View 2 RepliesMy Word seems to be confused about what each type of spacing is. Today I had a double spaced paper written and started messing around with those view buttons on the bottom left corner. When I got it back to print layout view my spacing was much larger than before, but still said double spaced.
I realize that it is now correct and was too small before. I don't know why it changed, but when I open other documents it still has them as the small, incorrect double spacing and I can't figure out how to make them right. I've got the paragraph thing set to 0 and don't add space--that's none of the problem.
I am editing a resume and the document is set to Single Line Spacing. There are some sentences that are double spaced in the resume that I want to make single spaced I can't get them to be single spaces. Hitting the Delete bar does not help. It just pushes the sentence more to the left and then to the line above, not directly underneath it. And when I try to place the cursor with the mouse the cursor will not go directly underneath the line above but actually goes to the beginning of the line above. How can I get those double spaced lines to be single spaced

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to turn off whatever function puts boxes around paragraphs of text in mail. When I try to edit/manipulate text in emails that have been forwarded to me, it is difficult to do because every paragraph is set in an individual box. I can see how this might be useful for deleting whole paragraphs or moving them. But is there a way to turn off the function?

As a writer, I'm going to be using Pages on my brand new MacBook Pro 13" (I just switched from Windows) quite a lot, so it really ticks me off that whenever I insert text in a line in a paragraph, the line below it gets separated from the rest of the text instead of simply moving the text on the line I'm editing smoothly into the following lines.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently acquired a 23" ACD. I've seen the "BackPack" shelf concept that attaches a little shelf onto the metal foot of the display. I was wondering, has anyone come up with a solution to vertically store a MacBook (Pro) behind the display, also attaching to the display (or onto the surface if more support is necessary) in this same manner? After hooking my new ACD up to the laptop, I can't help but think how sweet it would be if my laptop could be tucked out of site behind this gigantic screen.
I guess I'm not really looking for a commercial solution if one exist (as they tend to be exorbitantly expensive, but more for pictures of home-made solutions to this sort of thing. I'm never going to look at it for more than a few minutes at a time, so I could care less how it looks!

I currently have a MBP1,1 running 10.6.4 on an external monitor with the ideal resolution at 1920x1200. From time to time, when I wake my MBP from sleep through external keyboard/mouse to have it run solely on the external monitor, it sets the display at 1600x1200, so everything seems squished vertically. After a fresh reformat, the problem persists, though it is less frequent. It's just a minor annoyance that I can't seem to find a solution to fix permanently. I usually have to go to safe mode and adjust the resolution back to normal. Alternatively, only sometimes if I put it back to sleep and wake it up again with the external keyboard, it will detect the right settings.

I tried using different media players and the floating line remains. I have also tried to de-interlace in VLC to no help. I will also add that all of my drivers and software are up to date.

I have a Mac OS X version 10.5.7 i am working on Word 2008 for Mac, version 12.0.1 (080305).
My problem, i created one text box in a document, somehow 2 more appeared. I made the mistake of thinking that to delete the extra text boxes, i simply highlight them and delete them. Silly stupid me, nothing that simple exists and i have wasted an hour trying to figure it out. The help button does squat, barely gives you any info on a text box much less trying to delete it. Does anyone know how to delete a text box in a word document?
i'm looking at moving over to the Mac in a couple days and i just need to know the best free Word Processor that can open .doc files. 99% of my docs made in Word are of the 97-2003 variety and not 2007's .docx.

As I am sure you all know text edit sucks. But it automatically opens all my RTFs.I have to manually get word to open them which is a pain in the ass.How can I fix this so that all RTF's are automatically opened by WORD?I am still on the old version of word because I have to use ENDNOTE - which has no support for Word 2011 right now. I have a copy of 2011 sitting on my desk and I am itching to use it, but I will loose 200+ citations if I do.

I understand that Word for Mac does not ahve VBA support, therefore no macros like in Word 2007. Does office 2008 (Word) have some sort of macro capability.

I'm considering using a Mac Mini as a media centre computer and supporting it with a eyetv dongle. Does anyone have an opinion on it's ability to do so. eg. Noise, speed, Graphics power? If it's not going to cut it, is there an alternative? I'm not keen on the Apple TV given it's limitations out of the box.

- My account, started by me protected by that password, now AUTOMATICALLY logs in at startup.
- They created a new account, known as 'Other...'
- The login password, which I've always used, no longer works when I need to unlock settings changes.
What should I do?
Running Leopard 10.5.8, 15" MacBook Pro with an additional Apple Display. Plugged into projector the resolution/display went bonkers/everything was thrown off-center The resolutions are accurate for both screen and display Software is kept updated/Repaired permissions The screen and display are off-center by about 2 inches in width and and 1 inch in height I can move about the screens to bring my dock and/or menu bars into view, but they are no longer fitting into the confines of the screen/display
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a quick question for all of you with two Apple notebooks (I've seen in many peoples signatures that they have two or more notebooks). I brought a 15" MacBook Pro last week and finally set it up on Monday, the idea was for it to replace my 2007 13" White MacBook! But now i've had a change of heart and don't really want to get rid! I'd like to keep it of I can find a use to justify doing so! Just wondering what everyone else uses a second notebook for?! I was considering using it as a media center and for around the house/coffee shop browsing (My new MacBook Pro's base gets to 40 degrees so can't see myself using it on my lap unfortunately)!
