is working. I installed all the drivers from the CD and it can actually show the icon in the center(bottom) of the screen when I hit the F1 or F2 Key. However, the brightness adjust does not work,the screen stay the same.
View 11 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden, every time I reboot, my screen's brightness is all the way up. So, I go to 'Preferences' and bring it down to only happen again the next time I reboot. Not a terrible problem, I hope, but not sure why the settings of this doesn't remain as I left it last. View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought this c2d macbook pro 15'' in early 2007. Today I installed windows 7 on it (bootcamp 2.1). Everything worked perfect except the screen brightness control. The strongest level is very bright (same as the one in Mac), but the second level is very dim. I remember having this problem back in 2007 when I installed winxp on my mac. Looks like the problem still exists. Anyone here knows how to fix it?

I have a new 13" and, every so often, the screen brightness dims and then brightens very quickly (happens in less than a second).The option for auto-adjusting the screen brightness is off so it's not that particular function.It's most noticeable on all-white backgrounds both on AC and battery power. Hard drive access doesn't seem to coincide with the dimming.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 2007 aluminium imac running Snow Leopard. It needed to have a disk drive replacement recently under applecare. Since I got it back I have noticed a marked dimness in screen brightness starting about halfway down the screen, most noticeable against a window with a white background. It is pristine white at the top of the window but from about halfway begins to get dimmer. Its a bit like being in sunlight and the coming into shadow, or finding mist creeping into the picture.
I have tried recalibrating it but it makes no difference. It might have been there before the repair but if it was I didn't notice it or else I grew used to it but now I find it quite distracting and it does make text a little harder to read as I'm getting on in years and my sight needs all the light it can get. Is it normal or is it a sign of problems beginning to manifest themselves with the display? I wouldn't like to ignore it & find myself out of applecare cover when it does.
So I have noticed a few times already, that the screen on my white macbook flickers to change the brightness level. It can do this while the computer is plugged in and charging, or if it's off the charger. It is definitely noticeable as it causes me to just watch what the screen is doing.

So I have an AVI file that won't even load in quicktime, but it plays fine in VLC and MPlayer. As far as I can tell neither of these programs let you adjust the color, contrast or brightness of the file. Does anyone know of a program that will allow me to do this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I have my brightness at a certain setting and then start playing a game, the brightness jumps to full. When I then press the button for less brightness, it jumps immediately to the setting it was originally.
This also happens whenever I do alt+tab to return to the desktop. So it appears it happens when I do something that requires to switch to full screen mode cause it also happens with other programs.
At normal use, surfing, office,... this problem does not occur. And also it doesn't happen under OS X
I'm a noob to the MBP. Just got it last month and still learning how to use it. Anyways, my volume and brightness button worked a few hours ago, now it doesn't work. When I tried lowering the volume it doesn't work. Then I tried using the play button to start my itunes and that doesn't work either. I don't know what I did wrong. How can I get it back?

I rebooted and they started working again. Then I went and started streaming a movie on Netflix and now they aren't working. Any ideas?
