Software :: Program Won't Relaunch After Deletion?

Nov 16, 2008

I bought an AT&T air card for my comp to receive internet on and when it stopped working I deleted the program in hopes that when all the files were deleted that it would relaunch and I could start anew. To my knowledge all the files are gone and the air card's program still won't relaunch. It doesnt show up on the desktop when plugged in so I have no way of accessing it.

OS X :: TM Backup Deletion - Space Unchanged?

Oct 12, 2009

I was deleting many TM daily backups, but after exiting TM, I would see in the finder that the delete windows wouldnt stop, so I figured to relaunch the finder hoping that this would end. Well I made a restart too and then although in TM those backups seemed to be deleted, the HD space was unchanged, as if they hadn't been deleted.

Applications :: How Deletion Of Programs Work

Jan 20, 2010

I am a potential Mac user and was wondering how deletion of programs and applications work? I understand that most of the files are contained within the installation folder because there is basically no registry for the most part. However, some applications will be tied to the OS right? What is the best way to delete applications completely?

OS X :: Protect Files From Deletion In Time Machine?

Feb 19, 2009

I'm still having a little problem grasping hard links. But no matter, here's the problem: there's a file in Time Machine that I want to keep backed up forever. It's too big to fit on my hard drive, and I want to make sure Time Machine doesn't delete it automatically when the backup drive is full.

How can I make it a "permanent" backup?

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Can't Undo Deletion Of Some Emails But Others I Can

May 18, 2012

I'd like to be able to undo any deletion, or at least know why I can in some cases and not in others. We're using a free google business account using our own domain name, using Mail to retrieve messages. This is the ONLY account I have on this computer. In the inbox, I can delete one email, and under Edit it says "Undo Delete Message" and then I go on to delete the next message, and under the Edit menu it says just "Undo" and that's grayed out. Command Z doesn't work either.

The "un-undoable" deleted messages are in the trash associated (properly) with the account, but even if I immediately go to the edit menu, the Undo is still grayed out. This is pretty annoying and definitely puzzling

Info:MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2009), Mac OS X (10.6.8)un-undoable

MacBook Pro :: OS X 10.9.2 - User Account Deletion Very Slow

Jun 29, 2014

I have a new Macbook pro with OS X 10.9.2. Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, Memory 4GB 1600 MHz DDR3.

In the process of importing all my settings, applications, documents etc. and then updated documents, I ended up with 2 user accounts.

I've set the 2nd of these to be deleted. The Users & Groups window which says it's "Deleting Account...", and won't allow me to close System Preferences because it "is busy and can't be closed. Users & Groups is removing a user account and Home directory" It's been like this for about 3 hours. There's no indicator showing whether it's progressing or stuck.

After doing this, I tried deleting an extraneous user on my 'old' Macbook and it deleted it in a few minutes (though in this case there was no question about removing  its Home directory).

OS X :: Finder Will Not Relaunch - Desktop Disappears

Nov 10, 2009

Is it normal for the Finder to quit using the Cmd+ Q? I thought it needs to be force quit. But of late, sometimes, accidentally if I press Cmd+Q on a finder window, it quits, and does not relaunch either. So to speak, the Desktop disappears. I have to launch Downloads/Documents from the Dock to start the finder running once again. Doesn't seem Mac like. Something wrong, is it? And I recall this started happening after I ran an update for 10.6.1. It was running fine with 10.6.0

MacBook Pro :: Bootcamp To OSX Fails To Relaunch?

Mar 22, 2012

I have that other software installed on my bootcamp, because all of my engineering classes require it. It is Windows 7 Ultimate. When I try to use bootcamp to restart in OSX Lion, it fails to load. I get the grey spinning wheel for a long time. When it fails to load, I safe boot. Does not work. Then I load up the CMND+R option and verify/repair disks, and try to restart in OSX. Still nothing. The only way to get it to work is if I restore from a backup, or completely redownload Lion. Does anyone else have this problem? This is the third time in months it has done it to me. I have a Fall 2010 15" MBP with 2.66 i7, 8 GB ram, and Intel HD Graphics card.

Applications :: ITunes Spaces And ReLaunch Options?

Oct 11, 2009

For the past few months, I've been having a few problems with iTunes. This was happening way back in Ver. 8, and since upgrading to iTunes 9, the issue remains. I've also tried re-installing iTunes 9, but no luck.First off, iTunes invokes spaces randomly. Say I'm searching in Safari - Spaces will automatically switch to iTunes, and after switching back - it does it again and again, and then it stops, for about 20 minutes.

MacBook Pro :: Finder Wont Repond Even After Relaunch It

Apr 5, 2012

I recently replaced my cracked screen by myself using the powerbookmedic website. The computer runs successfully, but Finder won't respond when I click it. I've tried relaunching it and after a few seconds all I get is the spinning umbrella. I've tried relaunching over and over, and the furthest I get is that my desktop items will appear, but I can't click them and Finder still won't respond, so I relaunch it again and they disappear. I've tried restarting it over and over during the few seconds after I relaunch Finder. I've tried shutting it down completely and even taking it apart again to see if I missed a plug or anything, and everything is where it is supposed to be. I think I need to reboot, but I need to save my pictures and docs, but I don't know how without using Finder..

OS X :: Can't Change Backgrounds - System Preferences Crashes - Relaunch

Oct 25, 2009

I'm having a strange problem with my MacBook. I'm dual monitoring, and yesterday the screen on my actual MacBook went to the blue apple background instead of the BMW M Coupe I had as the background. Strange, but I didn't really care. Then today, I decide to change the background on the 21". I try and change it once and System Preferences crashes and I relaunch it. Now when I click on a new background it doesn't work and it spikes my CPU a bit. These wallpapers were downloaded off of a forum (downloaded each of them individually) and originally resided on my desktop (icons) but then I moved them to my HD. Thats when the problem started. Is my CPU supposed to spike when my HD is being used (searching for something in finder)?

Software :: Finderis Not Responding To Keyboard - Forcing To Relaunch

Nov 13, 2009

I have a MACbook PRO, 2.6Ghz Intel Core Duo, 4GB SDRAM, with aproximately 4.38GB HD storage space left. Operating Sytem: MAC OS X version 10.5.8

My FINDER is behaving erratically - in that, when I create new folders (which I can do with the mouse and right button) it will not allow me to name the file, as if the computer would not recognise the keyboard. What is weird, is that I then click on a web browser, or any other application and I can type as usual.

I assume it is then a problem with FINDER - which after forcing to relaunch, works fine for a little while, but shortly, the problem comes up again

Having to relaunch finder every 5mins is not my idea of a smoothe operating system.

I'm trying to liberate more space - but it is proving difficult as my main tool in order to back up files is finder.
