Software :: Font Size Big In Both Firefox And Safari?
Oct 12, 2010
A web dev client of mine was complaining about the site we built her, and sent over some screenshots. It appears her font size is about two sizes larger than "normal" in both Firefox and Safari. I had her reset it to normal in Firefox - no change, apparently the setting wasn't made in Firefox.

I just got some internet going again after having moved. I've had my new Octopus for a few weeks tho. So much to my surprise, I open up my gmail account and it's practically unintelligible. Some weird cartoon like font is my default font. As far as I can tell, all the default fonts are activated and all the settings point to the activated fonts, but this is driving me absolutely F__KING bonkers. Has anyone ever had this problem? Now to be fair, I did install some fonts from a semi questionable font disk a week or two ago, so maybe some rogue font has hijacked my web fonts.

I'm trying to increase the font size of my mac, but I can't find it anywhere. I should be really simple to do so I'm probably missing something. On windows you just right click the desktop > appearance and bang. How can I do it on the mac? Oh and I don't want to increase the font of safari or finder, i already know how to do that, what I'm looking for is a way to make all fonts bigger (including menus)... just like you do on windows, make all fonts 1.2 times bigger.

I see that when I open either one of my browsers, I switch between Firefox and Safari, the font is very small and I have to use CMD and the plus (+) key to increase the font.
How do I permanently keep it at a bigger default font?

I just got a new MacBook Pro 15" and am still trying to get used to the one piece trackpad. (My old MacBook had a separate button). The main irritation is that, depending on how I move my fingers, I inadvertantly change the size of the webpage and font. I'm not even sure what I am doing to cause this, but is there a way to "lock" the trackpad so this does not happen?

Way back in typesetting days you could change fonts and sizes by simple macro commands without having to revert to your mouse and drop-down menus. Does anyone know how that can be achieved on the Mac?

I have purchased my first Mac a IMAC 20.5" 3.06 GHz. I had been a PC User for over 25 years and am having a bit of difficulty in setting up the everyday Toolbar Visuals. The main problem I have is that I cannot find any means to increase the size of the font on the toolbars and would also like to zoom the default size of displayed Web Pages.

If you have a 1440 x 900 15" MBP and you reduce the screen to 80% in Firefox or Safari I think it's very close to the font size you'll find standard on the hi-res screens.
Then to get an idea whether or not you're pleased with the font size try using your notebook at this setting for a few days.
My initial experience with the small fonts on the hi-res screens in the area's were the fonts couldn't easily be resized I didn't like it at all the first few hours I typed on it -then- I started to like it, the fonts are smaller but sharp and crisp I was getting sold on the idea of the hi-res screens. Finally, after a few days using the laptop for long periods of time I found my eyes where "much" more strained, not because I couldn't enlarge the fonts on the page I was typing on it was everything else; menu text etc ... glancing and refocusing to view the smaller fonts became tiring on the eyes, making them feel dry/heavy.
I then went back to the 1440 x 900 screen and the eye strain disappeared. I wanted to buy and like the hi-res screen, but not doable for me.
This post was meant to help anyone who's trying to decide what to do but isn't near an Apple Store to take a look for themselves.
The above font size should also be similar.
*** Keeping in mind it will look more sharp and crisp on the hi-res display.

Sometimes when I cut a line of text and paste it into a mail I am writing and then continue to add to the mail the text gets very tiny.
I can only get back to the original font size if I start a new mail.

I have now had a nice 27" 2560x1440 pixel Job for about 3 1/2 weeks, but I can't stop it using a base system font which renders letters on screen at about 1.5mm high. One of your threads gives this answer: click on the backround, go to view, view options and set the font size.Yes it does set the font size used in the screen icons, but the font used in the window it opened remains resolutely minute. To compose an email, I must set the font to 24 pt, but then forget to reset it before sending the email. The zoom function does not seem to be available in composer.

Any way to increase this? With my screen at full resolution the print is very small and gives me headaches very quickly, so I have to set it to 1920x1080. I switched to Imac for processing photographs, so the advantage of a good quality screen is somewhat wasted. Also, at the lower resolution, the print is not so sharp.
