Applications :: Mail Not Receiving All Messages And Not Sending Any Messages?
Jul 18, 2010I am running mac os X version 10.5.8 and I find that mail will download not all my mail and will not send from any of my mailboxes.
I have set up mail with my googlemail account my mobileme account and my yahoo accounts. all are set up as stp and I have set them up according to all the online help lines. I have had mail set up for many months now, and have been trying to fix this problem for a long time now off and on.
One thing that I have tried is changing the outgoing port number from the default to 587, but still no joy.

The mailbox exists, but I want it POP-ed by another method.I figured out how to suppress fetching email automatically (Preferences > Accounts > Advanced), but that still fetches whenever I click the "Get Mail" button.Can I configure a mailbox that's simply unable to check mail, but can send it?

1. making sure that the outgoing mail server are using default ports(25,465,587)
2. clicking mailbox -> synchronize all accounts
3. clicking mailbox -> take all accounts offline, then mailbox -> take all accounts online

If i quit out of it it will say "Are you sure you want to quit? Some chats have messages you haven’t read." When the message has be received by the person receiving the message and has replied back.

Mar 16, 2012I have a mobileme account with a further 3 names added using mail only. Because of legacy I cannot move to OS Lion at the moment. Can we still use our mac.com/me.com email addresses after June without signing up to icloud. If one or more of the email only account holders update to Lion and icloud, can they transfer their emai accounts without the main account holder doing so. If we all have other apple devices ie iphone and ipads, and sign up to icloud, can we then use our mobile me mail addresses also on our OS Leopard macs.

Dec 11, 2014I can no longer receive or send imessage photos within Yosemite Messages App. Standard txt messages work fine but Photo's do not. I recieve the following error when sending our receiving photos in the File Transfer window :
NSURLSession error: The operation couldn't be completed (NSURLErrorDomain error - 1202.) ((null))
I've tried logging in and out of my iMessage account. Has not fixed anything.

Jun 2, 2014I went to send a message from my apple mail (gmail account) and it won't send. Says smtp.gmail.com is offline. I didn't change any settings but when I went in to check them, they were all gone. I added back smtp.gmail.com under description and my complete email address under server name. I then went to advanced settings and made sure the Use default ports (25, 465, 587) was checked and also Use Secure Sockets Layer was checked. I chose Password for authentication and added my complete email address for user name with my password. It still says I'm offline and won't sent a message.

Sep 11, 2014My iPhone 5c is receiving the same messages that I've already read on my Macbook Pro and I would like to stop connecting my phone number to the computer. Is there a way to fix this? I am using IOS 1.7.2 if this problem has anything to do with my phone and that has any relevance.
Edit: I would not like to turn iMessage off on my phone, as I use it because a lot of the area I live in does not have service while we have wifi.

Jun 30, 2012The Apple Mail on my son's iMac 5, running OS X 10.6.8, shows the number of unread messages (9), but if I click on InBox, the messages themselves don't show up in the main window. This suddenly happened, and none of his old, read messages show up either. But he can access them just fine from his iPod, or through his Network Solutions web mail interface. Also, in Mail we can search part of his email address, and all the messages show up, read and unread! He has no rules set up. The connection doctor shows the connection is fine.

Jul 26, 2010I've been using my MacBook Pro for about five months with no problems. It's equiped with VMWare Fusion, and I do most of my work there in windows. Saturday, morning, all of a sudden, I started getting the "application quit unexpectedly message" with nearly every application I tried to open in both platforms (Safari and the entry to VMWare). I haven't added any software/hardware lately, and the computer worked well Friday evening.
Any clues as to how I might resolve the situation from here would be greatly appreciated.

Jan 11, 2011I was using a program which opened my console and then I noticed in my console had messages referring to a couple of programs I removed a long time ago by dragging them to the Trash. It seems to be reporting thousands of messages every minute for one of the programs with the message "User or app not found." recurring.

May 13, 2010Is there a way to set up e-mail accounts in my Mac mail that allow me to "send only" from them? For example, I have a couple e-mail accounts that I only use for commercial / e-commerce communication (airline tickets, eBay transactions, etc), but am otherwise not interested in setting up as an inbox because they simply flood with spam. Is there a way to set up Mail so that I can choose to send a message as me@xxxxx.com (rather than me@mac.com); WITHOUT adding an inbox for this account?

Oct 7, 2010I belong to a camera club and they asked for submissions in sRGB jpegs and not imbedded. I may have been confused when I saw my image show up in the message as well as the attachment above. Any way the fellow I was sending them to said he couldn't open them. I have sent hundreds of jpegs and never had a problem. Has anyone had this experience? I went back to the tiff and turned off the imbed in sRGB and saved in Microsoft preference and then converted to jpeg. I can't believe in this day and age jpegs are still a problem being read.
