View 3 Repliesi have been using iphoto to export picture to facebook for about a year now. i recently went on vacation and uploaded about 4,000 pictures. now, iphoto keeps crashing every time i try to use the facebook exporter. i switched to my sister's account on this mac and her iphoto exports pictures to facebook perfectly. i don't know why mine doesn't.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI imported my pictures to aperture, and in the project window, I have one "lump" of 4000 pictures. They ARE separated by folders and albums (and subfolders), but in the finder, they are just one lump of files. How do I get the files (in the finder) back to a folder structure?!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am suddenly getting a "The export operation failed to create # of files...." This is happening when I try to export to the Mac HD (Retina 13MBP)
If I export to desktop, I am ok. I have run disc utils verified disc and fixed permissions on the drive...as welll as the permissions on the Ap library, and a rebuild.
I can also export to a connected thunderbolt. It seems to only be the HD and it happens with differet export settings.

I'm using Aperture 3.6 to create and then export a slideshow to 1080p. When playing back the exported .MOV file, some pictures have randomly disappeared leaving a black background and I've exported to a reduced 720p with random pictures still missing. If the slideshow is previewed in Aperture, all the pictures are OK and none are missing and I get the same export problems using iPhoto to export the slideshows.

I have a 25K Aperture library that I've transferred from computer to computer over the years. Lately I have notice that a few picture have changed dating. When I try to correct the date I get a splash screen saying that I can't continue because the picture is locked or I don't have permission.

I would like to take a picture from my library and send it as an attachment in a email. The only way it seems to be able to be sent is by embedding it in the letter.

I want to export them with my iPad.
is there a free program to do this ?
Is there any way to save the slideshows from iPhoto 09 into a video format (.mov,.mp4 etc.) I think the new slideshows are brilliant and I would like to use them within keynote presentations but don't want to keep going in and out of presentation mode in keynote to click 'play slideshow' in iphoto and back again into the presentation
View 1 Replies View RelatedApparently, the iPhoto Facebook export tool (built into iPhoto '09) uses the image title for the Facebook caption rather than the description of the photo.
Is there anyway to change this?
I just updated to iPhoto '11 version 9.3 so I could import my AVCHD videos. Everything went fine on the iPhoto side. However, when I call up the captured clips in Quicktime, I can't export them. The export options are grayed out. The entire Share menu is grayed out. None of the movies show up in iMovie under the iPhoto Videos either. (Don't know if that's related.) This is a real problem because my camera shots 1080i and I have to deinterlace them. Doing so with Quicktime is the easiest way to both deinterlace them and get them into iTunes all in one step. I am running iLife 11 with the latest iPhoto 9.1.1
I try to import it to Aperture 3.0
However it will not import as Aperture says I am running an iPhoto earlier than 7.1.5
This is not true my software is all up to date.
How can I import all my photos?
Nope still no joy I will just have to import pictures as I need to work on them, no big deal really.
I use iPhoto to import CR2 files from an EOS. So far, everything worked great and all my current raw-photos in the iPhoto library are presented without problems. After installing Photoshop CS4, nothing worked, neither in Preview.app nor in iPhoto.app or Aperture.app, they don't support opening raw-files anymore. Ok, IPhoto shows the former imported ones but when I try to import new photos from Cam or Disk, there is the following message: "The following file could not be imported. (The file is in an unrecognized format.)". I even reinstalled iPhoto and Aperture, that maybe the raw driver are refreshed or settings corrected, but nothing happened.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just purchased my first DSLR camera, a Canon 550D with a 18-55 IS and a 70-200 F4 IS USM. I bought Aperture to manage those pictures, and was wondering what to do with iPhoto.
Currently, I use iPhoto for all my photos, and have a sync with my iPhone.
I would like to know how you use Aperture and iPhoto on the same computer.
- should I put everything on Aperture, what would I lose if I do that ?
- should I keep iPhoto for my casual pictures (taken with my Panasonic FX-55), and Aperture for the photos taken with my DSLR camera ?
- if I import the iPhoto pics into Aperture, what should I copy them all on Aperture, should I just use the iPhoto database, or should I delete the iPhoto database after I import everything on Aperture ?

I had a iMac 24" be for they broke in my HOUSE! So i was thinking that this would be a upgrade. I've burned over 12 disc now and none of them will play. So this iMac 27" OS X 10.9.4 has wasted my TIME & MONEY. I'm just trying to make a slideshow from iPhoto export with music to a DVD, and when i put in my player all i get is UNKNOWN DISC. Keep me in mind, i may be selling THIS ONE.

I bought a new Retina Macbook & have over 10 years of photos that I DO NOT want to bring into my new computer.
I want to transfer them to an external storage drive (Lacie Rugged Thunderbolt).
Prior to Yosemite, I could go into iPhoto from the left column of finder window and transfer.
One of the crappiest things I don't like about New iPhoto is that it's so difficult to export the photos. It feels like Apple thinks they own them. Pulling my music off was much easier.
Finder no longer gives me the iPhoto option anymore. The PHOTOS Folder only shows photos that came in from a camera or other source.
Photo Stream can't do it as it's just a storage drive. My photos are set up to go from photo stream right into my Macbook so they have to be somewhere on my hard drive.

I am using the 30 day Demo version of Aperture3 (awaiting the arrival of my ordered copy). Apple claims it to be "fully functional for 30 days, and I believe them, so I don't think (but can't rule out) that this is the source of my issue. I have imported my iPhoto Library (approx 20GB), not by reference, but actually copied the photos into the Aperture Library (as evidenced by the fact that it's physical size is approx 32GB). After that I did about a days work setting up faces and places for my many projects before I discovered the following: When I look at the metadata (General Category) for any photo, it shows my project source as being in my iPhoto library; not as I expected in the aperture library. I was hoping 1) to be able to trash the iPhoto library after the import & 2) not lose the day's work I put into places and faces. One more note, iPhoto (as expected) does not see these changes. Any ideas how to change the reference to the aperture library, is it possible that after applying a new serial number(when my paid copy of aperture arrives) that this will rectify itself? One more note; in the preferences (general tab) the library is correctly referenced as the Aperture3 library.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using the latest version of Aperture and merging multiple iPhoto and Aperture libraries into 1. This new feature works great. However, now I have an library_name.aperture file that ultimately, I am only going work with from iPhoto.
iPhoto opens this fine however, I was wondering about the naming convention. After I merge everything in Aperture, can I move the library and change the name to library_name".photolibrary"?
I have just tried to import from the card reader on my iMac some RAW images and it comes up with an error message saying it cannot read the format or the files are corrupt how can that be I thought iPhoto could deal with RAW images. I am using a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ72 bridge camera.

I just imported some pictures from my portable HDD, but the MBP got frozen in the process so I had to do it again. Now I have all my pictures imported and i'm happy with it. The problem is that every time I open iPhoto, it shows me this window: I tried importing them, but the only thing that appears is a "Recovered photo album" on the left column in the iPhoto, and it's empty. I tried finding the files in order to delete them, but couldn't find them in the directory (/users/id/pictures/iphoto/recovered...). Is this folder invisible? If so, how can I "see" invisible folders?
