MacBook Pro :: Mailboxes Have Disappeared
Apr 5, 2012I opened up my mail only to find that none of my mailboxes exist.
I've lost all my emails from all my email accounts that were stored in my mailbox from the past three years. What can I do?

On one of my iMacs (and not the other), my smart mailboxes disappeared after upgrading to iCloud. How do I get these back?
Info:
iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4)
All of my iMail accounts/mailboxes disappeared overnight (two nights ago). I did not delete the accounts/mailboxes, nor was anyone else using this computer (a MacBook Pro). Did make one change before this happened: I setup a LogIn Password. Running OSX 10.8.5 Mountain Lion. Time Machine not setup (so no backup). Using iCloud but not for Mail.

I work my mail via icloud. perfect! Except when I drag a mail to a specific mailbox which isn't on my macbook, then the mail disappears? In other words mail syncs woks but the mailboxes I make on my IMac are not shown on my MacBook...

i also can't click on anything on the desktop, the only thing that is there and works are the words on the top, stopping at help. Also after every word i write, a pop up says 'alert cannot contact spell checker,' When i open safari i also cannot get it back to finder, and i can't search anything on the computer because after the second letter the screen flashes.
It started this morning i tried to write something in stickies and the computer went crazy to a blue screen and the loading circle started spinning around so i shut it down, when i loaded it up i had all these problems.
I have iBook g4 from 2005. What should i do, i don't know anything about computers. I tried searching online i tried to use killall Dock in terminal it didn't work, it said no matching processes were found.
I purchased a new IMac Intel version which comes with RSS. I want to delete RSS from my Mailboxes. I live in Antigua and get no support from Mac and if I telephone I have to do it at international call rates. Mac have been totally useless in being able to tell me how to disconnect RSS. Does anyone know how to do it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust playing around with smart mailboxes to organise my emails.
I have set a couple up and the correct mails go to the correct smart mailbox, but they also remain in my inbox. Also when i tried deleting them from the inbox they were also deleted from the smart mailbox.
Am I doing something wrong, or is that just how it works? I'm just trying to have them be automatically moved to the desired smart mailbox and not in inbox.
I'd like to archive my mailboxes. I want to keep the email messages, but not in Mail. Is there a way to archive them outside of Mail? I'm using Tiger 10.4.11 on a G4 800.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI added my other email address, and the problem is that it adds a whole new folder for this account, the inbox/sent/outbox folders are not in sync with my Gmail/SBC accounts. I attached images to show what I mean.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi just started using Mail 4.2 on OS X 10.6.3. Every so often, I forward email that I receive at work on my Lotus Notes email account. Especially, my payroll information. I created a Smart Mailbox with the rule that looks for consistent string in the subject line. The original email is in the Inbox, but it does not appear in the Smart Mailbox I created.
I must be doing something wrong. I've googled, I've looked in Apple Support, I searched here. I don't see the answer to my question.
Any help is appreciated.
is there any way i can make a mailbox that says say
cointains any of these - bla bla bla
but does not cointiain any of these - alb alb alb
?
When I fired up the computer today and chose the "Mail" icon, after three years I got the "welcome, we'll help you set up you account." All my mailboxes have vanished.
I can "See" the Library/Mailboxes and the POP folders....how do I get these back so I can see the 1100 emails that are saved in the various folders?
PS If I try to import mailboxes, choose other and then go to the mbox files I get the message "there are no valid mbox files to import."
I had hooked up the computer with firewire and I had attempted the migration assistant but really had a problem finding the mail stuff without migrating a lot of old stuff I didn't want. So, I took the advise from another post and what I did last night was copy my mail to a flashdrive so I would have the accounts on the new MacBookpro. When I fired up the old computer today, I had to set up a new account and attempt to restore the folders. They show up but empty. There are five pop accounts and about 30 folders with various client info, etc.
I just upgraded (well the Mac store in Turin italy did it for me, I probably should have done it myself!). Everything great except I lost all my smart mailboxes and regular mailboxes. I had a big file of mail called "archive" - when I go to create a new one, I get a message that a file named "archive" already exists.

Is it possible to change the "New Mail Sound" for different mailboxes? I mean one sound for my work email and another for my personal?
I have Apple Lion 10.7.2, I use Apple mail, email accounts set up as IMAP accounts, sync'd with my IMAC and Air.My hosting company, 1and1 allows me to set up folder within IMAP so these are shown in MAIL on both macs. As i deal with each email I file in the relevent folder. However recently I have been finding that when I search MAIL for a particular email it doesnt find them, regardless if they are in the folder or in the main mailbox. Weird. I had this happy today, searching for an email I knew I had received as it had an attachment and had found the corresponding reply in sent. However the email which I had on this occassion stored into one of the these folders could not be located on searching?
Email comes into mailbox, I action or reply, I want to store it away from the main inbox so I only see ones that I need to deal with - however I must be able to see it on my macbook air, IPad so I didnt create a folder in MAIL, as this doesnt reciprocate on the other macs?

Creating mailboxes (iMap account) in the sidebar of Mail works fine and they are sorted alfhabetically by name, but mailboxes created from other computers in in Thunderbird doesn't get sorted when syncronising, but pops up in the bottom of the mailbox list in Mail (non alfhabetic). Is there away to get them listed correctly?

Having real problems with mac and space, how do I delete mailboxes
Info:
iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2)
I keep getting the message that I cannot move messages to trash as there is no space?

I have Mail on my wife's MacBook Pro (running Lion 10.7.4) set up to access our host's mail server via IMAP. The inbox appears in the sidebar as 'Guided Tours' under 'Inbox'. She's set up a whole bunch of custom mailboxes which normally appear in her sidebar under the heading 'Guided Tours'. After shutting the Mac down for a week while she was away the only mailboxes there are Sent and Trash. The mail, in all its folders and subfolders, is all there on the server - I can see it via our host's horrible webmail interface. I've looked at Mail's preferences and come up with nothing - 'Mailbox behaviours' etc. are no help. The mailboxes had also disappeared from inside [URL] so I restored them from the last Time Machine backup from before she went away, but Mail wouldnt see them after quitting and relaunching or even after restarting the Mac. I then tried restoring the entire ~/Library/Mail folder from TM, but still no good. Finally, I deleted the whole account and recreated it from scratch, and this is where it gets even more interesting... This appeared to work - hurrah! Back in business with all the mailboxes showing as they should, and apparently fully functional... until I looked at her Mac about an hour later - when it hadnt even been to sleep, let alone shut down - and they'd vanished again! This time though, the mailboxes are still there in the INBOX.mbox folder... except they're all empty! For what it's worth, as well as being there on the server, the mailboxes are, fortunately, all accessible and usable from her iPad and iPhone, so she can use those for now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have added a new mailbox called archive in mail and selected "On My Mac". I was expecting that it would show up in my sidebar under "On My Mac", but nothing shows.
I tried recreating the mailbox and I get an error that it already exists.Â
I am not syncing with iCloud so I know that is not the issue.Â
How do I get "On My Mac" mailboxes to show in the app?Â

After being quite hesitant on installing Mavericks, I upgraded my MacBook and my iMac. However: all my mail stored in the smart mailboxes is unaccessible. This is a real disaster.
How do I get my mail archive back...

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running on Mail 3.6 on OS X 10.5.8. When I archive a mailbox, it is saved as a text file that opens in TextEdit. I have all of my archived mailboxes in one folder. However, if I try to search for a word in that folder using Spotlight, nothing comes up. It seems that Spotlight does not recognize these files. How can I do a search of archived mailboxes?
View 2 Replies View RelatedUntil recently, I had had no problems with the mail application for going on six years. Now, everytime my mail application checks for mail (auto or manual), all of my mailboxes are kicked offline and must manually be put back on line. In addition, when I try to send mail, the mail goes to my out box and I have to restart my computer in order for it to be eventually sent. These problems started when Verizon transferred its internet services to Frontier. Frontier says it is an Apple problem. (In doing some research I find that other mac owners, Panther and beyond, with other ISP's are having similar problems with no one, that I can find having found a solution). I have double checked my settings and deleted and reentered all of my mailboxes to no avail.
View 4 Replies View RelatedRelatively new to Mac. In Mac Mail, I accidentally dragged some of the default mailboxes (Drafts) out of the Mailboxes Pane on the left up to the top bar and they disappeared without so much as a warning message to let me know! I can't seem to find a way to get them back or the mail that was in them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBy default, the mailboxes in Apple Mail are sorted by Date Received, Oldest first. I tried sorting a few of my folders to be 'Newest First' instead, but I would have to do it for all of my folders, and I have about 150 folders.
What is the fastest way to sort all my folders to the way I want it?
And for all new folders?
Newbie question: is there an easy way to display the TOTAL item count in a mailbox? (not the unread count). Outlook showed this total in the status bar. I have displayed the quota limits in the Account Info, but that is impractical for quick reference.
