MobileMe / IWeb :: Personal Domain And Web Forwarding - Don't Get Transferred - Error Page
Dec 14, 2009My personal domain is [URL]- it was bought through Easily [URL] and is still managed by them. I transferred the hosting to MobileMe, however, by creating the relevant CNAME entry, so in my DNS management area for this domain over at Easily the entries look as follows [URL] There are two name servers set up : [URL] The personal domain is set up in MobileMe fine, and I can create sites in iWeb and upload them with no issues. My second domain is [URL] which I bought through Easily, and which is simply set to use framed web forwarding to redirect to [URL] - that's one of the sites that I've created in iWeb and is hosted by MobileMe. When I visit [URL]I get no issues whatsoever - the masked forwarding works fine, so the address bar always reads [URL] no matter which page I'm on. However I've been told by a couple of people that they don't get transferred to it - instead they get not a MobileMe error page, but an Easily error page. it's as though the web forwarding works for some visitors but not for others, but I'm not sure why. Anyone got any thoughts? Is it happening for anyone else?

Aug 31, 2010I was able to access this specific website for months using my mac - both on firefox and safari.
Recently, it won't let me sign it. It just loads for 5 minutes or so then gives me a network timeout error. However, I am able to access the site on internet explorer using my PC.
OS X :: Error Message - Can't Modify My Network Settings
Nov 26, 2008Somehow, recently a new error message has popped up that won't go away no matter how many times I click "OK." That means I can't modify my network settings.
Things I've tried:
1) Clear error logs with Onyx
2) Throw away com.apple.networkConfig.plist
3) Repaired permissions
4) fsck -fy

OS X Mavericks :: Error When Printing On Network Printer
Jun 27, 2014I am trying to connect to a windows network printer through my MacBook Air. I can connect to the printer via the windows network and can send documents to print. The document goes through to print but at the last second it says there is an error. When looking on the network windows computer, in which the printer is installed, I can see the document has gone through to print using the printer dialogue box for microsoft, but it details there is an error and the document doesn't print.
It seems that they are connected but there is still an error.Both Windows and Mac computers are up to date currently and the printer is a HP Deskjet F4180.
OS X :: System Preferences - Error In Network Preference Window?
Nov 16, 2008Something has happened in my Network preferences and I believe it happened while doing a Spotlight search. When I open the Network preference window, I get an almost instant error dialogue stating "Your Network settings have been changed by another application". As soon as I hit "OK" to dismiss the dialogue box, it comes right back. If I'm really quick, I can get back to the main preferences screen before the warning reappears. I've tried logging out, rebooting, trashing the Library --> Preferences --> apple.networkConfig.plist file (followed by a log-out) and nothing has made a difference.

Sep 4, 2010Over the last couple of months, I sometimes get an error when using the iTunes Store: "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection was reset. Make sure your network connection is active and try again." It seems happen at random. I click to download an app and I get the message. I click again and it works. Sometimes I'm browsing the store and everything's fine, then I start getting the message over and over for a while.
I tried rebuilding my home network, updating airport software, everything I could think of on my end. Is this a problem on Apple's servers? Do a lot of other people have this problem? I haven't had much luck finding answers on this site or searching Google. I use an Airport Extreme, I have Time Warner Cable internet. I have no other internet connection issues.

Jan 23, 2010I recently bought a used apple ibook with the Mac OS 9.2 operating system on it. So far it seems to be working pretty well. It has an ethernet port, and I have AT&T Uverse at home. So I decided I wanted to get on the internet, so I plugged the ethernet cord into the port, and called AT&T to help me through the "internet setup assistant" So we went through the whole process, then I went onto Sherlock 2 and tried to access the internet, and the error message: "A network error has occurred. Check your internet connections and settings, then try again." which is exactly what it says when it is not hooked into the internet at all.
The guy at AT&T basically said that they were not familiar with the operating system that I am on, and transferred me to tech support that wanted to charge me $175 to help me get connected to the internet. It seemed to me that AT&T just didn't know what they were doing at all, and they could get a replica screen to mine so they didn't know what to tell me. The asked me if there was any way to test the internet connection and I didn't know b/c I am accustomed to windows vista. Does anyone know if I am supposed to do anything else or how to test the connection?
Software :: Error Joining Airport Network With Secure Option
Apr 7, 2006I am using a Ibook G4 with Mac OS 10.4.3 Tiger with up to date upgrades. I have been facing this problem for a month now and I have tried every possible option. It was working very fine until then for past 5 months. Problem: "There was an error joining the airport network". The problem comes only when I make my network secure. If I make it open, it works fine. I don't want to keep my network open and unsecure, so the problem keeps bothering me.
Things I have tried.
1. I have tried removing all the old passwords in the keychain and deleting all the previous networks it remembered. no difference, same error.
2. I have tried several other things suggested in different forums and articles, nothing really gave any results.
3. I finally got my OS reloaded with erase and Install option.. still the same error message comes. I have my Interferece robustness on and other PC computer connected to the same network works fine. I have even tried changing the router from Netgear to Linksys, nothing really worked.

May 26, 2012I recently added a G-Speed Q RAID array to my MAC PRO to use exclusively for back-up with Time Machine.It worked great.I then decided to also share the external device over hardwire lan with my wife's iMAC so whe could back-up with Time MAchine as well.I then started reading posts that suggested the two Time Machine instances would compete for space on the back-up array and eventually it would fill up a I'd have problems. The solution, everyone said, was to partition the external drive and assign one to each Time Machine back-up.I did this and everything seemed to be working great until the remote client tried to run back-up.
It fails with the "Disk does not support AFP features" error message.Current status, local machine back-up works fine. Remote machine cand find the drive and connect once I provide correct user name and password, but fails once back-up begins.Both machines are running Lion 10.7.4.

OS X :: Migrate Assistant Interrupted / "network Failure" Error Prompt
Dec 1, 2010I'm new to mac and just got a new MBP. When I tried to transfer data from my iMac to it, the migrate assistant got interrupted by a network problem. After I fixed the network, the transfer just cannot be resumed: I hit the "continue" button a couple of times, and it always gave me the same "network failure" error prompt.
And it doesn't allow me to do any work during the long migration. I wonder if there are other easy way of transferring data. I know I can use FTP or SFTP, but just want to make sure if the frustration I had with migration assistant was not a misuse on my part.

Dec 3, 2010I have been given an iMac g3 with osx 10.4.11 installed and airport card. My son will have this as his first computer. It is up and running and surfing the net using the airport connected to our home network. I have searched the forums and tried all the results I could find but am still unable to print from the iMac to my network printer.
iMac G3 10.4.11 osx slot loaded, airport wireless. Officejet all in one 6310 usb to pc running Vista. I have tried all the usual SAMBA and LPD methods listed going for generic printer, but get error 256 using printer utility, and NT_status_no_memory when using samba with all the settings, when trying LPD the printer service just stops.
I use LPD://user:password@workgroup/server/sharename and same for smb. I have set up a seperate account for the mac on the vista pc with password and started lpd service I've also edited the registry for lmcompatibility, printer sharing is enabled and both machines have the same workgroup name (WORKGROUP).

Dec 21, 2006on setting up an OD master to accept kerberos from a AD domain and I can't get AFP to work.
What I've done:
1. Bind OD Master to AD
2. Destroyed the OD Kerberos realm
3. Ran sudo dsconfigad -enableSSO
When I log into a client that is bond to both AD and OD and try to access a SMB share on the AD side it works. When I try to access a SMB share on the OD master it work. When I try to access a AFP share on the OD Master it fails with the error " The user Authentication Method required by this server can't be found". Now I think this error is because I'm forcing Kerberos authentication, if I change AFP setting to any method authentication I get promoted with the AFP login window, I enter my AD account information and I'm able to mount the share.
Software :: OS X Clients Cannot Log Into AD Domain
Jan 27, 2010Students cannot log in to AD system from Mac clients Clients were functioning okay. I discovered some file permission problems. Some student folders were receiving inherited permissions allowing other students access to other students' folders. I corrected the permissions. The student folders are located here: \SERVERstudentsgradyearstudent name. Students have transverse folder permissions to students and grad year. Students have modify permissions to their own folder. Windows clients work. Mac clients, where the student has logged in before, appear to be logging in, but then fail, returning to a login screen. If the student has never logged into that Mac before they are shook off. It appears that the permissions required for the Macs to write to the student folders are now incorrect. But I cannot find information on how permissions should be set for home folders residing on a Windows server. Also, I am fairly new at OS X administration (3 months) and have not discovered what log files to view to analyze the problem.

Nov 4, 2010I have a new 27" i7 iMac with OSX 10.6.4 and need to connect it to our work place network that runs a Windows 2003 Domain Controller etc. I've never touch an Apple/iMac before and I don't know much of anything about them. I'll tell you this much, I LIKE THIS MACHINE! WOW! I really like it! So I'm pretty sure I have it on the network... maybe. But the biggest problem I have is when I log on as the user (and it indicates "Network" under the user name), I can see the network resources, the user folder is available down on the Dock but when I make changes to the Desktop, Dock etc. they don't save when I log out and log back in. So I hope someone here can help point me in the right direction. I have done a lot of Google and other forum search but I'm not really finding my answer.

Dec 30, 2010i have a machine in a workgroup called 21. the machine name is icey.i have a domain called avery. i am able to access files on the domain from icey but when i try to connect to a printer it says i dont have sufficient access. the printer in question is a resource on a machine called marble. and the printer itself is called new_printer and yes its being shared. actually i cannot connect to any printers on the domain from icey.
everyone on the domain can access the all printers however no one from 21 can connect to it. it was necessary for me to build 21 but it is still important for 21 to be able to use avery resources. is there any way i can get this to connect?

I need to run some program that uses the domain name for the license.
When I checked System Preferences > Sharing > Remote login on,
There is a message saying "To log in to this computer remotely type "ssh name@xxx.XXXXXX.XX".
Now, in order to my program to run, I need to change the characters in capital letters (from the domain name) to lowercase. ie. I would like to see a message of the sort "To log in to this computer remotely type
"ssh name@xxx.xxxxx.xx".
Is this possible? How can I change the domain name?

Sep 18, 2009I have just bought a personal domain through godaddy - [URL]- to use with my almost complete mobileme site. With Safari everything seems to be fine - type in the domain with or without the 'www' and you arrive at the right place. But with every other browser I've tried (Chrome, Firefox, Flock and Camino) only [URL] version works. Enter the url without the www and you end up at [URL] could someone let me know what I've done wrong? I've tried clearing the cache in all the browsers but that's had no effect.

OS X :: Matching User Account And Domain Name
Nov 20, 2009I created my account username om my Mac ( OSX 10.6.2 ) long before I created my website. If we take it that my user account name happens to be 'myname' and my website happens to be [URL]. I hadn't noticed it was a problem until the other day. I changed the site base ref to work from [URL] away from {URL]. The problem is on my Mac, the address [URL] is referring to the local web server, ie pre installed Apache and library/webserver/documents not the actual web address. If Web server is switched off via the sharing control panels - the address returns a google not found page? which seems very odd.
It will also do this from any user account - identical results, so I know the Mac has reserved the name in some way. I don't want to rename my user account. I cant see my own website on my Mac which is very frustrating, as my website root is forcing all traffic to [URL] ( which is what I want of course ) and not [URL]. I have to use Parallels with a version of Windows to see the site properly.

Nov 30, 2006I'm running server 10.4.8, how do I authenticate NT domain users on this? I tried to set the server to be a Backup Domain Controller, but then it wants Open Directory to be in replica mode. The problem there is that it needs an Open Directory server to replicate.
