I have a mobileme account with a further 3 names added using mail only. Because of legacy I cannot move to OS Lion at the moment. Can we still use our mac.com/me.com email addresses after June without signing up to icloud. If one or more of the email only account holders update to Lion and icloud, can they transfer their emai accounts without the main account holder doing so. If we all have other apple devices ie iphone and ipads, and sign up to icloud, can we then use our mobile me mail addresses also on our OS Leopard macs.

My Mac OS X 10.6.8 Safari must have some sort of virus. It is sending messages to everyone in my address book without my knowledge. What is happening? How can I stop it?

I am running mac os X version 10.5.8 and I find that mail will download not all my mail and will not send from any of my mailboxes.
I have set up mail with my googlemail account my mobileme account and my yahoo accounts. all are set up as stp and I have set them up according to all the online help lines. I have had mail set up for many months now, and have been trying to fix this problem for a long time now off and on.
One thing that I have tried is changing the outgoing port number from the default to 587, but still no joy.
Mail is not receiving messages on my iMac. I can send messages but not receive. My MacBook Pro receives OK. What can be the matter?

Has anyone a problem with receiving e-mails? Sending e-mail works but receiving not.
View 12 Replies View RelatedOutgoing e-mails not going. Problem developed yesterday but has occurred now and then since I upgraded from Snow Leopard to 10.9.3. In the past the problem has mysteriously solved itself after a few days. I would like to know what causes it and how to solve it right away. Â
Incoming emails arrive all right.Â
My provider, Suddenlink recommended changing my outgoing server but that made no difference, so I have gone back to the settings that do work most of the time. Â
When I went to Suddenlink's web address  (www.suddenlink.net) and opened my e-mail account there, I could send and receive, but I would like to work with Mail rather with Suddenlink's POP.Â

I tried to send an email to almost 300 recipients through Mail. For whatever reason (not important to me for these purposes) the message cannot send on the server it attempted to use. The message itself remains on my desktop, with a dropdown error message over it. Here's the problem: due to the number of recipients, the dropdown menu goes beyond the lower end of the monitor.
When I view the message in Mission Control I can see that there are options at the bottom of the error message like Edit Message, Try Later, and Try Selected Server, but I cannot click on any of those to try any of them. Also, Tab seems to have no effect on what button is highlighted, and Try Selected Server remains the active choice. If I press return it will try the same server that did not work and then the message remains. I have also tried going into the Outbox and deleting the message but that doesn't work either.

Recently, my Apple Mail has been sending from two to six copies of email, timed to the same minute. I've taken to using Thunderbied (which I don't prefer) to avoid it. My theory is that if I can reload Lion it might cure it, but since Lion only comes as a download, I don't know how.

How do you delete email address' that come up automatically when sending mail? Old ones that have been changed come up before the new one?? I need to get them deleted.

now i need to configure 3 accounts with these details and also be able to send out email with same account. It was working before when i had the same settings on my earlier pop server as the outgoing server but now this is not allowing me 2 add the other 2 accounts for outgoing. Says same server name so stays offline.

I have several accounts operating through Apple Mail (three, to be specific). This morning, my new messages stopped downloading. There isn't any problem connecting to the internet, and Mail seems to think that it is appropriately communicating with the server, but my various inboxes have a dozen new messages that haven't downloaded.

My Mac mail program quit receiving messages. I can send, but can receive. Before it quit a dialog box came up with something about password or something. This happened once before, but I can't remember what the fix was. My Earthlink web mail works just fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am very tired of "losing" messages because MacMail insists on linking messages, sent and/ or received, together, with no apparent logic sometimes. I just want all my sent messages separate and all received message likewise. Then I can always find what I want.

I'm using Mail 3.6 on OS 10.5.8. I have three email accounts I manage through Mail. My main email account has stopped receiving emails. I can still send but not receive. My other two email accounts both send and receive just fine.Â
Mail had prompted me to import messages after a restart right before this account stopped receiving mails. All of the emails (from all three accounts) imported successfully and I'm sure what prompted Mail having to reimport emails in the first place. This main email account had grown quite large, around 46,000 messages and I've since got that number down to 28,000.Â

For some reason, my mail icon is no longer showing my badge icon displaying the number of unread emails I have. Within mail, next to my mailbox, it no longer shows the number of unread emails either even though there are clearly email messages with the blue dot indicating they're unread.

I want to set up an account in Apple Mail that only is used for sending out messages (SMTP). The mailbox exists, but I want it POP-ed by another method.I figured out how to suppress fetching email automatically (Preferences > Accounts > Advanced), but that still fetches whenever I click the "Get Mail" button. Can I configure a mailbox that's simply unable to check mail, but can send it?

1. making sure that the outgoing mail server are using default ports(25,465,587)
2. clicking mailbox -> synchronize all accounts
3. clicking mailbox -> take all accounts offline, then mailbox -> take all accounts online

All of a sudden yesterday I stopped receiving any emails. I could hear the message alert that one had come in but there was nothing in the mailbox.
I spent much time with the ISP and they say its an Apple problem. All settings appear to be correct and I can't figure out where those emails have gone. I have an iMac G4, OS 10.5.8
I went to send a message from my apple mail (gmail account) and it won't send. Says smtp.gmail.com is offline. I didn't change any settings but when I went in to check them, they were all gone. I added back smtp.gmail.com under description and my complete email address under server name. I then went to advanced settings and made sure the Use default ports (25, 465, 587) was checked and also Use Secure Sockets Layer was checked. I chose Password for authentication and added my complete email address for user name with my password. It still says I'm offline and won't sent a message.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy mail program has stopped receiving mail from the server, Cincinnati Bell, zoomtown. I have had numerous weird sent items that come back as undeliverable to people not in my contacts.
