May 17, 2010I own a router with USB Ports that allow Hard Drive sharing over the network when one is plugged in. I am the only person running OS X at Home, and I want to use Time Machine. The external HD that I am going to buy to plug in to the router needs to be both PC & Mac compatible. Can I have 2 partitions that respectively use different formats ?

Mar 25, 2005Don't know if anyone has made an album using iPhoto yet, but if you haven't, you should. I needed some additional portfolios to place around some places where my images are displayed, and I was really getting tired of making my own.
The quality is very good - I got the hardbound 20-page book with black pages and it looks awesome. My only complaint id that they are currently having problems accepting books with Type 1 post script fonts.Had the book in three days after ordering it right through iPhoto.

Mar 29, 2009I just bought a Macbook. I have thousands of pictures/hundreds of albums that I have on EasyShare. I would like to put some of these pictures on my iPod, but don't seem to be able to search anywhere except iPhoto. When I try to search Kodak Easyshare from iTunes, I am unable to access any photos except on iPhoto. Am I going to have to export all of these albums from EasyShare to iPhoto?

In Photo Booth you can add custom backdrops however I am unable to do so with my new macbook pro.In photo booth if you click on effects and then click the box on the farthest right. Normally you should be able to drag and drop pictures for custom backdrops. It worked before on my old macbook w/ snow leopard. Unfortunately, Apple has very lousy documentation support for Photo Booth.

May 11, 2010I finally bit the bullet on a new i7 15" MBP today to replace my dying 3.5 year old MB. I want to transfer my music and pictures from MB and also preserve my playlists and photo albums. I currently have a TimeCapsule as well. My current MB is "faulty" so I don't really want to copy over the drive per se, just the music / pictures. What's the easiest that I can do this? Sorry, I've never done this before and in the past I've just used an external HD and copied over the music/pic files but I lost the playlist/albums. It's over 3 years of work to redo, so to speak, and I want to see if there was an easier way to do this.

Apr 12, 2009Im doing a photo slideshow with some video sliced in. It should all have clean transitions that include slight zooming, scaling, panning. Each transition needs to be customized for each shot so the zooming doesn't randomly zoom into an arm or a forehead or something rediculous as of now I presume adobe premiere is what I will be using as it can do all that. I was just curious if ilife09 does it or something else so that I can get it done fast and as streamlined as possible.

Dec 5, 2014I've been playing with Photo Booth on my new Mac, and most of the effects work. However, when I try the background effects (included and custom) the back ground image is not showing in the background, but instead in parts of the picture I'm trying to capture. Is there a way to adjust those settings?

Oct 1, 2010I just created a website for my dad using iweb 09 and published it yesterday. However, in the photos section there is a "download" button when you enlarge the image. Is there a way to delete this button or at least disable it? He is a photographer and is trying to sell his photos, this will nto work if people can download them for free on the site.

May 12, 2009using Disk Utility and I am totally confused. I am a first time MAC user and as I understand my system is Leopard. When I click on the disk utility and then burn What? Not even sure if this is the proper way to make copies of my albums, or should I just burn the entire photo list?

Jan 4, 2010I'm using 8.1.1 on a macbook and am a mac noob to a certain extent. Actually I'm not all that great on computers in general, so please bear with me.
I made new albums in iphoto and cut and pasted pics from photos to the albums. Some albums, in which I made copies to discs for jobs, now have no pics in them. The albums are still there, but are empty. Some folders that I didn't make discs from are missing pics also, while others have pics? And I can't copy and paste anything back into them. Weird... So. What did I mess up?
I thought all was good when doing the work and deleted pics from photos, just to tidy up a bit. They are now in the trash.
I'm a bit nervous to do anything more in fear of losing more. It's kind of a pain, because I am super buried in work and am short on time, but I need the photos back to make more cd copies for insurance companies, vendors blablablabla... So I have to just quit whining and get it done. But I have the willies about messing up. My time machine is not setup because It can't find an apple device to backup or something? My verbage is probably off there.

Jul 3, 2010I have unusual, although not debilitating issue with DVDs made on a white 13-inch MB (MB2,1, mid-2007, 2.16GHz, 2GB RAM, SuperDriveDVD=Matshita DVD-R UJ-857E) running Tiger 10.4.11 which cannot be read on a MBPro 15.4-inch (MBP4,1, early-2008, 2,4GHz, 2GB RAM, SuperDriveDVD player=HL-DT-ST DVDRW GSA-S10N) running SnowLeopard 10.6.4.
The DVDs were burned, a couple of years ago, on the white MB and contain a copies of files from my user (administrator) directory, mostly iWork and MSOffice files.
I am able to read the contents of the DVDs and open the individual files on the white MB but not on my MBPro: when I insert the disk, a finder window appears saying I have inserted a blank DVD and asks me how I wish to proceed in using it.
There many ways to recover the files, not least using the MB I created them with, but I would like to understand why this is occurring. Anyone have any ideas?

Apr 7, 2009I've been following this forum for over 2 months now and I'm proud to say that it helped me to finally make the decision to buy a mac. I've always been an iPod-fanatic but a completely new OS seemed like a very drastic change. I recently moved houses and now I live about 200 metres from an apple store, so I guess it was just a matter of time before I caved in .Now that I've been using my new laptop for about a week I can honestly say that I've never enjoyed using a computer as much as I do now. I'm already getting frustrated when using my PC (a Dell Inspiron 1525) to transfer files because it doesn't function as fluently as my mac, I believe that this is a good sign . What I like the most about my new machine are the multi-touch gestures on the trackpad and the very good battery life (I can easily watch over 3.5 hours of video with Airport turned off and low light conditions. Coming from barely 1h15 of word processing on my Dell, I can say that I'm quite impressed). I'm also a lot more productive on this computer than I ever was on any other laptop, I don't know what it is but i'm guessing it has something to do with the fullscreen option in Pages '09. Also, the backlit keyboard is incredibly useful when instant messaging in my room in the middle of the night without my parents knowing, or typing in dark lecture halls.

Dec 21, 2009Has anyone else experience a problem with apple products, where it seems just over the year warrenty, your ipod, or mac starts to play up?
I bought a Macbook in September 2007, I was always extremely careful with it, only used it for home use (barely ever took it out to uni or friends), and used the disc drive only when putting cds onto itunes, or watching installing software. Yet, by December-January of 2008, the Disc drive was making funny noises, and stopped working. Again, I never overused it, nor did I underuse it, I was always careful with my macbook, and yet the drive just went. I can't afford to replace the drive, nor can I afford to purchase a new computer, so I've continued using it.
My ipod 120g, which I got for Christmas last year, has recently started to play up. It frequently freezes, sometimes doesn't show up on the computer, etc. Now for both of these products, the warrenty expired either days or a couple of months after these problems occured, so I have no help from apple.
My question is, has anyone else experienced this phenomenom? To me it seems almost as if Apple only design their products to last a year, expecting people to upgrade and thus fork out more money. Let me make this clear that I love using Mac OS x, it's pure quality, fast and efficient, but the hardware just doesn't match it's quality. I really wanted to continue to be a mac owner in the future, and yet, I refuse to fork out yearly for an upgrade.
I know there is the option of a 3 year warrenty with apple, but it costs an absolute bundle, $400 if I were to buy the $2000 (aussie dollars) macbook pro, so I won't be doing that. Also, I don't think it's ethical to expect your customers to fork out approx. 20% of the cost price for a guarentee that your machine won't break down for 2 extra years.
To me, Apple is, Apple has become, the Microsoft of the 21st Century.

Sep 29, 2010I noticed this about a year ago. So, there are some songs that I cannot play in iTunes, on either my laptop or home computer. However, I can play them on my iPhone 3GS and my 3rd Generation iPod after being sync'd. A friend thought that it was perhaps these songs/albums were not "official" Apple iTunes downloads or not direct downloads from CDs. This is not correct, random songs from random mp3 sources including iTunes (Apple iTunes Store), and even complete albums (from CDs) are affected. Why is this? how can I correct this?
