Jun 18, 2010I have now had a nice 27" 2560x1440 pixel Job for about 3 1/2 weeks, but I can't stop it using a base system font which renders letters on screen at about 1.5mm high. One of your threads gives this answer: click on the backround, go to view, view options and set the font size.Yes it does set the font size used in the screen icons, but the font used in the window it opened remains resolutely minute.To compose an email, I must set the font to 24 pt, but then forget to reset it before sending the email. The zoom function does not seem to be available in composer.

Jul 24, 2009Just bought the 24 LED Cinema Display to use with my new uMBP. The display looks great, but sometimes it's pretty tough to read things on it because the resolution is so high. Is there any way to change the font size for things like Safari, Entourage, Word, etc. JUST on the LED and not on the MBP as well?

Dec 8, 2009I discovered a bit of an oddity yesterday.
I did a search on Google for a message board for an NFL team (Baltimore Ravens). The top link on Google was the message board on the official team site. When I clicked on the link, it redirected me to some random shady site. When I tried again, I got through fine. But I then reset Safari (deleting the cookies), tried it again, and the same thing happened. Yahoo provided the same issue.
I do not download anything except for Software Updates (I know about the trojans posing as codecs and pirated software, and have not downloaded anything of the such).
Out of curiosity, I tried Googling the website on a PC with Firefox, and had no problem. I downloaded Safari to that same PC, and the same thing occurred, so this clearly is a browser specific problem. Also of note is that on the PC, the AV detected a trojan about 5 minutes later.
I tried disabling Java, and the Google link wouldn't open the webpage the first time, but I did not get redirected. Typing the address in directly provided no problems.
I am at a loss. Is my system secure? I keep up with all updates (I am currently on 10.5.8, though). Has my system been compromised at all?

Sep 2, 2010This hint requires that you have apple developer tools installed in order to use plist editor. I have a root account enabled on my system which i was logged into to use this hint, i'm sure some of the more terminal thrifty users can chime in on how to do this through the terminal.
In the finder navigate to applications folder and right click on itunes and select Show Package Contents. Once Contents is open the path is Contents/Resources/English.lproj/TextStyles.plist. Right click on TextStyles.plist and open with Property List Editor.app. in Property List Editor.app locate 9003 and click the arrow next to it.
You will see 3 lines of settings on the FONT row i changed the font to LucidaGrange-Bold. on the SIZE line i changed 13 to 18. then save the file
I now have iTunes with a bold and larger font just the way i like it. Im a musician and use itunes to make my bands set lists I just take a screen capture of the list and print in preview.

On windows you just right click the desktop > appearance and bang. How can I do it on the mac? It appears her font size is about two sizes larger than "normal" in both Firefox and Safari. I had her reset it to normal in Firefox - no change, apparently the setting wasn't made in Firefox.

Jun 9, 2012Yahoo seems to have made a change that only impacts Safari. Yahoo starts to load and then stops. Resetting Safari, removing cookies and clearing the cache enables sign in but no links from the start page load. Some give a message "loading" and then "Content unavailable try again later." Firefox works OK with Yahoo and Safari works on other sites.

Feb 26, 2012Recently replaced my internal hard drive and had to re-download and update everything... Forgot which version of Safari I had before with my OS X 10.4.11, so I got Safari v4.1.3... It works great, but I know the bold fonts were never THIS bold. Here is what I'm currently looking at:Â
I tried selecting "Never use font sizes smaller than 9", and I even tried "Empty Cache" as well as "Reset Safari...", but it's still ridiculously bold.
