have knowledge of C and want to start learning C++. Traditionally, I am a Windows Programmer, but want to start coding apps for Mac OS X. What is the best approach to programming using C++ on OS X?From what I gather only carbon can be used with C++ - but carbon is designed for backward compatability with OS 9/8/etc - but I am not interested in this. Cocoa is OS X only (which I like), but requires objective C. However, I would rather learn C++, as this is widely used in the Windows world, so I believe that C++ would be more useful to learn than Obj-C. Would it be possible for anyone to confirm whether it would be possible to program Cocoa using C++?Also, does anyone know of any good Mac Development websites that have good step by step tutorials to programming in C++ using Xcode?
I recently got a Macbook Pro and want to learn programming. I remember seeing a program that teaches you how to program, it was an interactive program. Anyone know the name of it?
I want to learn programming, from scratch, I have no knowledge of programming itself but am very competent with a computer. I have a MacBook running Leopard and boot camp with XP. I can learn fast and eventually want to go on to write apps for the iPhone/iPod Touch platform and maybe even games. What programming language should I learn to start with? Preferably not the one that is the easiest to learn but the one that is the most useful.
So, I'm making an app for Mac OS 10.6.5 in Xcode. I want to add an IKImageView and I drag it in. But when I Build & Go in Xcode, it wont open. Just keeps jumping. Is there a framework I need to add?
In starting new Xcode projects, errors occur or appear to occur. How can I delete or remove all the related files so I can start over? Now I just start over with a new name and all those trash files build up. I would like to remove some projects, complete or not, and all related files from the computer.
I'm new to Xcode but I'm trying to learn it as fast as I can. I'm attempting to render in OpenGL but I have no clue how to render or link anything. Where are some good tutorials to get going Fast?
I just started learning iPhone/iPad programming. I know any MacBook model is sufficient for iPhone development. But as for iPad programming, the one thing concerns me is the screen resolution. Does the iPad Simulator run exactly at 1024x768? If that is the case, then a 13" MBP at 1280x800 barely fits the landscape mode of iPad Simulator. What about the portrait mode of the simulator? Do I need a 17" MBP to accommadate that?
I'm new in the mac world and I 'd like to develop some appli for iPhone, so I need to buy a mac. I find this old Mac so do you think that it can support xCode and the iPhone similator kowing that I'll add memory (RAM)
I just recently downloaded and installed XCode and was wondering if this thing "X11" I'm finding in my utilities folder is it. I can't find anything in my applications folder that explicitly says "XCode" unless it's the installer and I've already finished installing it... so does anyone know if X11 is what I'm looking for?
I'm selling a Tiger disc and it says "Tiger with Xcode" on the disc. Is this a normal disc or what is it? I have other Tiger discs on CD and I don't think they have Xcode.
I tried installing different version of xcode to install in my iMAC , but I am getting the same kind of error.First I tried installing xcode from the DVD I got the error.Second I tried installing the xcode_4.2_for_snow_leopard.dmg ( which is downloaded from the net) and got the same error Third I tried installing the xcode_4_and_ios_sdk_4.3__final.dmg ( which is downloaded from the net) and got the same error.
i need to uninstall xcode 4.3 because i found out my installation was corrupt. i used CleanMyMac to uninstall the app, but i can't dowload it from the app store because it sais it's still installed. i looked and the /Developer folder doesn't exist and neither does the app file in the applications folder.
I just found that it is great business to make apps for Apple.
I am from Lithuania and here we haven't any competitors in this business.
It is everything ok.
I found a programmer, who knows C++ well, but the problem is that he doesn't have a MacBook.
The question is that: Can he write the code on windows, and put it on my apple? (I have one). 1. he have the code on win OS 2. he sends me the code 3. I put it on xCode 4. we have a program))
I currently need a laptop of some sort but have a very fast PC desktop for my heavy lifting, PC gaming, photoshop, etc. I am also interested in learning to program for iOS using Xcode, and I don't want to go the hackintosh route. Since I have a desktop, my general usage for this laptop would be very light, i.e. web browsing, email, tweetdeck, iTunes, light Microsoft Office use, etc. I am just wondering if these models would be good enough for Xcode? Would the 11" model be sufficient?
(I could plug into one of my PC's external monitors for more screen real estate). I guess I mainly ask that question from a processor standpoint (1.4 versus the 1.86 in the 13"). 2GB versus 4GB RAM? Again, this would be used very casually other than learning programming on Xcode. Before the Airs were released I was considering a base 13" pro. The only benefit I see in the 13" pro at this point is a backlit keyboard and cheaper than the 13" air. (Apple Store has the 13" pro refurb for $1020 right now).
I have just got a new 11,6 air. It is not my first Mac, and I have always found Xcode on the install discs, but where is it now? I can't find it in the install usb stick.
I keep getting the message, something like "Developer Tools needs to take control of ... for debugging ... enter password to allow this. Everytime I turn on my Macbook and start Xcode. Is there a way to 'always allow' this?
I am making a Cocos2D game and want an 'intro' to play when my app is launched. It is a .mov H.264 file. How do i get the movie to play when the app is launched? XCode 4.3.1 Making an app for Mac.
I have installed the lion today only. Now I want to update my xcode also but when I click on install button on xcode download page in Mac App Store it does not do anything. I see an activity indicator moving for 2-3 seconds and then it disappears. I am not able to see any kind of installation anywhere. how should I install the xocde now?Â
FYI, i have already removed existing xcode from my system.
