Hardware :: 24" LED Display As Primary Display In Windows XP?
Feb 22, 2009I've got a 2.4 GHz unibody MacBook running boot camp, and I'd like to have my new 24" LED Cinema Display set as the primary display so that, when I play games, the system recognizes that the resolution can, indeed, go higher than 1280x800.
However, when I right click and hit Properties to see desktop settings and stuff, right clicking on the Cinema Display shows that "Primary" is grayed out; it seems that I can not set it as the primary display.
Does anybody have a solution to this? I'd rather not use the nVIDIA settings to turn off the MB display and only use the LED display, as I'd like to be able to have AIM and a web browser open on the MB screen while I game on the LED display. I suppose if this is not possible under Dual View atm, I'll make do, but I figured I'd check first.

Dec 3, 2010I've tried re-installing and updating every possible graphics related driver for Windows 7 i cannot for love or toffee get the bloody thing to even recognize my display. I am using a 26" tv as an external display, it works on OS X (very easily), windows XP (also very easily) and even Vista (also easily) and connecting through a DVI/HDMI connector. Why not windows 7? I've scoured the web for answers but can't find anything. Is anyone at least in the same boat as me? I really need this solved soon

There is something like 256 distinct shades in each horizontal bar. NOTHING MORE.
If I simply drag my web browser over to my second monitor, a 28" 1920x1200 monitor hooked to the mini displayport, it displays PERFECT gradients.
Windows On Mac :: IMac I5 27" Windows 7 Bootcamp Display Port Out?
Jan 18, 2010I have installed Windows 7 on a Bootcamp partition and use VM Fusion as well, I am trying to get my Windows 7 desktop onto my Plasma TV when I have only Windows 7 booted.
I have a mini displayport to DVI adapter (not worried about sound right now) but when boot into Windows I cannot find the TV as a output setting.
It used to be with my old PC I would see the TV as a possible output and I could chose either Dualscreens or simply set the Plasma as the main display.
Could someone please help me achieve this with my iMac? Am I missing a driver or just missing a setting?

Unfortunatly for some reason after you get through all the meat of the install and it restarts to finish off and ask for personal information but here's the problem. The display is showing nothing! You can hear the fans are on and booting into mac is fine but I can't get any farther with the Windows 7 installation because i can't see anything! I know the disc works because I installed from it the night before.

Jun 25, 2014Under 10.6.8, it has been my habit (and pleasure) to open very wide terminal windows across as many as three displays in order to see the results of somewhat wide database queries without text wrapping, which affects readability and cuts the number of lines visible on the display window at once.
Under 10.9.3, when I adjust a window over towards another display so that the window would be on both displays, the window is "ghosted" until I let go of the drag bar, and if the move has not fully adjusted the window to land entirely on the display it is moving into, that half of the window promptly disappears.
Am I missing something about window positioning under Mavericks? Or, is there any way to regain the previous, multi-display-friendly window handling in Mavericks?
Windows On Mac :: I5 Display Driver Stopped Responding?
Dec 4, 2009I installed bootbcamp today and windows 7 and after a period of time the following message would pop up after the screen froze and various artifacts would appear or the screen would be divided in half horizontally with artifacts in the middle.
"Display driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered"
I don't think this is a bootcamp driver issue. This is an issue between ATI and Microsoft and has been going on at least since 2007. Not much to say about it at this point, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue with the new iMac's and windows?

Mar 9, 2010Has any one had any problems using an external display (Apple 24 inch LED is what I am using) with Bootcamp with an Apple laptop (recent MBP) in the closed lid position. I start Bootcamp & Windows, close the lid, but the display/computer won't restart once I plug in the peripherals.

But I've noticed that the display has a strange moire-like effect (picture looks "instable", like the surface of disturbed water), that is not present under MacOS 10.5. Dec 12, 2009 I have a iMac 27" i7 8GB Ram. I installed Windows 7 64 bit. Everything seems to work just fine, except Blu Ray playback.
I have a LG BDRW drive in a 5.25" external caddy. When I try to play a Blu Ray using the bundled CyberLink PowerDVD HD software it says I dont have a HDCP display so it asks me to run a 'BD advisor' tool for more info.
That tells me that both the ATI 4850 card AND the display are not HDCP compliant. I know they must be so whats going on!?

I used Winclone to migrate bootcamp partition from my old MBP to the i7.My problem is that when I linked my external monitor (20 inch ViewSonic) to uMBP using the Minidisplay-to-DIV adaptor from Apple, there is no display on my external monitor. I can set the external monitor as extension of main monitor under "Setting", but after the windows Ding/Done sound, there is nothing on my external monitor. Does anyone have experiences about fixing this problem?

He asked me how he could make it so that he could organize all of his safari windows neatly on the display (automatically -- without manually dragging each one to it's corner on the respective display) so that he could have a bunch of safari windows open at the same time without overlapping each other. He came from Windows 7 and is used to the feature where you can drag a window to one side of the screen and have the window sized to the left half of the screen accordingly. He doesn't want exactly this, because that would waste a lot of the available real estate he has, but he needs something so that he doesn't have to drag 10 windows all across the landscape every time he opens safari.

Windows has a DPI setting that makes everything bigger on a high resolution display. I never used it, and I don't know how well it works. Is that the way to go? Would you change the order to a none retina display, if you were me?

Mac Pro :: Cursor And Windows Disappear In Upper Right Corner Of Display
Sep 3, 2014I'm using a Mac Pro desktop running OX 10.5.8 I noticed fairly recently that I have a blank area off of the upper right of the screen where safari windows will ocassionally disappear to. If I move my cursor over to this area it will disappear of the screen. However on all of the other sides/corners of the display, the cursor will remain on the screen.What is the cause of the blank area off the screen and how do I get rid of it?

Feb 23, 2008I got my MBA about 2 weeks ago, and in 3 different occasions some windows and parts of the desktop would show display artifacts. I am attaching snapshots. I didn't recognize any specific pattern that could cause this, and the CPU was not overheating when the fact happened. Every time it was sufficient to reboot the system, and the problem disappeared. I am worried it might be a hardware issue, maybe related to the integrated graphics. Should I have the MBA replaced?

Dec 24, 2009I just bought a tv to use as a external monitor for my mac however when i boot into windows 7 the resolution (1080p) is fine but its not filling the screen completely, there is 1 inch of black on the top and bottom and about 1.5 inches of black on the left and right sides. it does not do this when i am booted into osx.
i think this could be because of how hdtv's are made and the resolution isn't exact (usually a little bit greater) so windows isn't "stretching" the image to fill the screen. i think osx does it automatically but windows doesn't. if this is the problem how do i get windows to stretch the image? i tried switching the screen mode on my tv's remote but that didn't work.

Feb 8, 2012My wife's macbook monitor is destroyed due to happy 2 year old. It won't be worthwhile to replace the monitor and it is not fixable without some expensive work being done on it, therefore I would like to use our TV as an external monitor and retire the macbook to being a mediia computer. I have connected it to the TV, and I see an empty desktop, as far as I can determine it looks like it is treating the TV as a secondary display - that the desktop is extended onto - so I cannot actually interact with the normal desktop. When I try to run things using keyboard shortcuts I hear some sounds of things starting, but I don't see anything on the TV. So what I need to do is to have some way to tell it to treat the secondary display as the primary display.

In Windows-land, I use an application called Ultramon, and what this gives me is a keyboard shortcut that will move the foreground application window over to my other screen.

Mar 6, 2009I'm getting a high resolution, and it looks alright, but it's not fully using the widescreen. That's "aspect" right? Well anyway, I also have a 19" display and it works perfectly. My Xbox, cable box and movies all use the full widescreen on the Acer, but the Macbook with the super amazing Mini DisplayPort doesn't even use the full resolution. What's with that? I thought the reason they had this new port and a $30 adapter was for higher resolutions!
