I am using a macbook which i have just upgraded to leopard, when i connect to the internet it takes for ever to open the web pages.. I am using a Netgear DGN2000 router. I have contacted netgear and they say i need to contact Mac. I am also using a HP laptop on vista which connects and opens web pages in seconds,
I'm finding my MBA rev b to be quite slow opening apps, I bought the 1.6 ghz 120gb model.
It seems like everything's rather slow to open. I have 30gb free on the hard drive, iTunes, Safari (5 tabs) TextWrangler and mail open all day.
If I ever need to go into Firefox it takes a fair while to get up and running. I ran some xbench scores and it seems very slow on the random reads, oddly it was much quicker writing to the disk than reading.
Is their anyone in the know who can confirm that this is normal? Or if not, is there anything I can do to give it a boost?
I just got my new iMac 20" last week and iWork '08 with it. I just wanted to know how to set Pages as the default for opening all .docx (MS Word 2007) and .doc (MS Word 2003) files. At the moment TextEdit is the default and whilst I can change the default for individual files, I haven't figured out how to set it for every file.
I'm new to MacRumors. I just installed IWork on my new 13" MBP (has Snow Leopard) and have been unable to open Word 97 documents that I've been emailing myself from work and saving to a flash drive. I have not had such problems with my IMac using Pages.
From the response I received in the Pages forum, this appears to be a Lion-related question.Since I upgraded to Lion, I noticed that whenever I open a specific Pages document other recently-opened Pages documents will also open. Is there a way to prevent this? I was unable to find anything in Pages preferences.

I purchased Pages off the Apple site back in March. I am working on a project that involves several images. I tired to back up to a usb and when I did the usb said no image files. Pages froze and would not let me continue to work on it. I have deleted all big images off my computer. I can't back up to google docs as it freezes. everything is causing my computer to freeze. Now I am left with a computer that is running very slow and none of the images I need. Help, my project is due tomorrow and is worth a huge part of my mark
my macbook pro has been running fine without any pop ups until today I did a software update for my microsoft mac word 2011 and ever seen its been opening other windows whenever im searching on the internet or click on something by mistake. I am using google chrome as a browser how i can get rid of the ads and opening unwanted pages.
For the past few days Numbers and Pages docs are not opening from iCloud on my Mac. The docs open on my other devices. I get this message: "The file “DS Financial.numbers” couldn’t be opened."
Up until yesterday I was solely a Windows/PC-based computer user. I am now running Mac OS X with my new Mac Pro. Before turning off my PC system, hopefully forever, I downloaded all my MS Word files to a USB stick. I'm a writer and only worked in MS Word for my work.I just purchased iWork '09 and am very impressed with the Pages App and I'm very excited to start working in Pages '09. when I insert my USB stick with all my Word Docs on it into my Mac Pro, is it a case like under Windows/XP where you just open up each file with the Pages '09 program or is there something more to do to get Pages '09 to open the file up and save it within Pages '09? I understand Pages '09 works with MS Word files (as well as formatting to Word docs to send to colleagues).
What's going on with Safari (i'm on latest version & SL)? I thought it was the "fastest web browser" and yet it has issues opening 5-10 pages at the same time in tabbed mode when selecting "open in tabs" from bookmarks.I understand it can't load all pages quickly at the same time but even after few min (and i have a fast DSL connection) some pages appear crippled, some missing entire images, etc.
Safari wont open any pages such as youtube, facebook etc saying that it cannot establish a secure server. This just happened about 3 hours ago just as my mac went to sleep. The only new thing I did was use an HDMI cable to connect to my TV. The mac had been shutdown for low battery because i fell asleep on movie. Anyways, I woke up plugged in my charger only to find that i can't connect to certain sites... Further compounding my problem is a taskbar that says "The certificate for this website is invalid. You might be connecting to a website that is pretending to be <url here>.

I am running SL and the Gmail Notifier for Mac, and Firefox. Every time I click an email link in Firefox, instead of opening up a "compose mail" page in Gmail like it used to, recently I just get sent to an old-style HTML only Gmail page, as pictured below.
Anyone else experiencing this? it's getting pretty annoying that any time I click an email, I get sent to a useless Gmail page. I've tried googling the problem, but it never turns up results that are relevant.
I have a MAC OSX 10.6.8. My images aren't always opening up and sometimes the pages openup in an outline fashion without all the images. Sometimes it doesn't open at all and I get a message that "safari can't open the page".......this has been happening a lot within the last week. What can I do to fix this?
How to stop pages opening in Full Screen Mode? This occurs on most software and is very annoying when you have a large monitor with one small picture taking up the whole screen.PLUS trying to reduce the size of the screen means the cursor has to find a tiny one pixel area in the corner in order to reduce the screen size. This takes up a lot of time when working on several images.(enlarging the cursor size is not an answer and makes it worse because it's hard to exactly align the cursor with the text or else it edits the wrong line of text).
Need to open Pages documents. I created a document on an older version of pages and now my new MacBook Air won't open it and says I need to save it on Pages 09 first. How do I do that? I really need to be able to open my old (old as in only a year old) Pages documents.
I am having a bit of an issue with my 13 MBP. With absolutely no rhyme or reason as to frequency, I have been having issues where all of a sudden: I can't create folders on the desktop (Error code -50) iTunes won't open (error code 13014) Spotlight won't search (returns dictionary definitions) Firefox won't open (A copy is already running...) Thunderbird won't open (A copy is already running...) and probably other problems I can't recall right off.
The machine is slow to restart when I do; one time I couldn't get past the gray screen for an hour. Once it gets through a restart however everything is fine for some amount of time before the problem happens again. I have received two kernel panics in the past week. Both came off the back of waking the laptop from sleep. As far as I can tell (or remember), I haven't installed anything that would cause the system to go nuts. I have TM backups, would prefer to use one of those versus a complete wipe as I have Parallels installed and don't want to have to redo that, plus Windows, plus all my Windows programs, etc. I do have a lost+found and Damaged Files folders in my Macintosh HD directory. Not sure where they came from, can't really determine by looking. More info, when I try to save something from online, it says there is not enough disk space. Also, it appears as though dmg's will not mount.
Whenever I launch Pages, the application opens pretty much all the documents I've worked on. I take care to close all the windows, hoping that they won't launch again next time I start the application, yet they do. I can't find a setting in the preferences or Settings to disable this behavior.

After updating Quicktime to 7.2 it has gotten really slow when opening a movie, VLC on the other hand does this in an instant.
I can open Quicktime Player itself pretty fast, but when I want to open something, I get the beachball spinning for about 5-10 seconds, only then I can switch to the player and watch it.
This is really annoying.. I don't want to use VLC, because it is not that stable and I hate to use its FF feature. Is there something I can do about it? I tried downloading QT player from Apple and reinstalling.
I have an iMac and it is about 4 years old. For some reason it is very slow starting up, takes about 90 seconds. Opening even a normal app like Firefox takes sometimes 2 minutes.
I had the harddrive replaced as part of one of the recall programmes form Apple as the OEM drive was malfunctioning, that made it slightly better, but soon after the old poor performance was back.
