Does anyone know how to change the focus on dialogue buttons?
For example
In this particular case i'd like to push the "Ta bort" button without using the mouse. The tab only moves some worthless marker around
I started having a weird problem about two weeks ago. I'm working in an application (any application, I think) when suddenly the focus is gone. That is, any keystroke draws a beep. If I single-click in the window, life goes on normally. When this happens, the name in the menu bar does not change.

Someone else was using it the other day and now whenever I hit my Shift key, it changes the focus to either the task bar or the other open app(s). I have reset the keyboard settings in System Preferences, tried another keyboard and still have the same issue. I created a new user account and the Shift key functions properly in the new profile. where else to look to restore the normal behavior?

I haven't figured out how to scroll through the button that will be pressed when I hit return on a menu yet. On a PC the TAB button will do this.
An example of what I'm talking about:
I have a pdf file but it doesn't have a .pdf extension so I select it then hit cmd-i, and change the extension to .pdf. I then get a box pop-up which says "are you sure ..." and the default answer (i.e. if I hit return) is 'Don't add' the extension. So my question is what key do I hit to change the answer to 'Add'? If I hit TAB then it LOOKS as though I have changed the button to 'Add', but in fact I haven't. The heavy outline moves from 'Don't add' to 'Add' but 'Don't add' remains shaded (and the default). When I hit return it doesn't add the .pdf extension and I have to do it again and use the mouse.
I got a Logitech G5 Refresh mouse, and have had it for allmost 2 years now. I'm a windows man that has just turned in to OS X about 14 days ago, s� still have a very lot to learn..
But the thing is, that i was used to - in Windows, that i could browse forward and backwards with the 2 buttons placed close to my thumb on the mouse, instead of the browser/applications forward and backwards buttons..
Is there a way to do so in OS X? I've looked in Preferences, but i did'nt really find anything useful..
I do not have itunemywalkman installed on my computer.I have checked finder and mackeeper to unistall and it does not show up. Why would I be getting this dialogue asking me to sync, unmount, open itunes, etc?

I'm running 10.4.9 on a PPC, all recent updates performed.
I have the feeling the problem surfaced after doing the latest security update. I'm not 100% sure though.Whenever I connect to a (samba) share, the progression bar dialogue box just won't disappear. You know, the one saying "Connecting To Server".
The connection itself works without a problem.When I disconnect and reconnect, it shows me two of those progression bars, progressing away in some networked void.
Every time I start my Mac Mini I get a dialogue window with the message: You shut down your computer because of a problem. etc I have repaired permissions, repaired the disk, reset PRAM and still get the message.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter using my Mac Pro for a while without rebooting, the "open file..." dialogue starts to slow down. For example in Safari when I'm pressing "cmd O" it takes like 5 seconds until the window pops up, sometimes showing me the beachball... this is system wide, it is reproducible in every application and will be fixed on the next reboot - then it takes a couple of hours until it starts hanging again. I have no idea whats causing this but it has been there for months and right now its going on my nerves... There's also a thread on the Apple boards [URL]

After installing 10.6.8 and safari 5.1.5, can't print pdfs from sites. Unable to save same pdfs also. Installed lasted software for my printer. Firefox doesn't display the pdfs.Worked fine with 10.6.7.

I was putting a fresh install of OS X on a friend's MacBook. I put in the disk, it asked me to restart, and I went to Disk Utility (on restore disk) to zero out the data on the hard disk. I clicked partition (since he had a boot camp partition) to 1 partition and clicked apply. Here's where things go kinda weird. The confirmation dialogue comes up and the whole screen froze. I waited for a few minutes but nothing. I then held the power button until it shuts down. Reboot, and there's this beeping noise. It beeps 2 times, stops, and then beeps 3 times. I searched Google, which pulled up entries like bad RAM or something, but my RAM wad upgraded a long time ago, really rare coincidence that it failed while Disk Utility (off the restore disk) froze. I need to install the OS.

At one point I added a new account to my print sharing. I later turned printer sharing off for that account. But here's what's strange: If I go into Sharing > Printer Sharing, and click the "+" to add a user, that account still shows up as eligible to add. However - that user account does NOT show up anywhere under "Users & Groups" in the general Systems Preferences pane. So, essentially, I have a User Account that can share resources, but I can't remove it. How to remove a user account from sharing eligibility when it's NOT showing up in "Users & Groups"?
I was wondering does anyone know how I can use my right hand cmd button as a shortcut key for move focus to the dock. Someone did it for me, but I cannot seem to do it by going through system preferences and to keyboard shortcuts.
after upgrading to SL, I found that when opening Firefox 3.5.2 I have to click somewhere on the main window to bring focus to Firefox. anyone else have this issue and is there a fix? it does not do it with Safari. maybe a conspiracy?

If I have a dialog box on screen with multiple options such as "Yes" and "No" and "No" is the default option selected (it's blue) but I want to select "Yes" without using my mouse how would I do that? Tapping the left and right arrow keys does not move the focus like it does in Windows.

It just started doing it so I did a full virus scan and found nothing. It doesn't matter if I am in the middle of making a selection or typing in doc and it stops if I logout and login as root--but then I keep getting keychain dialogs.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been looking around for quite some time and cannot find a solution for my annoying problem: I cannot keep the 'Tab to move keyboard focus between: All controls' to stick. I am able to change the keyboard setting so that the Tab key changes keyboard focus through settings -> keyboard -> keyboard shortcuts -> full keyboard access and the simple control+F7 until I log out, reboot or power cycle.
I have reset all of my keyboard settings to default and I have gone so far as to create a new user with admin priviledges but the problem persists.
At some point recently (I don't recall precisely when) on two different computers under my control (both iMacs: work 10.6.8 and home 10.7.3) I now find that when I open Safari the new Safari window has no keyboard focus. I must tab twice to get keyboard focus on the address bar. However on a third machine I use (MacBook Air 10.7.3) when I open a new Safari window the keyboard focus is in the address bar (as I expect and as it has always been). I've poked around in the Preferences in Safari and System Preferences: Keyboard and Universal Access Keyboard but can't find any kind of setting that might control this behavior (lack of keyboard focus on new window).why this is occuring and how to restore keyboard focus to the address bar on opening a new Safari window?

My problem is that when I try and to rename files by hitting enter, the finder window refreshes and I lose focus of the file rename. This seems to be happening when finder is refreshing the thumbnails for each file's icon.
How can I stop this very frustrating behavior. This doesn't happen when not using AFP.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I load a photo from a thumbnail in iPhoto the photo loads a version that is slightly blurry, then after about 5-10 seconds it jumps into focus. I am using a 2006 24inch iMac and the graphics card only has 256k of memory.
Is the delay in focus a function of iPhoto or is it because I have an older graphics card? I'm asking because I want to buy a newer computer (probably a Mac Pro) and am wondering if a faster graphics card will speed up the photo loading.
I created my website with iWeb 1.1.2 & have had absolutely no issues with it from running Tiger right through to Snow Leopard (10.6.2) which I am running at present. However, in the past couple of days, I have noticed a few strange issues with a few of the images...they appear to be slightly out of focus...not only on photographs but also on parts of my website whereby I have added text & these are then saved as PNG files. I haven't changed any preferences whatsoever & everything appears as it should within iWeb itself.
The issue is only occurring once I have published to a folder. I've emptied the Cache in my Browser but the issue is still there. I've added a link below to an image which shows the problem I am having. The top & bottom appear as it should however the centre appears very soft. It doesn't appear like this within iWeb, only once I publish the files. [URL] Would it be worth deleting the preference file for iWeb, & then relaunching the application?

Say I'm viewing the contents of a folder containing a 1,000 files in list mode. I can "page" through the list and all the items scroll but the selected item doesn't change. I have to "mouse" to the item I want when it comes into view.
Is this by design?
we all know that iTunes is a worthless turd, but maybe someone can help me figure something out before I get to the point of chucking my brand new MacBook Pro through the window.
When I go to rename a track or artist in this awful, awful software it almost always kicks me out of the renaming process, and since I'm merrily typing long it takes me to the first song in the library that starts with whatever letter I just happened to press.
Example:
I'm typing in "Bob Sinclar". I get through Bob and the space OK, but then as I'm about to his the S it kicks me out of the renaming process, I hit S, and the iTurd takes me to, say the first State of Shock song in my library.
It does this every! damned! time!
