Applications :: Importing Firefox Bookmarks From External HDD
Mar 3, 2010
I recently had to erase my HDD, and I was wondering how to import my firefox bookmarks from my external HDD. I have my HDD backed up onto a external hard-drive. I needed help finding the bookmark Files and import them into FireFox.
I can't right click my bookmarks, especially RSS feeds that appear as a drop-down menu (on the toolbar). I tried to right click on one RSS feed so I can open it in a new tab but there's no right click menu.
I made a clone of my HDD before doing a clean install of the 10.6.3. I am trying to locate the bookmarks.html in the cloned HDD to restore the bookmarks to Firefox, but no luck. Does anyone know where exactly the bookmarks are stored for firefox?
I just updated my mozilla firefox to the new version and it deleted all of my bookmarks. I didn't think it was a big deal because I could just re add them. When I restarted the application after re adding all of them they just deleted again. I deleted firefox and re downloaded it but it still keeps deleting my bookmarks when I restart it.
I sync my Safari bookmarks between machines via MobileMe. Works pretty well. But I was wondering - is there a way I can make FireFox use my Safari bookmarks, so that they benefit from the sync as well?
I am a new Mac user and am attemptiong to import clip art from the Microsoft Website (via Firefox).Evidently, you need to associate the file type ".cll" with the browser in order for it to open and allow it to be read in the Office application. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do this. The online help topic (from M$) doesn't mention Firefox, but gives instruction for IE and Netscape. The Netscape instructions are below, but I cant figure out if this is something I can do with Firefox...
======= To configure Netscape Navigator to open clips on Mac OS X
1. Start Netscape Navigator version 6.0 or later. 2. On the Netscape menu, click Preferences. 3. Click Navigator, and then click Helper Applications. 4. Click New Type, and then type the following information:
Description of type: Clip Art and Media File File extension: .cil MIME Type: application/vnd.ms-artgalry 5. Click Choose and browse for the Microsoft Clip Gallery program, usually located in the Office folder under your Microsoft Office installation folder. Click Open, and then click OK. 6. In the Preferences dialog box, click OK. 7. Close Netscape Navigator, and then restart it.
I have Firefox 3.5.3 running on PowerPc iMac with OS 10.4.11. When I search for a bookmark in "Organize Bookmarks" window, the found bookmark shows as 'location" the web address. However, it does not show the location of this bookmark in my bookmark tree. So I really can not find where this bookmark is located which was my problem in the first place. If this bookmark was misplaced in one of the folders I can not find it to move to the right spot. Is there any way to find the real location of this bookmark with the search and in any other way?
So I backed up my Opera Bookmarks rigorously in case the Mac died. Well it died. And since I'm using a WinXP machine for the time being I'd like to bring those bookmarks over to the PC. The problem is they are in a .hqx format and I don't know how to extrat it. I tried WinRAR and 7zip without success. Of course I realize now I should have saved them as a HTML file... Then I think I could have brought them over with no issues. Please confirm if possible. And if you have any ideas (both my Macs are dead for the time being) on the bookmark thing, please let me know. All the other files are ok - text files have some glitches but most are fine. The ones with glitches have to be resaved in RTF format. If course the least important (.avi) play perfectly!
like many others I've been using FireFox the past year, but now I want to migrate back to Safari 4. With all my bookmarks that are now in Firefox, of course! Safari 4 has got an import feature. But what kind of file does it want? In any case I haven't a clue how to export my bookmarks from FireFox into any particular file. Do you?
The only thing I could think of to do was go into FF's Bookmarks edit mode and copy/paste the bookmarks menu into an .rtf and an .html file. But that bombed: Safari 4's import wanted neither.
How do I backup my bookmarks from Firefox on my desktop gaming pc? I want to be able to transfer them to Firefox on OSX, and then bootcamp with XP Pro 64bit to. I just don't know how to save them, I know how to in IE though. Have to find a hidden folder? Last time I reformatted, I saved the entire firefox folder. But that didn't help when I reformatted, so that let me to thinking it was a hidden folder.
Newbie question here, is there anyway that I pages I bookmark in Safari can be also bookmarked in Firefox on the same mac? Or is there an easy way to transfer/synch them? At times I use Safari and at other times I use FF.
I'm using Firefox 3 with Mac OSX Leopard. Whenever I bookmark a page, the correct information is in the proper forms. When I click on a bookmark, however, it redirects me to a random page taken from my recent activity. How do I keep the bookmarks from changing once I create them?
My existing Firefox software is corrupt and I am unable to get my bookmarks from my Time Machine. I either need to find out how to get them out of my Time Machine or import them into Safari.
