My Dad is currently unable to connect to the Internet with his Mac.
He's using Mac OS X Version 10.4.11. It connected fine this morning but he's been unable to connect this afternoon or this evening. A message keeps popping up saying: "Could not find a PPPoE server". I've tried running through the wizard for setting up the connection but it doesn't seem to work.
I've been using my PC online all day with no problems.

Have a new (used) imac running 10.5.6
Used migration assistant to transfer data from G4 which may have been my first mistake...however it's done. Before transfer I was able to access my mac mail, however after transfer I'm unable to.
My isp is comcast. They have not been able to help me. We have gone over preference settings, and that is not the problem.

Ok this issue has been plaguing me for months and I just can't resolve it. I have an iMac (early 2008, supports wake on wireless) with Snow Leopard basically providing all of our services like iTunes, files etc. After the blasted thing falls asleep, when I try to connect to it in Finder with my macbook it'll say "connection failed". If I go wake it up, everything will work fine. I have an Airport Extreme (dual band). It'll show the machine available in finder while it's sleeping, I just can't wake it up. The option "Wake for Network Access" is selected on the Imac. Not sure why it won't wake up. At first the iMac was connected via airport wireless. I tried connecting the ethernet port to a base station and disabling wireless instead but the same issue exists.

I am currently attempting to assist a lady who is experiencing many issues connecting to wireless networks and using VPN software to connect to our resources. I will provide as much detail as I can, however this has been an ongoing job involving myself and quite a few other support officers. I am, historically, a PC user. I can provide some basic Mac support, but only what I have been trained in. I am now seeking assistance, as I have reached the limit of my knowledge. An issue was raised with myself when this lady first called and reported that she was having trouble connecting her VPN client (from Cisco) while connected to a remote wireless connection.
I went through some basic troubleshooting (what errors are you getting, etc.) and eventually discovered that the client was using a static IP (Self assigned in Mac-speak). I was perplexed that the lady would be using this and asked some more probing questions. Turns out, the hotel that she is staying in does not have any wireless connections available and she is using next doors' (shady, I know). One of her friends informed her that the best way to connect would be to use this static IP (10.1.1.2). This means that multiple computers would be connecting to the same network with the same IP address. I informed her that static IPs are meant to be unique to all computers on the network and that having overlapping ones may cause conflicts. When she changed this back to DHCP, she then lost all network activity. the Airport device was turned on, but not connected to anything......................

I'm trying to connect my MBP to an HDTV with a dvi/hdmi cable. When I plug it in, all I can see on my my HDTV is my MBP wallpaper.
how do I do this, my display options (in the system settings) only has two tabs: display, and color.
No arrangements tab. Does my MBP have to be connected to the TV to have an arrangements option?

I have a iMac G4 I'm trying to restore so I can browse the web and do simple word processing with. It currently has OS X 10.4.11 on it. It won't connect to a WPA network, but it will connect to a WEP network. Is this an issue with the Airport card or with Tiger. Should I upgrade to OS X 10.5?

I have the MacBook 2.2 GHz with an Airport Extreme wireless card. When I try to connect to my WEP network, for some reason it just does not work. I have tried on multiple networks. I know that it is an issue with my computer because when I use a Windows computer or my Ipod Touch I have no issues.

I was getting tired of my belkin54g router that kept dropping connections, so I went and got a new linksys wireless G router. I popped in the CD, followed all the instructions and when I get to the end of the install it says that the configuration was successful, but it could not verify an internet connection.
I figure it's just a hiccup and try to connect with my laptop via airport- success! I get my homepage. But then, I can't get to any other page at all.
It says it can't find the page, but my network connection in system preferences says I'm connected. I go to my desktop which has the hardwire connection and I can't get on the internet at all, but again, my network connection in system preferences says I'm connected- green light, IP address and all.
So I figured I did something wrong and restored the factory settings on the router. Same thing happens again. WTF? This should have been easy. What the hell is wrong with this thing?
It should be noted that if I type in my IP address, the router info comes up immediately. I am also just connecting my modem to my desktop to post now. My internet connection works fine.

My blackbook is about 6 months old now, and I've had occasional problems with the magsafe connector since then.
Basically, it works most of the time, but sometimes when I plug it in, the light doesn't come on and the battery doesn't charge.
I've tried using the connector to power up the computer without the battery, but that doesn't work either. It therefore seems to me like it could be a problem with the adaptor rather than the MB?
As I say, I've had the problem a while now - this has happened on three seperate occasions, though eventually after a lot of taking the adaptor out and plugging it back in again (scientific, I know! ) it inexpicably starts working again!
It can sometimes be days before it works again though. But each time it starts working again I'm so relieved the problem seems to have gone away that I just forget about getting it sorted for the long term.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? Is it definitely an adaptor problem? Should I just give up on the adaptor and go get a genius appointment?

I've had the 13" aluminum macbook since October 2008 and I've never had a problem with the wireless or an Ethernet connection. I turned on my computer the other day and I couldn't connect to the internet through my ethernet port. I've determined it's not my connection (friend's macbook connects fine) and I've tried connecting to other ports around my campus and it still doesnt work. On network settings, the light is green, cable detected, assigned an ip address and dns but it simply times out when I try to connect to anything (firefox, itunes store, mail, etc.). I'm fairly new to mac os x.

I am new to Mac and have been struggling with this issue for the last week or so: there are a few websites I cannot access anymore (such as www.westpac.com.au, www.telstra.com.au, www.optus.com.au and a few others). As far as I can guess it is not:strictly *.au website related (or at least I think) because I can access some others *.au websites and some other in *.com or *.fr don't work either. My ISP (iinet in Australia) as the websites mentioned above work from my PC when I connect it from home. Below the result from a PING on the first 2 websites in the list above:
PING www.westpac.com.au (203.24.6.90): 56 data bytes
36 bytes from TenGigabitEthernet7-1.ken29.Sydney.telstra.net (203.50.20.41): Communication prohibited by filter
Vr HL TOS Len ID Flg off TTL Pro cks Src Dst
4 5 00 5400 0ea6 0 0000 38 01 978d 10.0.1.4 203.24.6.90
PING www.telstra.com.au (144.140.108.25): 56 data bytes
--- www.telstra.com.au ping statistics ---
37 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss
I have this issue from both my iMac and my Macbook Air, on which I have set up no firewall or other specific filter. I am using a Belkin modem, on which I have desactivated the WiFi to use a TimeCapsule as a WiFi router. I get the same issue when I try to connect from Safari, Firefox or Chrome. I have exhausted all tips and tricks I have from the PC word.

Today my ipod started to act up. I cant seem to connect it to my computer anymore. When I plug it into my FireWire port, all it does is charge the battery. I am thinking there might be a problem with the FireWire cable itself (i hope, cause thats a cheap and easy fix). I know it isn't a problem with the FireWire port on my computer, because my CD Burner works fine.

Anyway, so I bought a 15" 2.66GHz MBP beginning of December and up until a day or 2 ago I've been experiencing problems when I try connecting to the internet.
There are 2 other computers in the house (Windows based, don't know if that's go anything to do with it) and they both connect just fine.
So is there anything wrong with the MBP that I can fix?
(I've tried rebooting the MBP, the router, the modem, everything...)

Anyways, i used to have a Linksys wrt54g router. It was hooked up and had an SSID of linksys. Later replaced it with i think the wrt110n or whatever the 110 draft N model number is. This router was set up and the wrt54g taken down (no longer plugged in at all). The wrt110n has an SSID of hawkes, and everything works fine but after browsing for an hour or so I will loose internet connection.
When I click the airport icon in the status bar it tells me that I am connected to a network called "linksys". I have to then click to reconnect to hawkes which is the network that I should be on.
Now I'm not sure if there is someone else broadcasting an unencrypted wireless network with the SSID linksys and my mac is just trying to connect to it at times or if it is getting confused and trying to connect to an old network?
I'm wondering if anyone has had similar problems or if anyone knows how I could tell the airport utility to "forget" about old networks with the name linksys so it will stop trying to connect to them?

I have a MBP that will not connect to the internet. The airport shows an ip, but shows failed for internet and server. I have another laptop, desktop, ipad 2&3, iphone and 3 ipods connected to wifi and work flawlessly. I called the ISP and spoke with them for about 2 hours and they say all settings are right, and they can even see the MBP on their end. Wanted to add, i cannot connect with ethernet either, wired directly to modem by bypassing router.

Since I updated to iCloud, (which may or may not be related) Mail on my MacBookPro 10.6.8 has been unable to connect to MobileMe more than once or twice per day. Mail on my iPhone 4 and my old iMac has no problems. When there is no service a yellow warning triangle appears adjacent to the Inbox and Connection Doctor reports,"Trying to log into this MobileMe IMAP account failed. Verify that username and password are correct." Since it does fetch Mail from time to time they cannot be wrong.... can they? Should I update to 10.7 and if so what does that entail?
