Software :: What Is The Best Value HD 1080 Editing Software

Aug 28, 2009

What is the Best Value HD 1080 editing Software?

I have an intel 15" macbook pro with Tiger installed
Considering upgrading to Leopard with Ilife '09 to get the 1080 capable editing

but is there a better value alternative that will run with my current system?
I have a considerable amount of software like CS3 suite installed.

Or, Should I simply purchase a 13" that will come with Leopard and Ilife pre-installed?

MacBook Pro :: YouTube 720 And 1080 Lag?

Apr 2, 2010

So I think this has something to do with the 10.6.3 update but I'm not sure.

I use CXG to play games sometimes, and my framerates have been cut in half.

when I play videos on YouTube, 320 and 460 work fine, but an HD settings causes the video framerate to suffer awfully.

I can play DVD's fine though, popped in the Hurt Locker and I can play it full screen just fine.

Is this an Open GL thing? how can I roll back an update or figure out what's up.

Edit here is what activity monitor says when I play my Video at 1080 Safari itself seems to lock up

That's twice this week I've tried watching downloaded HD trailers through Quicktime and both times they've been stuttery and unwatchable.

Very annoying. Is it likely just the PowerBook or something else rotten in Denmark? Smaller trailers play fine.

OS X :: What Software Do You Use To Play Back 720/1080 Movie Files

Aug 29, 2010

So yesterday I bought a lovely 1080p LED monitor (Benq 2420HDBL) and I want to watch some HD movies through it.

The files are all ripped to .mkv and I've noticed VLC is buggy as hell (Jerky playback, lots of artifacts etc.) I know my Mac is up to the task (New 'decoding: 10 Mac pro) so it can't be that.

I saw this article that says VLC is really bad for H264: [URL]

I've done the steps labeled above, but with only very very minor success.

Are there any other players you could recommend? (Not M player 2 though, just tried that and I got HUGE burst of white noise through my high end audio monitors (luckily they have in-built limiters, if not I have no doubt I'd be deaf/looking at a very annoying repair).

MacBook Air :: World Of Warcraft Display 1920 X 1080?

Oct 21, 2010

I saw a few videos on youtube of the previous revision models and it seemed OK.

So this will run WoW on mediumish at 1440x900? I take it if I connected it to a 1920 x 1080 display in windowed mode it would probably lag?

MacBook Air :: Stuttering While Playing Flash Content (720 / 1080 P)

Nov 14, 2010

So I tried playing a few 720p/1080p flash videos on Youtube and Hulu in fullscreen mode and the videos seem to stutter quite a bit. Is that normal? I am using Firefox on my ultimate MBA 11". I thought the 320m gpu could at least handle HD videos.

Power Mac G5 :: Dual 2 GHz Won't Smoothly Play 720 Or 1080 HD Quicktime Trailers?

Nov 29, 2009

Dual Processor Power Mac G5 2 GHz with 4 GB of RAM

I could have sworn that my G5 used to be able to play all levels of HD movies smoothly as anything sometime during normal Tiger usage.

Then one day, I noticed my G5 when on Tiger would stutter playing anything about 480.

I thought the upgrade to Leopard would fix this. But just today I upgraded to 10.5.3 on this G5 (I used the upgrade option on the install DVD to upgrade from Tiger) and it STILL won't play HD trailers 720 or 1080 smoothly.

is this supposed to be? Do I not have the minimum requirements to watch those kinds of resolutions anymore?

I know this machine is 4 years old now, but seriously? That seems crazy to me.

Does anyone else have this configuration and see similar or different behavior?

Information:
G5 Dual 2 Ghz
Mac OS X (10.5.3)
4 GB RAM

Applications :: Media Share 1080 HD Imovie Project / Unable To Locate Movie

Nov 12, 2010

So i finished my first ten-minute long short film, i'm really proud of it. I wanted to share the whole thing in 1080p HD and then import it into after effects for some finishing touches. I did sharing < media sharing < 1080p hd.

1. Where did my movie go? it doesn't show up in iMovie anymore, and I found a big file over 1GB which appears to be my movie (but no way is it in 1080p, and I filmed with a sony HDR xr520v). I cant put that back into iMovie nor after effects.

2. Can I import this file into after effects cs4 and then re-export it in an equal quality?

IMac :: Using I7 HD Editing?

Sep 9, 2010

Im planning buying a new camcorder and are not sure which road to go in regard to video file format. Im planning using Premiere Pro CS5. I know the AVCHD format is very demanding for many consumer setups, but will this HW/SW setup do the job? I have also considered the Canon HV40 that uses the HDV format which is less demanding. Real time editing is of course the main goal. Anyone here who have experience?

Applications :: Editing An ISO?

Dec 23, 2004

I am trying to create a custom ISO for installing linux on dedicated servers, based on a standard ISO. For this, I need to edit a file which contains parameters for partitioning the HD, as I have replaced the supplied HD with a larger one on many machines, and want to modify partition creation, so I do not have to install fdisk and modify the /home partition later.

I have the ISO and can mount it, and edit the necessary file, but I cannot save it back into the ISO.

How should I do this? I've googled widely and found nothing.

OSX 10.3, Toast 5, trying to alter Cobalt Raq 4i ISO.

OS X :: Editing An Icon?

Oct 25, 2010

I want to be able to edit an icns file I have. I tried copying/pasting into an image editing application, but the transparency copies as a black background. Annoying.

I got the icon here. I basically want to take the Bender icon, add a beard, and rename it Flexo (for fans of the show). I have two identical raid5 boxes that will be mirroring each other, and I would like Bender and Flexo to be identical.

Anyway, is there any simple way to edit an icns file with OS X 10.6? All I need is to be able to add Flexo's beard, then save an image with transparency. I use iconverticons.com to convert to icns format, so I wouldn't need the application to save to icns.

Mac Pro :: Best Configuration For Editing DV?

Aug 7, 2008

I am planning to buy a NEW MAC PRO optimized for my purposes, which are: editing, with Final Cut Studio, independent movies originated on DV format. I'm primarily concerned with having a system maximized for speed in terms of real time editing as well as rock solid stability. So, my primary questions revolve around these issues:

(keep in mind cost is an issue for me - the total for tower and internal hardware should not exceed $5000)

First, is there much of a speed difference in Final Cut Studio between the 2.8 gHZ and the 3.0 gHZ processors - enough to justify the $800 price tag?

Second, I want to have plenty of storage space but I'm finding it difficult deciding on which hard drives (brand, speed, etc) are best for my purposes. (And for cost reasons I don't want to order the stock drives from Apple) Again, I would stress dependability and speed. My initial idea was to get three to four 750 gb or one tb drives. I thought I could have one drive be the system drive and the remaining two to three be raid 0 - arrayed for media storage. Is this a feasible storage configuration? Any consensus as to which brand and model drives out there are best for speed and dependability? And how about the Raid 0 setup - does this sound good, or any other recommendations? I know this is risky as far as data loss, so I was thinking of getting an equivalent amount of external drive space to back up to.

Third, I am wondering about RAM. Again I don't want to spend the $ to buy RAM from Apple. Two questions then about RAM: 1) how much realistically do I need for speedy editing? I was thinking 8 gbs - is this too much? not enough? 2) I need recommendations on which RAM brand and type to buy? And where should I buy it from? Again, dependability is all-important.

Fourth, is the 2600 graphics card sufficient for my purposes? Or will spending the extra $ on the 8800 be worth it? I will probably be connecting only 2 monitors to it.

Fifth, do I need any additional capture cards or some other video card? In the past I've always just captured video from my camera through firewire.

I would prefer it to be automatic so that I don't have to copy them twice and also so that I know that what ever I copy into one folder it will automatically go into the other folder?
