Me and my wife do web design and we recently switched to macs and we are wondering how people just write simple HTML sites on the mac? We use dreamweaver but would also like a simple text editor...
Similar to what notepad does in windows...We want to write text and have the text not have things added to it. Textedit is horrible.
We are designing Web website and we know about the snippets wreaking copy and paste but are there templates to your knowledge out there on that that would be like a questionnaire that already made up their work would I web I do not have to pay someone to do a custom build for? For instance I'm going to have a 31 question and answer survey. At the end of the survey there will be a review button. This will pop up in the client will be held to review all information and input. After they hit submit it will pop open to PayPal. Then the form will be e-mailed to the client and want to myself and with a database are you familiar with any websites that offer this template already designed that's compatible with my web?
I've made two coasters today on my iMac 27" core i7.
I am using Verbatim DVD +R DL blanks and utilized Disk Utility to make one coaster (copy to a .CDR and then burned) and then used Toast 10 to write IFO files.
The DVD will "run" but looks and sounds like a satellite tv signal in bad weather - choppy all over the place. This happens on 4 players - two separate laptops, an xbox 360, and even the original iMac 27" I used to write the DVDs.
I have had no problems whatsoever writing single layer DVDs (even using old Comp USA blanks!) and playing them on aforementioned players.
Anybody have any success writing DL DVDs? If so, what brand of disc did you use? Did you reduce speed to 2x writing? Help - I don't want to create any more coasters!
Alot of ppl uses third party software such as NTFS-3G and MacFuse but i also found some ppl who just tweak with the mac osx ( by entering some lines in Terminal) such as this guy in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Q_BrBk5KsI
My question is do both methods have the same effects and which method is better?
Also, if i were to partition my hdd in mac( as i want to install win 7 on it ) will i get the mac HD AND the windows HD on the OSX desktop?
so everyone knows the iMac hard drive can be a little noisy, but I just want to know what exactly is being "written" to the disk while doing normal tasks like web surfing.
I often use Safari and can hear the hard drive churning and Activity Monitor will show high red spikes of written data. What is this data being written? Is it normal?
Here's a screen shot of my Activity Monitor while web surfing and watching video with my EyeTV device. Does this look like normal activity to you?
What is the best blog writing software for the Mac (besides TextEdit ). I am looking for something to the equivalent of Windows Live Writer on the Windows side.
I'm looking for some useful app for writing sheets for piano. I tried o use Finale Print music 2009 but it was only a demo and I don't want to pay for it.
I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.8 and I'm having problems with file permissions. When I save a file, the file is readable and writable by the owner, and read only to all others (which I know is normal), but I would like my files to have read and write access to all upon saving them. Is there any way to accomplish this without simply changing the permissions of all the parent directories?
Can anyone do me a favour and write me a automator script that can, open address book, find all contacts that contain a dash in numbers and a space in the numbers then remove them from all contacts?
I'm new to macs, and am struggling a little more than before on a pc with the writing software programs such as microsoft word for mac or iwork. Most of the formatting boxes are hidden, and the writing and editing process does not flow as before. Is there a way around this?
I'm using NTFS-3G and have one of my Windows' installations partitions mounted in OSX. I like being able to write to it, but I'd like to prevent OSX from making its invisible files (like ._filename.txt for something I've edited with TextMate) on it because they show up in Windows and are generally of no use. Likewise there's no need to have things like .Trashes there since NTFS-3G can't delete to the trashcan anyway.
I recently bought a MBP 13" and plan to install windows XP SP2 on it via bootcamp. However, I've just read a few articles online about not being able to write onto the HDD while using windows xp since the partition would be formatted in ntfs? Does that mean I wouldn't even be able to install programs on my windows xp in boot camp??
My 27inch iMac has suddenly started writing to hard disc at 1.6MB/sec continuously according to Activity Monitor. Very noisy, and slowing computer down.. Cannot establish what it is writing or why. No virus (never been used for internet).
I am considering getting my first mac (MBA) but I have an external hdd with NTFS format. I've read that OSX can read files from NTFS but cannot write to it. What if I run Parallels/VMware using the bootcamp partition? Can I then write files to the external hdd?
I'm looking for a good and stable text editor to write a book in!? I don't like Pages that much because it's only a mediocre layout app, but in my opinion a bad text editor. Word on the other hand is better with text, but its interface is cluttered with superfluous menus and items that distract me.
I don't know why, but just now, I tried to burn a few .mov files onto a dvd and it won't work, I get the following error. , and yes, the drive reads, but won't write.
I have my files on a Windows machine in the next room, connected via Gbit (AirPort Extreme). The iTunes library is on my MacBook Air right here. But when I'm trying to add artwork to my files it isn't saved with the file. Normal tags (name, year etc) work.
I know itunes does it even Disco can do it, if any body can work it out? I'm looking for a good writing program thats easy to use and tags my cd tracks. Its for djing with cdj's that read the records track names on the units display...
Every time I write an email using iCloud, (I'm still using the SL, OS) the default font is Helvetica, which I really don't like. I would like to be able to change the Helvetica font to another font, but I can't find a way to change it.

I have noticed a lot of disk activity reading and writing, it maxes out in bursts up to a couple of minutes at a time and overall seams to be reading and writing a lot of the time, with no processor activity at all. There is no obvious culprits in the activity monitor but terminal displayed large number of read and writes for mds, but spot light is not indexing (no dot in Mag glass) and this has been happening from months now.
Possibly longer noticed it when recieved replacement drive due to crook seagate, may have been doing this but could not hear it. Running last Snow Leopard on iMac 27 mid 2011 i7 custom with 8 gb of ram. also should note this unit has had load of issues Bad Ram, some software problems would not sleep (software) none of which have ever manifested on any of my other (older) macs. Also have noted that this drive activity does seem to coincide with using safari on occasion??
if anyone knows of a program that allows someone to write a book/novel in what I think of as Book mode.I don't want to have it scroll down to the next page, I want it to show the writing in progress page by page; as though looking at the book while you're writing. I've search and cannot locate one that does this, does it by chance exist or am I stuck using Pages and turning it into a book after?
How do I quickly change writing direction in mail without going trough 7 different menu options? Is there a quick keyboard shortcut, or maybe an icon I can add to the mail bar?
My Imac has recently began to show some problems with Dual layers DVDs that I did not experience before. It doesn't burn any DVD9 anymore. Even worse, I can not play any DVD9 I'd burnt on the same drive before, because they are constantly ejected, while before that (till 1-2 months ago) I had no problem with the same discs. With retail dvds or dvd5s (+R or -R). Does it mean that my DVD drive has become defective?
