View 1 RepliesMy iPhoto has not been responding for a couple weeks. I was able to find my photos under recent pictures and I have them saved in a folder. Yesterday I installed snow leopard and today lion so I can get iCloud. iPhoto is still not responding. I'm not the one who usually does the computer stuff.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust as I was saving a normal word document to my usb stick, word froze. This has happened before, so I tried force quitting it. This took a lot longer than normal, and the coloured beach ball kept on spinning. I tried relaunching the Finder, but nothing changed. Then I tried restarting the computer, got my inlog screen and logged on, but then I only got the icons in the dock below and no bar at the top of my screen. All my icons on the desktop have vanished too.
Horrified, I tried re-opening word, but no success. I can still open Safari, and iPhoto opened up, showed my pics but then said it wasn't responding either.
In my pop up window 'Force Quit Applications', the Finder is in red letters, with 'not responding' in brackets. IPhoto was in red too.
I work with Mac OS 10.3.9 (one month away from buying a brand new MacBook) and I have absolutely no idea what to do. Also, I'm not technical at all, so I really could do with a 'for dummies' answer, clearly indicating what to do and what NOT to do next.
My iphoto stopped working a little while ago, it wouldn't open. I would press the icon and it would jump, but nothing would happen. So I tried copying one from someone elses mac, same thing. it is there, all my photos are there but it will not open. So I found my discs and I reinstalled the programs, all the other ilife programs were and are still fine after the reinstall, but then again iphoto is not working. Just jumps when I click it and does not respond. I found a thread on here about a similar problem, so I followed the instructions and repaired the disc and then went to look for com.apple.iphoto.plist to trash it and its not there. I really am at a loss I don't know what to do short of reinstalling my entire operating system.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just imported some pictures from my portable HDD, but the MBP got frozen in the process so I had to do it again. Now I have all my pictures imported and i'm happy with it. The problem is that every time I open iPhoto, it shows me this window: I tried importing them, but the only thing that appears is a "Recovered photo album" on the left column in the iPhoto, and it's empty. I tried finding the files in order to delete them, but couldn't find them in the directory (/users/id/pictures/iphoto/recovered...). Is this folder invisible? If so, how can I "see" invisible folders?

I have pictures that are in the incorrect "Events." Since iPhoto '11 auto-creates Events based on the time period the photos were taken, it is inevitable to get some into an Event you don't want them in. I might take 15 pictures in the morning of the sunrise, then take some pictures at the baseball game, and then another of something that catches my eye sometime during the day, and then some more photos at sunset.
I want the sunrise/sunset/sky pics in one event, the ball game in another, and the solo picture in no event, or an event called "Misc." If iPhoto '11 lumps them all into one Sunrise Event, how do I go about separating them out?
I'm doing a picture book for the first time. All has been going well until I found some pictures that are in my library, but do not show up in the picture bar when adding pictures to the photobook. Seems that they just stop at a certain point almost like I've filled a capacity of some kind.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI usually keep my pictures organized myself, but using a Mac for a little over a year I decided to give iPhoto a try. I added all my photos, then I thought I'd check out faces. On the faces welcome screen there is a picture of a girl and a boy. The girl is labeled "Lisa". When I first saw this I thought no way is that Steve Job's daughter, but after a quick Google search I thought again. I have an actual picture of Lisa Jobs and the picture of "Lisa" from the faces welcome screen below. What do you think?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had my Macbook Pro for only about 2 months, and I'm relatively new to this Apple world. I've had no problems with using iPhoto and uploading photos to other websites... UNTIL last night! I downloaded Picasa for Mac (I've been trying to find a good photo sharing website that doesn't cost me money. I use gmail, so this seemed reasonable.)... and I swear, something has happened. I'm fairly certain it is connected with downloading the Picasa plug-in.
I have searched high and low in every corner of this Macbook, and my picture FOLDERS are nowhere to be found. My photos are still in iPhoto, and the APPLICATION shows up in my Pictures folder, but no folders with the photos themselves. Does that make sense? The photos are in iPhoto, but not stored in any folders anywhere on the computer. This is rather distressing. Has anyone heard of this happening before??? Or does anyone have any advice for me??? I can't share any of my photos anymore until I find a way to fix this! I keep trying to upload photos, but they are nowhere to be found when I do so!
i have been using iphoto to export picture to facebook for about a year now. i recently went on vacation and uploaded about 4,000 pictures. now, iphoto keeps crashing every time i try to use the facebook exporter. i switched to my sister's account on this mac and her iphoto exports pictures to facebook perfectly. i don't know why mine doesn't.

I have a fairly big photo library in iphoto 09 and I am wondering if there is an option to save information like location, description, date etc to the actual picture file. The reason I ask is because when I went to export some pictures it didnt save any of this information whatsoever and with 4000 photos thats a lot of work to go add all that information back to. Anyone else have experience with this?

When I log into iPhoto I now get this message:
"There is a problem accessing one or more files in your iPhoto library. Do you want iPhoto to repair permissions for this library for you?" and it gives me the following options "quite" or repair"
Thought I'd start this thread for people to discover/add any info they have on what iPhoto Faces is doing behind the scenes to help with troubleshooting, since Apple doesn't have any preferences for Faces in the iPhoto GUI. This is only for people who like to understand what is happening behind the scenes. Please note this is not for everyone and anytime you do anything to your iPhoto library you risk corruption and should have a backup copy. What I've noticed so far:
- iPhoto scans the library the first time it opens, and creates 2 faces .db files with the iPhoto Library:
face_blob.db
face.db
- iPhoto creates Faces thumbnails files and places them in the iPhoto Library/Data folder along with the other thumbnails it creates................
Me and my sister are looking for a way to swap files, between our Macs, over the Net.
I have no idea about FTP or Transmit and I'm not sure what our best method or app should be?
We're both running OS X- I'm on Snow Leopard, she's on Leopard*
My sister has two boys and a little girl. Shortly after buying our respective Macs, I bought an HD camcorder and my sister bought a very good DSLR. So I have lots of HD videos made with iMovie for her and she has tons of pics to send me. We both have our own back-ups of course but neither is proof against fire or theft to be honest. I know we could swap them on a large USB stick or a portable drive but we don't always see each other and she's very busy.
No matter what type of file (.avi or .mp4) I try to open, QT immediately goes to "Not Responding"... Software is completely up to date. I don't know what else to do... It won't let me trash QT to re-install but I think that's what I need to do.

So the new iPhoto '11 brings new features and enhancements to Facebook, but it doesn't say if it supports the new "HD" picture uploads facebook just added a few days ago. So, any of you first buyers could check that out please Ps: yes I did search, and apple.com doesn't say anything about that either. Oh and btw I can't check myself since I live in Chile and everything takes like a century to arrive down here, damn you apple lol

I have recently found some floppy disks with artwork files on that I created many years ago on an Amiga computer. Thing is most of these files have the .IFF extension.
Does anybody know an a program or a way to either view these files or covert them to .JPEG so that I can see them on my Mac ?
