As of last night, my @mac.com address no longer works. @me.com is fine, but I can't get mail to my address @mac.com.
I chatted with an Apple support rep who said that they are turning off all routing of mac.com addresses as of December 31. It would be nice if someone told me there was a deadline. I have a lot of places/accounts where I never switched over to me.com and now I have to scramble to do so.
Using a G4 IBOOK with OS 10.5.8. Recently converted IBOOK from just my wifes computer to both of us so it is now dual usuage with both of us signing in to our respective files/e-mail, etc. My side has a problem never experienced before. My apple mail system address book has all the names the dock address book does but is missing almost 2/3rd of the actual e-mail addressess. I have tried to redo the dock address book in hopes it would change the "internal" mail book, but to no avail. It id difficult to add a recipient to an outgoing e-mail via the dock address instead of the apple mail address book.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is probably a stupid question, but why isn't there an address contact button that you can click on in a new message from MAIL? Am I missing something here? In all previous versions of the OS one could just do that and a list of contacts popped up and then you could click on one and it would go to the "To" slot. There's got to be an easier way than to open the contact book, find an address, copy it, then place it in the message "To" slot.

This weekend I upgraded to 10.7.3 on my Quad-Core Intel Xeon. Add updates installed.When I open a new e-mail message window in Mail and start typing an address, the address does not auto-fill from either previous recipients or my address book. does anybody know how i can delete old addresses in my mac mail. for instance, when i type a name in the "to:" box i get a row of names appearing from which to choose from. however, i'd like to delete some of these addresses as they are no longer valid. how can i do that?

I'm not using my mighty mouse anymore. I use a Targus one as I have arthritis and it's scrolls much easier. I don't think that makes a difference does it? I thought it was a right click and it would highlight the address, and the person who receives it can just click on it.
I use Hotmail and Roadrunner email. I have accounts in Gmail and Yahoo as well, but rarely use them, unless one of my main ones aren't working. What do I do, or what do I have to have in order to click and high light the address? I tried sending links as well and can't get them sent so others can click on them and open it as well. I've used the insert link box and it hasn't worked. I could do this on my pc I have sitting over there collecting dust but not on my IMac.
The POP's and smtp of talk21 (a BT subsidury) does not seem to work. Their help dek is useless.

So, I manually copied my files over along with select apps & preferences files.I got everything (Firefox, Thunderbird, etc) working exactly how I left them in Tiger. But, I messed up my Address Book and Mail. Now when I try to use them it says "You cannot use this version of the application [app name] with this version of Mac OS X.Is there a way to just reinstall these two apps without starting over with a fresh install?

I'm using mail.app with 5 different accounts at work. Different accounts are supposed to be for different groups of receivers. When sending mails I unfortunately tend forget to check if the right sending address (account) is chosen. Mail automatically chooses the one from which the last mail was send. And so it ends up that people receive mails from the wrong address and are getting confused by that.
when i start to type a persons name in mail os x starts to fill in the email address. that's great sometimes. like when the address is the correct one. but a lot of times old, invalid address come up and not new ones. is there a way to make it so those old address to not autofill?

My Mail and Address Book do not appear to be talking very well. Out of the box, the mail application does not appear to let me select recipients from the Address Book when composing a message. I added the "Address Book" button to the toolbar for composing a message. I can click this and bring up the address book, but there is still seemingly no way to select recipients from the Address Book.
I read somewhere that the "auto complete" function is supposed to reach out to Address Book when entering recipients' names in the "To" line. This is not working. I found some suggestions to go and delete a file in the Library that governs this function. I did that, but it has not worked.
What am I missing? Why is it so difficult to select people from your address book and send them an email from the Mail application? Is something broken here or is this a reality for this Mac? My wife is ready to kill me for throwing out her beloved PC.

Is there a way to change the which SMTP address is used as default. Even if I have the work account selected and move that account to the top of the list, my home account is always the default account selected to mail from.
