Software :: Exporting All Mailboxes Settings From Old To New Computer?
Aug 15, 2009
There are 554 threads under "mailboxes." There are 1000 under "mail export." There is a simple click under "import" for a mac. All I am trying to find out is HOW do I simply take all the mailboxes and settings from an old mac and get them on the new mac. 2 hrs and counting.
How to export all the mailboxes (many) with all the emails that I have in my Mail programme in a form they can be imported by other email clients (Thunderbird, Outlook etc.).
I bought 2 new macs with the new leopard operating system. When i use roxio toast 7.1.3 to export videos i get real grainy sound. I was able to do this fine on my old imac g5 with panther. Do i have a setting that i need to change?
I don't know if this is the right thread, but it was the closest I could find.I have problems with my settings configuring the SMTP server on my iPhone 2G.So I was wondering if it's possible to delete all the email accounts on the iPhone, and the through MobileMe get my computers email accounts with settings and all email synced over to the iPhone?
I just got my 13" (4/128) MacBook Air yesterday, and I decided to use Migration Assistant instead of Setup Assistant - because I didn't want all of my applications to be put on the new Air.
Well, Migration Assistant screwed everything up. I ended having to reinstall iWork (it wouldn't recognize it), had to reset defaults, had to pull off a few files directly from Time Machine, etc.
Well I've got almost everything back to normal - except my Safari bookmarks!
Prior to all of this, I thought I could restore to factory settings using the little Apple stick - but even that was a hassle. It would only reinstall my OS, but it wouldn't erase and install the drive. I could get into Disk Utility, but the "Erase" button was "grayed" out...
Frustrated... if I could just get the Safari bookmarks somehow OR if someone could properly show me how to restore to factory settings (main issue is not being able to Erase and Install)...
Okay, so here is how my question comes about... I have already searched and could not find links to other threads..
I bought a G4 desktop from a guy on craigslist about a week ago and I want to upgrade from 10.3.9 to the newer 10.5. He has an administrative account on the computer and whenever I try and load the 10.5, it asks for his password. I called the guy wondering what his password was and he told me. I tried entering that in and it will not work. Now the guy will not answer his phone or his e-mail address. I know he was the original owner because of the information on the computer and the name on the business card he exchanged for mine.
I would really like to upgrade my OS but I need to know how to go about reseting the computer to erase 100% of everything on the computer. Can someone please help me, I am new to Mac and I don't really know what to do!!!
Is there a way to get all the settings, bookmarks and email accounts and mail into the new mac account. It gives you a blank computer. But I'd like to have Mail and Entourage setup the same way as the original account with all the saved emails. And also to have all my bookmarks from Safari. And what about retrieving particular documents? Seems like there must be an easy way.
Also, is there a way to switch back and forth without having to type in the password each time?
I'm sure there's a simple explanation for this, but my computer's been acting up recently...I've only had it for 2 months but for some reason, my shared name keeps coming up as "Austin's Mac (2)" or more recently "Austin's Mac (3)". I searched around but could not find a solution to this as it just keeps bugging me.
I was wondering if anyone knows of other ways to control the computer to preserve battery life. I'm thinking mostly about underclocking the cpu. Does anyone know if this is possible and also if this would benefit the battery life? I'm on Aluminum Macbook OS X 10.5.8.
Snow Leopard (10.6.8) became corrupted resulting in not being able to shut down my 1/2007 Intel Core 2 Duo MacBookPro and not being able to download numerous programs and updates. I backed-up my laptop, took it into the Apple Store where they wiped the hard disc clean and reloaded the OS. They suggested I use Migration Assistant to restore my backed up information to my laptop, but ALL of my settings from Desktop, to the Dock, to Finder, to screen savers, to Safari bookmarks, to all of my Mail inboxes, archives and smart email boxes, and to Documents and all of my files and their organization, to iTunes, to Address Book, to Calendar are GONE. Do I need to do some more formal kind of a restore from my back-up drive to recover/restore this information and "get my laptop back" or is it all lost?

I purchased a new IMac Intel version which comes with RSS. I want to delete RSS from my Mailboxes. I live in Antigua and get no support from Mac and if I telephone I have to do it at international call rates. Mac have been totally useless in being able to tell me how to disconnect RSS. Does anyone know how to do it?
I have 4 emails that I check easily with my iPod Touch and I think its pretty easy to check it in mail on my dock but I was wondering if you can put more than two emails on it. Pictures would help if you know.
Just playing around with smart mailboxes to organise my emails.
I have set a couple up and the correct mails go to the correct smart mailbox, but they also remain in my inbox. Also when i tried deleting them from the inbox they were also deleted from the smart mailbox.
Am I doing something wrong, or is that just how it works? I'm just trying to have them be automatically moved to the desired smart mailbox and not in inbox.
I have a G5 Duel 2GHz Power PC, Recently I was losing the time, date and wireless settings so I assumed as my machine is now 4 years old the PRAM battery was up for renewal. This has now been replaced but I'm still losing my settings, not all the time but randomly, sometimes I lose my wireless key sometimes I lose time and date sometimes both, this can happen daily.
I have removed the (New) Battery and checked the voltage and it reads 3.6 Volts, I haven't checked this under load though, so presuming that the battery is OK, what else could cause this.. a failing System Board?
When using pages i noticed that when exporting to word i lose some more advanced formating sometimes... so i`m afraid to lose the formating when doing the same to keynote (effects, pictures, charts and transitions..)
is there a way to export a movie from imovie to a watchable format without actually opening imovie. My computer is severely breaking down, and i cant open half of my apps.
I have Entourage for mac 2008 and im trying to transfer to another app the emails that i have sent and the ones that are sent to me. How can export those emails and to what format? Im not interested that those mails can be worked in Entourage again pdf would be fine!
I'd like to archive my mailboxes. I want to keep the email messages, but not in Mail. Is there a way to archive them outside of Mail? I'm using Tiger 10.4.11 on a G4 800.
I added my other email address, and the problem is that it adds a whole new folder for this account, the inbox/sent/outbox folders are not in sync with my Gmail/SBC accounts. I attached images to show what I mean.
i just started using Mail 4.2 on OS X 10.6.3. Every so often, I forward email that I receive at work on my Lotus Notes email account. Especially, my payroll information. I created a Smart Mailbox with the rule that looks for consistent string in the subject line. The original email is in the Inbox, but it does not appear in the Smart Mailbox I created.
I must be doing something wrong. I've googled, I've looked in Apple Support, I searched here. I don't see the answer to my question.
When I fired up the computer today and chose the "Mail" icon, after three years I got the "welcome, we'll help you set up you account." All my mailboxes have vanished.
I can "See" the Library/Mailboxes and the POP folders....how do I get these back so I can see the 1100 emails that are saved in the various folders?
PS If I try to import mailboxes, choose other and then go to the mbox files I get the message "there are no valid mbox files to import."
I had hooked up the computer with firewire and I had attempted the migration assistant but really had a problem finding the mail stuff without migrating a lot of old stuff I didn't want. So, I took the advise from another post and what I did last night was copy my mail to a flashdrive so I would have the accounts on the new MacBookpro. When I fired up the old computer today, I had to set up a new account and attempt to restore the folders. They show up but empty. There are five pop accounts and about 30 folders with various client info, etc.
I have had my MacBook Pro now for a little over 2 yrs and I was very frustrated I could not change any print options in any application. I know that the Triangle button expands print options screen but when I do, I have only two print choices. It gave me Standard or Page Attributes in Office and any other App it is Standard and Last used settings. I can't print in Draft, Best or other setting because it does not even give them as a choice. I have two high end color photo printers, Canon i9900 and Epson Photo series and an old HP830 series. Any app I tried to print from and the same thing. I tried to capture the options on the choices but it would not grab that part of the image but here is my screen shot. I searched many forums and I still get the same answer so something else is not letting me change things so I figured best to ask since I am a 20 year win user now switched to Mac. Well right after I posted this question, my wife found the answer. I never though to check the application NAME in the print setting screen. Example, in the screenshot I am using Preview. I never thought to hit the up/down arrow next to the Preview label and wouldn't you know, that is were the quality and several other settings were. I felt pretty stupid that it took 2 years to figure this out but if I posted the answer maybe someone else will not have to take as long as I did to change their print quality!
I've purchased my Mac book from a friend. It still has his name and password on which he cannot remember. Am i correct in assuming that if I restore it to the origianl factory settings then it will erase his settings. Also will i need anything erlse with the start up like serial numbers, auth codes etc?
Does anybody know how to export Entourage calendar items from a local calendar and then import into an Outlook calendar on an Exchange server?
Or have a better way to move calendar items from local to server? Ive only been able to drag and drop single items. Importing doesnt ask which calendar to bring the items into.
i am looking to export my web design onto my host site. the only way i know how to do this is to copy and paste the source code, which is how i have been editing my current site in nvu.
