Software :: Maintaining Hyperlinks On PDF Creation?
Jul 19, 2008
When I convert a MS Word document (MS Word 2004 for Mac) to a PDF document, using Adobe Acrobat (v. 8 for Mac), the hyperlinks that were inserted into the Word document are not present in the PDF document (hyperlink text is present, but it is not clickable or colored/underlined as it was in orig. Word document).
Please inform me of any setting in Acrobat or Word that I may need to change to get the hyperlinks to carry over properly during conversion.
I really don't want to go through all of my PDFs that I have created and re-insert hyperlinks manually, as there are TONS of them..!
Currently I keep my time machine backup on an external usb hard drive which is a seagate hd in an enclosure I bought a while ago. I want to maintain a second copy of the time machine back up.
Is it better to buy an external RAID enclosure, put the current drive in there, get another drive, and then just have time machine backup to that drive?
Or should I just get another enclosure and another drive? If I do it this way, can I automate the time machine backups across two drives in any way, or I have to manually run it twice?
Any way I can encode video on my 13" 2011 MBP without maintaining a CPU temp of 92 degrees? Ideally I would use iVI with some sort of CPU limit but that route seems pretty dodgy so is there any lightweight encoding software that I can keep running all night without worrying about wearing out my precious mac?

PlI plug in my iPhone to my Mac to sync. While in iTunes, I select my iPhone in the side bar and then I select Apps. Once in Apps, I organize my apps into tidy folders. For example, I put all of my airline apps into the same "Travel" folder. I do this to prevent having pages and pages of apps. After doing that, I press the "Sync" button to save the changes to the iPhone. The changes seem to stick. No problem.
I look on my iPhone and the changes are made. I unplug my iPhone and the changes are still there. However, when I plug in my iPhone to sync the following day, all of the apps are unorganized again. This has happened repeatedly for weeks. Not sure why. Some previous organizational changes I've made are OK. It seems the iPhone simply will not allow me to organize the last 7-10 apps I've added to my phone.
I reformat my mac every now and then. It's probably not great for my hard drive, but what can you do?I like the "clean" feel of a fresh OS install...
Most of my media, though, is on an external hard drive. Whenever I reformat, I have to re-rank my songs. Is there a way I can save the ranking of my songs?
does anybody know how I could export my manually ordered photos from an iPhoto album in a way that would make the output files have names like 1.jpg, 2.jpg... instead of the original ones, so my friends could see them in correct order when just viewing them in Windows Explorer?
I have iTunes set to rip at lossless, which is fine, as I am willing to add terabytes of storage to my library if necessary. I have a 120 gig classic, I don't mind the fact that I can fit less songs in a higher quality bitrate on this device. I also just got a 8 gig nano, and I would like to upload everything onto it in 128 instead of lossless. I don't want to convery my who library as I would prefer to preserve it is lossless.
I have a folder full of mp3 files that are organized in the way that I defined. I'd like to import to iTunes maintaining the same organization. I thought about creating Playlist folders using the same structure of my files. Is there some way of creating this?
I recently switched to Mac and noticed that the hyperlink button is no longer present in AIM. I prefer to rename links rather than post the often lengthy urls in messages and buddy info. I tried to get around the absence of the hyperlink button by manually inserting the HTML to create a link but this does not work either.
It seems strange that this feature is not supported. Can anyone explain a way to rename links in AIM on a Mac that I am unaware of or is it actually not possible?
I have a few questions which I know Adobe Acrobat Pro can accomplish simply, although ideally I don't wish to spend hundreds of pounds on the software.
I have created an online brochure in PDF format and I wish to insert hyperlinks within the PDF to various sections of the brochures website. As I say, Acrobat Pro can do this simply as I've used it before although I was wondering if there is any other PDF software capable of doing such a task?
My second question is regarding allowing PDF commenting. It seems when I create the PDF (From InDesign), commenting is disabled. Can I not create the PDF from InDesign with commenting allowed?
This seems like a stupid question but someone is asking me and off the top of my head I can't seem to replicate the solution. If someone is typing in their yahoo or other email account and they type in www.cnn.com for example..how do you automatically set up OSX or the specific yahoo/email acct to underline/hyperlink that address so recipients simply click on that link in the email.
I have created a second user with administrative privileges. Doing so I had to restart my computer. After initial restart the login page loaded showing original and new user but it is dead. I can't log in any of the acount nor to restart - had to turn off the computer. For what its worth here are some thins i did later but so far with no solution.
1. I have tried to entr via secure startup but it got to the same dead page.
2. I have strated the compute from a backup disk with hope of repairing things from there but I have no idea what or how to do it.
If I try to delete hyperlinks from my Bookmarks, either with the Delete button or with mouse, all i get is the 'rainbow pinwheel' and 'not responding' message. never happened before.
How do I prevent Pages from automatically making a web address into a "live" hyper link? Also, how do I make a hyperlink in an existing document not "live
Most of my company is PC based, but we artists are Mac based. We all work on the same Excel file, updating, saving, replacing. When we open the PC excel file on our Macs, none of the hyperlinks work ... then if we save something to the file, when the PC guys open the file, none of the hyperlinks work for them anymore either. We really want to be able to use Excel and not have to use VMware in order to update our file on the Mac. Any thoughts??
I can't seem to find a way to alter the creation date of a file. I have a project and mid-way through I copied everything into a new file to test something out. It's in a different format so it's impossible to simply port it back to the original file.
I'm having a wierd problem with my macbook (os x leopard). It seems like all information about when the file was created / modified is set to a certain time, 19:08. Every file on the computer says this time (the date is correct), even newly creted files and systemfiles. This creates some problem with itunes (newly added songs will not appear until that time in smart playlists etc) and apps like evernote.Does anyone got an idea what this might be?
Why don't hyperlinks show in Calendar meetings? These are generated from Company Google Calendar (Google Apps) and show up in Outlook. I would like to click on the webex link to attend a meeting.
Using the Finder in 10.5.8, pressing Cmd-F to get to the Search window. I want to look for jpeg files created during December of 2008. I first specify file type = image, press the + to add another constraint, choose "creation date before" . . . today's date comes up by default, with little up/down arrows at the right to allow changes. Well, the arrows do nothing, and I can't edit the date string directly. The only change I'm able to make is when holding down the Alt key, which allows me to use the little up/down arrows to cycle through the months (but not days or years).
I want to create some tutorials for my software class. I remember seeing some software for the mac that is excellent for the job. I can't remember what the name of the software is.
The software is as follows:
- You take some screenshots of various stages of using the software
Okay, so I'm setting up my website and it's quite a bit like the Apple site. I set up links to my other pages from each page, but when I check "activate hyperlinks" and then click one, I always go back to the main page (The Psywave Corporation). What am I doing wrong, if anything, formatting-wise? How can I fix this?
does anyone know how to paste some text copied from the internet (specifically wikipedia) into a Pages '09 document without the hyperlinks. Or even pasting unformatted - as to mimic the 'edit, paste special' feature of MS Word.
Or if this is not possible, as so far I have found, is there a feature to remove all hyperlinks in a document, without having to click each individual one and turn it off in inspector
I'm about to sell an older Mac, and my buyer asked if I could install Snow Leopard and iLife for him, as well as update the machine. Of course it's easy to do this, but this will leave him with a user account he didn't configure himself. I was wondering how to update the mac and install the software and then reset it so that when he first boots it up he does get the intro movie and the user creation process? I found this guide, but it's referring to iBooks so it's pretty old, can anybody confirm it still works for Snow Leopard? [URL]
How do I get Preview to display hyperlinks in a PDF document? I need to download a manual. When I click on the link in Safari, it only downloads the Table of Contents (1 p., 29KB). There are hyperlinks for each of the other 16 sections, but when I click on them, nothing happens, nothing further downloads, etc. How do I access the other sections?
I have been working on a Pages document with a automatically generated TOC, and I would like to have hyperlinks between the contents and the document. I know that clicking on the page number will work, but I would like to click on the actual Titles on the TOC... is this possible?
