OS X Yosemite :: Shows Contact Name In Message Notification But Not In Messages Itself
Dec 12, 2014I have iMessage/SMS forwarding turned on on my MacBook pro. When I type a new message, it allows me to search by contact name, however when I select a contact, the name disappears and Messages only shows the contact number. When I get a notification, the contact name shows, but the Messages window still only shows the contact number. iCloud is turned on and contacts are syncing.Â
I've seen several replies that say to go to "details" in the Message account tab, but once I enter my password there, it doesn't show me anything new. I don't use Messages on my Mac very often, but I'd like to try to solve this issue. Â

OS X :: New Mail Sound Notification Not Working On 10.5.4
Aug 1, 2008I'm not getting email notification sounds when I get an email in mail. I have tried changing the sounds. My updates are current. I'm using 10.5.4, and it used to work. I get all other sounds except the new mail sounds. Can someone help Apple Care is useless in helping me with this. I have a macbook running the same OS and every thing with the same sound, and it works just fine everytime.

Compressor 4 :: 4.1.2 - Email Notification When Render Has Been Completed?
Sep 3, 2014I would like to be emailed a notification that my render has been complete.
I can't seem to find any info on how to set up an email notification when a render is complete.
My Compressor is on a computer that is used by many people so I don't want to have an applescript create an email via apple mail as that would mean my emails would be available on that machine.
I seem to remember on version 3 this being available but I can not even find the settings in compressor 4.1.2. How this can be done?
OS X :: Mac Mail - Incoming Message Slow Download
Oct 6, 2010I've noticed a problem with my mac mail. The number 1 over the mail icon comes up to show I have a new mail, but upon clicking into mail to see it, who it is from and the subject line is there, but it takes 20-30 seconds for the mail to download. This is happening across all email accounts, coming from a mixture of imap and pop accounts. I've also noticed in my activity monitor that my amount of free system memory is very low (dropping to under 50 meg when I have things open). If I install more system memory, do you think this will solve the email problem.

Jun 20, 2010When my ISP changed from Patmedia to Comcast I changed all my iCal notifications to my new email address. I deleted all references to my old address in Address Book on my computer and on the Mobil Me Address Book as well as deleting the address in Previous Recipients in Mail. I am getting mail from "postmaster@mac.com" that it can't deliver mail to my old mail address. So iCal is still trying to send a reoccurring reminder to this addressfrom somewhere. May 10, 2012I need to create a Watch Folder that when a file is dropped in, a folder action is triggered and that file is moved to another folder and an email is sent to say that the file has been moved.Â
The easy bit is creating the Watch Folder action, I have that working no problem. I can also send the email but what I can't figure out is how to customize the email content to say which specific file has been moved? How can I obtain the file name and paste that into the email notification?Â

OS X :: Large Number Of Incoming Message - Download Speed Goes To Zero
Nov 28, 2010I'm using a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo imac with 3GB memory running OS 10.5.8. I've been using mac mail at home, work and on the move for years and have only ever had a couple of minor problems with it. However last Friday, after using it normally in the office, I went out, leaving the machine to sleep. When I came back my mail wouldn't download past message number 7 and it said there were 400+ emails to download when it should have been maximum 10. I tried to shut down mail but every time I tried to shut it down it wouldn't shut down.
I had to 'force quit' even though 'force quit' didn't say 'not responding' alongside mail. When I reopened mail the number of 'new' messages dropped to only 170 odd, but still I can't get past the 10th email and the download speed goes to zero. Also I can't delete some existing messages in my inbox. They go light grey but don't delete. I am able to use mail as normal on my home mac which uses mail with the same account settings as my office mac. I can also access my emails via my iPhone and webmail.

I have seen a commercial of an iMAC sending email and a swishing sound occurred when the email was sent. I wonder how one turns on the sound that indicates the email has been transmitted? And, are there choices of different sounds for this purpose?

May 15, 2012I am losing random incoming emails in my .mac email address. I first discovered it last week when my wife was getting emails that I was copied on that I never got. Checked inbox, trash, junk, iCloud and never could find them. Then today, just by chance, I had to verify a link via that email address. When the verification is sent, I see it hit the inbox with the new email counter and then it immediately disappears. I have disabled all my Apple Mail rules and Smart Mailboxes. As I mentioned, I have checked everywhere I could think of that it might be going.

Jun 6, 2014Where (I'd assume /System/Library/Sounds somewhere) the "Message Sent" sound is? In OS X Mavericks, in the Messages app, they removed the ability to set a custom "Message Sent" sound, so it appears I'll have to do it the hard way, by replacing the existing sound file. I just need to know where that file is.

Apr 5, 2009How do I send email addresses in an email? I wanted to send my family some addresses so they could email more family in an evite invitation. I'm not using my mighty mouse anymore. I use a Targus one as I have arthritis and it's scrolls much easier. I don't think that makes a difference does it? I thought it was a right click and it would highlight the address, and the person who receives it can just click on it.
I use Hotmail and Roadrunner email. I have accounts in Gmail and Yahoo as well, but rarely use them, unless one of my main ones aren't working. What do I do, or what do I have to have in order to click and high light the address? I tried sending links as well and can't get them sent so others can click on them and open it as well. I've used the insert link box and it hasn't worked. I could do this on my pc I have sitting over there collecting dust but not on my IMac.

Apr 18, 2012Why do I keep getting a message that my email password is invalid? I retype it and ask it to save to the keychain, the message goes away and then I get it again later. This happens with my Bellsouth (now ATT) account and also with iCal.
