I know I can use AOL IM, but I was wondering if when I bootcamp over to my Windows 7 partition if there was a good chat program out there that has the balloon pop-ups similar to iChat.
View 4 RepliesI've done everything I can think about to fix Handbrake, and not having any luck. Is there another program that will work the same way that Handbrake does that works well on macs? Handbrake keeps shutting off about 30% of the way in. No matter what movie it is, it shuts off.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am going to purchase a photo organizing/editing program soon (probably iPhoto), but I was wondering if there are any online, free or inexpensive programs that are comparable. The program that I buy must fit this criteria:
-Sufficient storage for many digital photos (This would eliminate Picasa's free service)
-Compatible with OS Tiger 10.4x
-Easy organization such as thumbnail viewing (or comparable to iPhoto's "Events")
Currently, I am trying to find a used copy of iLife '08, but many seem overpriced considering that iLife '09 is out. Ideally, I would like to spend no more than $35.
I'm looking for a program that sorts out info for TV shows and movies a la Tune Up, where you drag the files to the program and it sorts it out for you.

I'm looking for a program that is similar to OSX's Time Machine to backup my parent's PC. It is an HP and runs Windows XP and I have a Western Digital 750 GB USB external drive. im using ichat and my friend is using aim on a pc and i want to use the video chat feature and when i send a request it says they decline it and vice versa. Anyone know how to fix this without using another program like msn or skype?

I heard Adium is a good IM app, but does not support the webcam. Not sure about windows live messenger either.

In the event that there are some files I forgot to delete, I just wanted to make sure I got rid of all the files and not have old uninstalled program data hogging up space on my hard drive. I'm still in a Windows state of mind since I just recently purchased my MBP so I'm not sure if the MBP will automatically remove all the files once a program is deleted or if some residual program files still remain even after I delete a program.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 15-inch MacBook Pro, the new unibody ones, and I installed Windows XP, using BootCamp.
I made it a 29 or so GB partition, so it used the FAT32 formatting.
The program I tried to install is the eyeQ speed reading program, and the laptop exceeds every single one of the recommended requirements.
The problem comes when I am attempting to install the program, I keep getting an error message in which it says "This program cannot run on a computer with less than 64 megabytes of ram."
Last time I checked my laptop has 4 GB of ram, and it says the same thing when I checked it while running Windows XP.
My only guess, which I made while typing this, was that I should have formatted the Windows partition using NTSF.
I've been having some connection issues with Skype, and would like to know if its possible to use iChat to do audio&video chats with Windows users? I know iChat supports AIM, so I assume these users would need to install AIM to make this happen.
If such a setup works, is it possible to conference with multiple users?
My iChat refuses to open. Every time I click on it to open it it will not open at all and a window will come up saying "The application iChat quit unexpectedly". How can i get my iChat to open and is someone or something hacking into my computer?

My notebook died and I'm in search for a new one and I'm considering the macbook.
The only question I have is, will it run every Windows program without any issues? I'm going to be using this for work. Besides your typical Office suite, I run AutoCAD, Adobe CS, Audio and Video editing and burning. And all the licenses are for Windows.
I just want to make sure I won't have any software issues before taking the leap.
I guess what I'm asking is, is Windows under an Apple hardware work exactly as Windows would?
I was away from my computer for a day and when I returned I had an IM from a Screen Name that has been harassing me for a couple of months. They keep trying to video chat me or IM me, but I never answer. When I returned to my computer this morning, there was an IM that I opened and was finally going to say something to the person, but when I opened it, there was a couple of messages saying that they have downloaded all of my information and passwords and files. I am going to attach a photo so you can see. It looks a little fishy. I called Apple and they have never seen it. There are no articles about anything like it on google. The persons SN is bolded which is odd since usually when iChat tells you if someone has signed off or on, the SN is not in bold. Also iChat never gives warning messages like these. I feel like it is some script for iChat that someone started using. If not and someone has in fact hacked my system, which I don't believe someone can do through iChat, can someone let me know what to do. Also if they hacked my system some other way, I don't see why iChat would warn me about it and not something else in the computer.

I asked my professor and he suggested installing Vmware. I did this and I don't know what to do because the disc still won't run. Selected the first option for partition of 32Gb, ran the XP Pro SP2 disc and it never gave me the option to format... Obviously got a "disc error, press any key to continue" message since the drive is not "bootable." So I found a thread online that sent me to the XP site to discuss FAT32 issues. The drive can't be larger than 32Gb (which it shows 32,600 after the partition), so I deleted the part. and rebuilt it at 30Gb. Still didn't give me the option to format the drive! It shows the partitions, so I select the C:yatta-yatta-/bootcampwhatever , press enter and it starts installing... Any idea on how to force the XP setup program to allow me to format the silly partition?

I can bring up either programs by holding down my option key and then choose either pc or mac ox. But now a problem has come up. I can now only boot up the pc program and it does not matter if you use the option key or not. PC program is all I get. What can I do to get back on my mac ox program?
