When I try to open a folder or click Finder Find File, nothing happens. To get the folder window to display, I must force quit and relaunch Finder. I have just upgraded from Snow leopard to Lion.

I've assigned the tags I want to a file, I'll get the beach ball. If I go into the Force Quit window it will say that Finder is not responding. But if I wait about 20-30 seconds it stops and I can go about my business w/o re-starting the Finder. I only noticed this after installing Yosemite. I use tags A LOT.

Every time I want to shut down my late 2011 MacBook Pro, Mac Mail cancels the shut down & I have to force quit mail. I was having this problem on my old 2008 MacBook before I upgraded to the Pro (but it only started after I upgraded to Lion OSX). So what's wrong w/ Mac Mail? And is there some setting I can change? This is an annoying time suck.Â

When I open the force quit window, it fills my entire screen, and it is larger than the screen of the TFT monitor that I am using from time to time. How can I change its size back to original? The window is not resizable by dragging its border or clicking the green plus button in the title bar. Â
I don't know how the window got this size in the first place. All I know is that it happened during a crash where I closed a lot of other windows and where I accidentially clicked the green plus button of the force quit window instead of the red x.

I have this problem on my new MBA (2012) and mac mini (2011), both running the latest update of LION (10.7.4). Basically, if I am using preview, it shows up on my dock no problem and I can close windows/hide/quite no problem. Usually a while later, a copy of Preview ends up showing up in my FORCE QUIT menu (if I happen to be there), but is not visibly open. (see pic).
Odd that it occurs on both. Only things that are non-apple installed on MBA (and mirror with MM) are:
- MS Office 2k11
- Firefox
- ClamXav virus scanner
- Diablo 3

After a clean OS X install (Snow Lpd updated to Lion) and all system updates, I have imported my old bookmarks (html created by Safari just couple of days back). After import they appear on the left panel as Imported xx.xx.2012.After relaunching Safari 5.1.7, the folder is gone. More than that, Safari won't retain any webpage bookmarked, they would all disappear when I quit (or relaunch) Safari.I have trashed the com.apple. Safari. plist file a few time already and emptied the trash, repaired disk permissions, but problem persists.

Just bought and installed leopard (upgrade on my macbook) and it was working fine for a bit untill i got a bit ambitious and was doing a bit too much while spotlight was indexing, so it froze, i restarted and now finder wontoad propery, i get a dock and a menu bar that is not responsive, and doesnt include any icons up the right end including the time, but the spotlight icon is still there. My desktop icons wont load either. I can load firefox from the dock and that is it. I have terminal in the dock but that just bounces for a bit and crashes. When i cmd-alt-esc and force relaunch finder it doesnt do anything...

But of late, sometimes, accidentally if I press Cmd+Q on a finder window, it quits, and does not relaunch either. So to speak, the Desktop disappears. I have to launch Downloads/Documents from the Dock to start the finder running once again. Doesn't seem Mac like. Something wrong, is it? And I recall this started happening after I ran an update for 10.6.1. It was running fine with 10.6.0

I've tried relaunching it and after a few seconds all I get is the spinning umbrella. I've tried relaunching over and over, and the furthest I get is that my desktop items will appear, but I can't click them and Finder still won't respond, so I relaunch it again and they disappear. I've tried restarting it over and over during the few seconds after I relaunch Finder. I've tried shutting it down completely and even taking it apart again to see if I missed a plug or anything, and everything is where it is supposed to be. I think I need to reboot, but I need to save my pictures and docs, but I don't know how without using Finder..

While online in either Safari or Firefox my cursor as I am navigating a page will suddendly freeze on screen. I them am forced to relaunch finder, then unplug my mouse from the keyboard and once again, relaunch the finder.Then the cursor will move again. Any solutions to this problem guys? I clicked on my Finder and there appears to be an endless amount of Applications tabs open. I've tried restarting my macbook air and relaunching Finder and nothing. When I click on my sidebar, everything opens in a new window despite my preference being set to open in new tabs.

I have been backing up for years using Time Machine (TM) which uses a hard drive connected to my Time Capsule on my network. I use an external drive connected to the Time capsule.Every night, my MBP is scheduled to backup which it has done for years. The last successful backup was 4 days ago. It stopped working and when I tried to click on TM starting manually, it hangs up and freezes Finder. I try to relaunch Finder and it freezes the computer by taking all icons off my desktop. I can use mail and other programs but FINDER will not work. I have used disk utilities to check the drive AND repair permissions.
The only way I can shut down is by holding the on/off button and then restarting. The computer starts up fine and works UNTILL I try to back up to TM again. The whole thing happens again. My O/S is regulary updated and I checked that too.
THere must be something corrupted or screwed up with the TM / Finder links.

I purchased a new IMac Intel version and I am having a problem with AOL. I have always had a problem with AOL and my Macs (now on number 3). In the past, if I left AOL running it would not allow the Macs to close down without Force Quitting from AOL and AOL would not quit normally. With the new Mac, if I use AOL it won't quit and when I Force Quit it disconnects the Mac from the internet and I have to restart. As I live in Antigua both Apple and AOL have been useless at trying to solve the problem.

I wanted to force quit an application on my first gen MacBook running Mac OS X 10.6.3, so I looked up the short cut key command from the Apple menu. I saw that it was option-command-power-button. I pressed these keys, and my Mac instantly displayed a black screen. After about five seconds, my Mac made the usual sounds of starting up. I booted up, and nothing seemed to have been affected, so I double checked Console, which didn't help much. I looked up the short cut key command for force quit online. The Internet says its option-command-esc. I tried the command, and up popped the force quit prompt. So why is the short cut key command WRONG on my Apple menu?

Does any one know of an easy way out without having the restart the machine? I have a 2008 MBP with Leopard 100% up-to-date on the machine. I tried restarting the application directly from the Application folder instead of double clicking on the dock, and I got "An unexpected error occurred (error code -600)" -- according to Apple, error code -600 means: procNotFound - No eligible process with specified process serial number.
