Software :: Do My Programmer Need Apple For XCode
Mar 8, 2010
I just found that it is great business to make apps for Apple.
I am from Lithuania and here we haven't any competitors in this business.
It is everything ok.
I found a programmer, who knows C++ well, but the problem is that he doesn't have a MacBook.
The question is that:
Can he write the code on windows, and put it on my apple? (I have one).
1. he have the code on win OS
2. he sends me the code
3. I put it on xCode
4. we have a program))
Will it work? And if not, what could we do?

I want to download apple developer tools XCode on my iMac, but it says I need a later version of OSX. What are the downsides to installing the later version (Lion?). I currently have OS X version 10.6.8 on my iMac and it says I'm required to install version 10.7.3 or later. By the way, is the updated version provided free or do I have to buy it? I'm looking to do all of this so I can start to develop an App for my iPad..

First let me explain my situation. I currently have a 2.5 year old desktop and a 10" netbook
Desktop:
(Q6600, 2Gb RAM, 250 GB HDD, 8800 GTS) + 22" monitor.
Netbook:
(Atom 1.6, 2 GB Ram, 160 GB HDD)
I have been really happy with my desktop pc. Always felt that it was quick and still think so. However the situation is that I study Computer Science and I am growing very tired of having two computers. I never attend exercises because I feel like I have to complete them at the set. If I don't I have to go through the cumbersome procedure of having to zip things and then send to mail or use USB stick. This is not ideal for me. I am too lazy for that.
I would call myself a "Superuser". I spend all my time in front of my computer running demanding applications like visual studio 2010 while my browser is opened with lots of youtube tabs.
My first thought was too get the best MacBook Pro there was. 15" i7 core model with antiglare screen. But this model really costs a lot of money. Not too sure I want to spend that much money when I can get a PC laptop for third a price with same specs. So instead I looked at the cheap 13" 2.4 Gzh model. Its price level is more realistic for me. I would upgrade it to a 500 GB 7200 RPM HD.
However I am not unsure if I am setting my standards too low. My logic says that since I use so much time in front of a computer I should invest in the expensive one but my stomach feeling says I should get the cheap model as it is almost half price compared to the 15" model. If it gets too slow after some years I can just buy a new one.

I just recently downloaded and installed XCode and was wondering if this thing "X11" I'm finding in my utilities folder is it. I can't find anything in my applications folder that explicitly says "XCode" unless it's the installer and I've already finished installing it... so does anyone know if X11 is what I'm looking for?

I'm selling a Tiger disc and it says "Tiger with Xcode" on the disc. Is this a normal disc or what is it? I have other Tiger discs on CD and I don't think they have Xcode.

have knowledge of C and want to start learning C++. Traditionally, I am a Windows Programmer, but want to start coding apps for Mac OS X. What is the best approach to programming using C++ on OS X?From what I gather only carbon can be used with C++ - but carbon is designed for backward compatability with OS 9/8/etc - but I am not interested in this. Cocoa is OS X only (which I like), but requires objective C. However, I would rather learn C++, as this is widely used in the Windows world, so I believe that C++ would be more useful to learn than Obj-C. Would it be possible for anyone to confirm whether it would be possible to program Cocoa using C++?Also, does anyone know of any good Mac Development websites that have good step by step tutorials to programming in C++ using Xcode?

I'm trying to download XCode onto my MacBook Pro which runs on Maverick, Version 10.9.4.Â
Whenever I try to download the application, I get this error code.Â
I was able to download XCode on my main house computer, but it will not let me do it on here.
I have logged out of my Apple ID, tried a different one, restarted the application, and restarted my computer and I am still getting this error code.Â
Some people who have the same computer as me are able to download while others get the same error code.Â
Info:
MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

I currently need a laptop of some sort but have a very fast PC desktop for my heavy lifting, PC gaming, photoshop, etc. I am also interested in learning to program for iOS using Xcode, and I don't want to go the hackintosh route. Since I have a desktop, my general usage for this laptop would be very light, i.e. web browsing, email, tweetdeck, iTunes, light Microsoft Office use, etc. I am just wondering if these models would be good enough for Xcode? Would the 11" model be sufficient?
(I could plug into one of my PC's external monitors for more screen real estate). I guess I mainly ask that question from a processor standpoint (1.4 versus the 1.86 in the 13"). 2GB versus 4GB RAM? Again, this would be used very casually other than learning programming on Xcode. Before the Airs were released I was considering a base 13" pro. The only benefit I see in the 13" pro at this point is a backlit keyboard and cheaper than the 13" air. (Apple Store has the 13" pro refurb for $1020 right now).

In starting new Xcode projects, errors occur or appear to occur. How can I delete or remove all the related files so I can start over? Now I just start over with a new name and all those trash files build up. I would like to remove some projects, complete or not, and all related files from the computer.
