IMac :: Are Sandisk And Sony Memory Sticks Compatible
Dec 6, 2010
I have those sticks for my psp and the work great. PS3 sees them perfectly and the old pc I had, but for some reason my brand new imac doesn't see the memory stick I put in.
Am I putting it in the wrong way or do I need to buy something extra to get them to work on my mac?

My relatively new iMac 27" accepts and reads the memory stick on my Canon EOS Sxi, and my Sony dsc-h55 Cybershot. However, my wife has an earlier model Sony Cybershot, with a SanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo, and the iMac doesn't read it. I put it in, and nothing happens. With the other mem sticks, after I insert it into the SD Card slot, iPhoto starts, and reads the contents of the card. Should it read the SanDisk Stick?

I'm using an iMac OS X 10.2.8. When I plug in my Sony Cybershot (4.1 Mega Pixels) digital camera, the iMac will not read the ScanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo (512 MB). If I remove the memory card it will read the internal memory of the camera. When I first bought the memory stick it worked just fine but now I get these two error messages.
"A disk attempting to mount as Unkown has failed verification or has failed to mount. use Disk Utilities to check the disk and correct any errors"

Last night Lloyd Chambers of [URL] tweaked his DigLloydTools app (DLT) that we use to test memory throughput. It's now more accurate. The bad news is that it showed that when we put 8 sticks of memory in the 8-core 2.26GHz Nehalem, our throughput for memory read/write (memmove) dropped by 1/3. It turns a triple channel memory bus into a dual channel memory bus.
Specifically, in our test, the combined read/write throughput dropped from 9261MB/s to 6195MB/s when we went from 6x2GB to 8x2GB configuration.
Now, don't panic. That doesn't necessarily affect real world app performance unless the particular app you are running is saturating the memory bus. Which apps saturate? I don't know yet. I'm running our complete real world test suite including Pro Apps and 3D Games in both the 12G and 16G config. If I find anything that's significantly slowed by the 8x2G config, I'll post it here as well as on Bare Feats.

I'm trying to move pics from iPhoto to a SanDisk Memory Card. I've dragged them from iPhoto to the "open" card, and they're listed as such, but when the card is placed in my camera, or a digital frame, it says "no images".

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

I have three 16gb USB memory sticks that don't work correctly with Snow Leopard. Disk Utility is will only format them in FAT32 format and I'm unable to successfully copy files to and from the sticks.
They work perfectly fine under Windows in Boot Camp and also on my Windows based laptop. Sadly, I purchased them after I had installed Snow Leopard and I don't have access to another Mac with an earlier copy of Mac OS X to test them.
Is this most likely a Snow Leopard anomaly do you think or is it just that these sticks are not OS X compatible?

I have a Sony DVD301 Handycam that records to a 3" dvd. I have heard on numerous occasions that this is not Mac-compatible (camera only has a USB port, no FW). recently read that Handbrake 0.7.0 will easily convert the files so I can edit in iMovie. Can anyone confirm?

We just got an extra gig of ram, I put it in the iMac, but it sticks out like 1-2 mm more than the stick already in there. Is that a problem? Or is it just different to the one already in there.

I am looking to upgrade my ram to 8 GB on my 2010 17inch macbook pro. Looking at macmall I found this:
[URL]
Now it says it is compatible with the 2009 but is it also compatible with the 2010 models? They don't seems to have any memory that states it is compatible with the 2010 models but the spec seem the same (not sure in the 2010 model memory is a 204 pin or not). If this is not compatible, can someone point me to a location where I can buy 2010 macbook pro compatible ram.

I upgraded the memory in my macbook and was wondering if the old memory could be used in my dad's Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop? Below are the tech specs for both laptops
Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop

Installed Size 512.0 MB / 2.0 GB (max)
Technology DDR2 SDRAM - 400.0 MHz
Memory specification compliance PC2-3200

A friend gave me two sticks of 1GB each RAM from his Macbook Pro (he recently upgraded).
I have the white 2nd gen macbook core 2 duo, max of 2GB of RAM.
I'm wondering if what he gave me will work in my machine. I popped out RAM stick from mine, and the data on it reads:
512MB 2Rx16 PC2 5300S-555-12-E3, model M470T6554CZ3-CE6 0649
and what he gave me reads:
1GB 2R8x8 PC2 5300S-555-12-E3 and the model is listed as M470T2953EZ-CE6.

I inherited a Mac Pro 1,1 -- first generation. It only has 2gb ram (4 512 MB modules) so I'd like to upgrade it to 10 GB with an 8 gb kit. Per MacTracker the 1st gen MacPro does accept 4GB DDR2 667 FBDIMM modules. I got my hands on an 8 GB kit (2x4GB), but they aren't being read by the MacPro, at all. I made sure I ran all available firmware updates and everything, no dice. System Profiler doesn't see them.
I looked at two of the aftermarket modules in it -- they are both Kingston 512 MB DDR2 667 FBDIMM, but they are 1Rx8. The other two are the stock apple memory that is less-than-useless when trying to look at any chip architecture information. The ones I have are 4GB DDR2 667 FBDIMM 4Rx8 modules. I don't mind having to return them for another set of modules. If so, what type should I get?

For the Mbook Mid 2009 model (Rev. H), in the tech specifications it says it supports 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. However, I have 2 sticks of DDR-667 SDRAM lying around so I wouldn't mind using those if I can. Would the Mbook Mid 2009 work with DDR2-667 SDRAM?

Basically I've got my mac mini (1.5 core solo) going optical SPDIF into my Sony Surround amp (6.1) But If I play music from itunes i don't get 2.1 I get 2.0. I've been arsing around with Audio Midi Setup all evening to no avail, whatever I do it won't let me do anything other than stereo left and right, which of course is bloody annoying because it means the bass channel is completely missing.

my problem is i cannot work out how to get video to imovie from my son's sony handycam DCR-HC28E. some say use a firewire but the one i have doesn't even plug into the camera let alone the computer!is there someone out there who may have this same situation and has resolved it? there are sooo many bits you can stick into your various devices for ICT[information and communication technology-for those who don't get that in their mail all the time!] that i find it very frustrating when you think you have what you want only to get home and find it does not work with yours, is not compatible and so forth.maybe someone might know a good online store which deals in all those things...connecting things to other things.
