need App that would create a database & once completed opened by a browser
Hey any Apple made Apps or programs made for Macs that can
Take a list of data= lets say 500 phone numbers & if someone makes an exact match would let the user know it's a match
√ database CAN NOT be deployed to a website, just opened by the browser off of the desktop
√ Looking for something that would be a small window
I just got a MacBook Pro for christmas. It has Snow leopard and i've updated all the software. I've connected to the internet and it works to a point. Every once in awhile it says i'm not connected but i am and its very good connection. I'm just wondering if it's the MacBook, or is it the internet. Because it doesn't do that for any of the other laptops or xbox 360. Only my MacBook and my Ps3.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I opened safari my homepage was apple and it opened using the middle of the display with the desktop screensaver visable on both sides of the page now it opens adn takes up the whole screen I don't know how to resize it and save it where it will open to the same all the time. I'm a very new owner of an IMAC and to apple so I'm completely in the dark to mac systems and just stumbling around. I'm a 70 year old guy that's ben drug into the 21 century and trying to keep up (not very good )

I want to create a disk image of a Mac drive (.dmg file).I figured that it might not be a good idea to try and image a live disk, so I unmounted it (the user dragged the disk icon to the eject icon), and I confirmed it was unmounted by looking at /Volumes. To be clear here, this isn't the boot volume, that is /dev/disk0./dev/disk1 is an internal drive - as it happens it's the original drive for this OSX 10.4 G5, AND /Volumes/HITACHI is the mount point for an external USB drive.I have tried this twice.On both occassions, things seemed to go well, but after a few minutes (about 10 - 20 minutes), I observed that the target file on /Volumes/HITACHI stopped growing, then a bunch of unpleasant stuff started to happen:
* I did lsof /Volumes/HITACHI/MacHD_20120201.dmg and found the PID of the diskimage binary, ps waux showed it was doing nothing (CPU% was 0.0). This indicates a stuck process to me.
* The hdutil command stopped producing '.'
* I could not cancel the hduitl command
* I could not rm the MacHD_20120201.dmg file
* I could not ls the /Volumes/HITACHI directory
* unlink also hung
A little further into this, the Mac became unresponsive. I observed that the disk was now mounted again (grrr!). As a work around I switched the USB drive off and on, and Mac came good - all my terminals started to respond, the GUI responded for the user.My workaround has been to use CCC to make a clone of the disk - but I don't like this because I think .dmg files are much more convenient (for a start, now that I've used CCC I can't use the USB drive for anything else).
* Is my methodology wrong? Do I really need to umount the /dev/disk1
* Can you disable finder from automounting an internal hard drive (I am particularly interested in this)Â

I am looking for a Mac program that is encrypted that can be used to store data such as passwords, personal information, business information, and other information that needs to be secure. I like Bento and just upgraded to Bento 2 but there is no password protection. I have a password to log onto my Mac but I know it's not 100% secure and I'm looking for security as high as 448 bit. A password vault type of program would be nice but I want something that has additional database features. I have done a lot of work on Google but have not been able to find anything.

I work for IT Support in a company and i've been handed a Mac that gives 9 beeps (3 short, 3 long, 3 short) which signals a system board problem. I am trying to get the user set up on a Windows laptop as we have no spare Macs for him and i am transferring the data from the Mac HDD to my laptop. The problem is, the emails on the HDD are in the database format and not the .mbox format. How do i convert it to a useable PST?

I've always wanted to prepare a coin database and came up with Liberty Street's Coin Manage and Currency Manager. A year later I'm finally getting to use them but have switched to a Mac. I could use Windows through Parallels but am wondering what Mac solutions are out there.
It appears the company doesn't make a Mac version. I know Filemaker Pro 9 is likely an option but I'm not sure how hard it would be to set up a database.
I've searched for this here and elsewhere and have not found a satisfactory answer as yet. Here's my problem:
I've been using Time Machine on my MacBook for a year and change, backing up to an external LaCie 500GB drive. Recently I acquired a 1TB drive to replace this and find that there's apparently no easy way to get the Time Machine database from the old drive to the new. I used Carbon Copy Cloner (as someone here suggested) and it got everything but the TM data. I've tried copying individual folders from within the old TM data structure but it tells me it's "Sorry" and refuses to do it. I would hate to have to start from scratch with TM since it has occasionally saved my bacon by finding old versions of files that I desperately needed. Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

I've been using MS Access for years on PC to keep track of about 500 names between a couple different groups. And then started using on my macbook with Parallels. I have ACT (on PC) which is a fab sales Dbase for the above but they don't make it for mac.
filemaker pro does this but has many more features that i will not use...
does anyone recommend anything or use anything similar for the above features i am looking for?
Having some issues with mac mail at work. My mac mail is connected to our exchange server. It is working fine. Ran into a problem today. Mac mail quit for some reason and when I fired it back up, it walked me through the process of configuring mac mail to connect to exchange. The odd thing now is the only mail I see in mac mail is new mail, none of my old previous mail. I see my folder structure that I created (held on exchange), but I cannot seem to figure out why I cannot sync my mail to show my emails in mac mail. Is there a way to clean out the old stuff in mac mail and start fresh?

Started computer this morning and "Contact Database" is empty. Noticed iCloud box became "Unchecked" on Macbook Pro. Contacts still reside on iPad and iPhone via iCloud. If I check "Contacts" box on Macbook, will contacts be downloaded from iCloud or will MacBook Pro upload an empty database to the iCloud and erase all?
