Software :: Getting Imovie Panasonic NV-EX3 Via FireWire
May 23, 2008
Is it possible to get Imovie (or anything else) to recognize my NV-EX3 camcorder (on OSX) via FireWire? NV-EX3 works fine on all PC's, browsing forums and www and contacting MAC and Panasonic has not provided a solution, this seems to be impossible!

I have an old JVC GR-DVL920U digital camera and am attempting to connect it to my (new) macbook with a firewire..iMovie does not detect any camera connected. I initially attached the cable to the camera, then into the firewire port, then turned the camera on to VCR mode. When that didn't work I tried restarting the camera, unplugging and plugging back the firewire and even restarting the computer with the firewire plugged in.
The computer is not detecting and device being plugged into the firewire port. I even tried with a USB and didn't capture any detection. My still digital camera (Canon SD1000) plugs in with the USB and has no problems, my (old) ipod shuffle plugs directly into the USB port and there are no problems.

I need to import my movies via firewire, but can only do it through my brother's macbook, as my new macbook does not have firewire. Therefore, I imported 100 GB worth of movies onto his computer, then transferred the iMovie Events and iMovie Projects folders onto a hard drive, then transferred them from the hard drive to MY macbook. Now they are sitting on the desk top. How do I get them into iMovie on my macbook, now that I have transferred the files from my brother's macbook onto my macbook's desktop?

I currently have my second MBP that I got from Macmall and both in a matter of two weeks have had similar issues. The first I managed to get returned and replaced, that is a seperate and complicated story in and of itself. This particular issue started with a boot up sequence that was taking about 5-6 mins. After going through the drill with Applecare thought I could restore using Time Machine. That's when I found out that the FW400 port no longer worked to power my Oyen Digital 250G FW drive. Any thoughts as to what might be the problem? This is my second MBP and Oyen Digital FW drive. I had them both replaced!

I just got a Mac Mini (March 2009 model) and want to connect it via Firewire to my Sony TRV-22 camcoder. The camcorder has a Mini DV Firewire jack on it (I think this is called a 4-pin connector sometimes too). But on the Mac Mini, I can't tell if I need a 6-pin or a 9-pin. Can someone point me to a good cable so I can dump some MiniDV tapes into iMovie?

I have a Panasonic P2 camera that records on mini dv or a P2 card. I can capture the video from tape but not from the P2 card. I've downloaded the drivers, installed the programs from the CD that came with the camera but it still won't work.

I am having an incredibly frustrating time trying to connect my iMac to a Panasonic Viera TV. Â
Using a mini DVI to DVI adapter attached to a DVI to HDMI cable (I am not concerned about sound right now) I am getting nothing but a blank screen on the TV. The cable is plugged into the HDMI1 porrt on the TV (but I have tried both). The iMac is recognising the TV but despite playing around with the settings on the preferences I am still unable to mirror the iMac display on the TV. All cables are brand new.Â
I have tried rebooting the iMac whilst in the HDMI setting on the TV but without success.Â

I have some stop motion animation software on my mac, and would really like to use it, but for some reason, my video camera, a Panasonic HDC-TM80, won't register. It will upload pictures and videos taken on itself, but it won't or can't be recognized by my mac as a webcam. What is wrong? Do I need some fancy-shmancy software or hardware? If so, then what? How would I use it? How much might it cost?Â

I googled it and it didn't help out as much. I have this Shure Mic and it has MIDI input and would like to have some kind of adapter to firewire. I know there is an USB adapter, but i would like to use firewire. It can be firewire 400 or 800. I like to record some songs for GarageBand.

I was thinking of buying a Panasonic Viera S1 series (50") and hooking it up to my Macbook Pro to watch movies. This is their less expensive line. In researching the difference between this and the more expensive G15, I was told by Panasonic that the S1 doesnt have a true computer input, (just HDMI, component etc.) and they dont guarantee it will work. (Looking at a picture of the back of the G15 it looks like the "computer" input they are referring to is a VGA.)
This seems odd. I have an older LCD TV (no HDMI or DVI input, just component and video) and all I have to do is hook it up with a DVI to S video adapter and off we go. The specs of these various interfaces are consistent I'm sure, so what's this "may not work" business? Either it does, or it doesnt, right?
I will say that there is hard disk noise with the old TV which can be annoying. Is this what they mean?

I've got a MacBook Pro running 10.5.8. Just took my first pictures/video with the GH2 using a Lexar 64GB SDXC card. When plugging in the USB cable that came witht the camera I got - "The disk you inserted was not recognized by this computer". I've written to Lexar but so far they've been no help. I know the file system for this card is FAT32 which is a PC format. I know this card will work with the Mac...but how is it accomplished?
